"The Echo From Dealey Plaza, Part II" -- With JFK S. S. Agent Abraham Bolden

    in Politics Progressive

Your host, Bob Kirkconnell is thrilled that we are able to have JFK Secret Service Agent Abaham Bolden on the program again!  Bob will introduce him and then Abraham will share some of his experiences and insights.  Questions from Bob and callers will follow.

Abraham was the first African American Secret Service Agent on the Presidential detail.  He joined the JFK detail in 1961.  After the assassination, he disclosed a Chicago plot to assassinate JFK and also racism, and serious security short comings in the Secret Service.  What happened to him is the subject of this show and we are honored to have Abraham on the program!  Listeners are encouraged do some research ahead of time.  Below is a review of his book: The Echo From Dealey Plaza.

    From Publishers Weekly

Conspiracy theories haunt the Kennedy assassination; Bolden offers a new one, concerning discrimination and evidence suppression. Becoming, in JFK's words, the Jackie Robinson of the Secret Service, Bolden joined the White House detail in 1961. Already beset by racism (he once found a noose suspended over his desk), his idealism is further shattered by the drinking and carousing of other agents. Soon after the assassination, he receives orders that hint at an effort to withhold, or at least to the color, the truth. He discovers that evidence is being kept from the Warren Commission and when he takes action, finds himself charged with conspiracy to sell a secret government file and sentenced to six years in prison, where both solitary confinement and the psychiatric ward await. That there was a conspiracy to silence him seems unarguable, but Bolden's prose is flat; so is his dialogue. This story is more enthralling than Bolden's telling of it, but the reader who sticks with it will enter a world of duplicitous charges and disappearing documents fit for a movie thriller...

Abraham Bolden; JFK Secret Service Agent Discusses New Book

    in US Government

My guest today is a pivotal part of American history... unfortunately America didn't want you to know about it and still doesn't. As we get closer to November 22, which will mark the 50th Anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, Always remember the story of the Real Bodyguard; the first black agent assigned to the White House detail, selected by Kennedy himself, Abraham Bolden.
He is also the author of "The Echo from Dealey Plaza: The true story of the first African American on the White House Secret Service detail and his quest for justice after the assassination of JFK." This is the hottest book I have read in a long time.
Bolden went head-long into his assignement to protect the life of the President that he so admired, that when he discovered internal behaviors within the Secret Service itself that compromised the safety of the President, he reported his findings to his superiors and afterwards he was removed from Kennedy's detail just before the fateful date, and became targeted unjustly.
Find out why by listening to this interview, and help clear his name. Feel free to leave a comment in the section below, especially if you're on Facebook.

Listen to this special edition of the Pan-African Journal hosted by Abayomi Azikiwe, editor of the Pan-African News Wire. This broadcast presents our regular PANW reports with dispatches on developments in South Africa, Libya, Yemen and Detroit. The second hour continues the examination of the 150th anniversary of the conclusion of the Civil War through the presidency and assassination of Abraham Lincoln who was killed just five days after the surrender of the confederacy. We also look at a mid-twentieth century presidency of John F. Kennedy and his response to the Bay of Pigs invasion of Cuba in early 1961. An audio file of a press conference held by Kennedy to explain the efforts to topple the revolutionary government of Fidel Castro is presented along with a secret telephone conversation with his brother Robert Kennedy, then attorney general, attempting to manage the fallout after the failed counter-revolution in Cuba.
