SORT BY Relevancy
Many high-level Biblical scholars and theologians still are 100% clear on what exactly the 'abomination of desolation' is spoken of by Daniel the prophet. Remember this: The Temple of God is not a building anymore, thanks to Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, it is now our BODIES.
Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: butthis one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand ,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains:
When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth , let him understand :)
15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) Matt 24:15
12 When ye therefore, shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, concerning the destruction of Jerusalem, then ye shall stand in the holy place. (Whoso readeth let him understand.)
(JST Matt 24:12)
Herbert W and Garner Ted Armstrong misinterpreted Matt 24 and therefore led his followers astray. This was not about nuclear war as they maintained, but the destruction of Jerusalem, saith the Lord, and the phrase "except those days be shortened none of their (the Jews) flesh be saved". I was revealed this independently, and then read afterward to my great satisfaction and comfort the revelation given to Joseph Smith when he translated the Bible and corrected many errors. The Romans destroyed the sanctuary as prophesied in Daniel:
25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.
26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
(Old Testament | Daniel 9:25 - 27)
Matthew Chapter 24 tells of the consumation of all things. It foretells of the blessed hope of the return of our LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS, THE CHIST. It provides signs and confirmations of the time and the season of the end time or end of days period. It provides warnings and admonitions. It is a chapter that extols us to prepare ourselves and not to be overtaken by false prophets and teachers of the day but to be viligent overcomers to the end without fear but excited anticipation of the return of our Lord and Savior Jesus, The Chirst.

Apostasy - The Abomination That Causes Desolation
1 Cor. 3:17 states: “if anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him; for the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.”
Apostasy is defined as a falling away from or rebellion against God, rejecting obedience in salvation.
Abomination is defined as detestable, abominable practices, disgusting practices, or foul things.
Desolation is defined as: to make waste, or to make desolate.
The ultimate abomination that causes desolation is when the apostasy of unbelief causes the sacrifices of praise and commitment to God to cease in the temple of the Holy Spirit, i.e. in the hearts of men itself.
It is the abominable practices of rejecting God that causes a desolation of the spirit, bringing the inevitable result of God’s judgments upon the unrepentant.
“If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him; for the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.” 1 Cor. 3:17
“Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away(apostasia) comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple (Naos; i.e. spiritual temple) of God, showing himself that he is God.” 2 Thess. 2:3-4
Apostasia: A falling away, defection, rebellion, abandonment, apostasy to forsake
