In this show I will talk about how to handle it if it turns out that a man you are dating has some tendencies towards something that you are uncomfortable with. AND what to do if YOU are the one that makes others uncomfortable.

There is not one scientist or researcher that can come up with one solid definition for what is abnormal, however flawed or problematic to be proven in some way. Now, researchers have been able to connect conditions or maladaptive behaviors to being abnormal but there just isn’t one single behavior that makes someone abnormal. Let’s take note that abnormal behavior is a social judgment. These judgments are based on the values and expectations from society as a whole. Though society is always shifting and changing throughout the decades deciding what may have been abnormal. Two decades ago, such as piercings, which were considered deviant and your mental health was questioned, has become acceptable today and is a part of a fashion statement. There was even a time when homosexuality was being diagnosed and considered as having mental illness, and now this country is legalizing same sex marriages (Butcher, 2007). The United States uses the accepted standard for defining the various types of mental disorders known as DSM-IV-TR (text revision). Some of these definitions are as follows:
• “It would become of great importance clinically when referring to behavior or a “psychological syndrome or pattern”
• “You will find mental disorders being associated while under distress or due to a disability” (such as being impaired or lack of function)
However, you can’t just predict mental illness or disorders based culturally or by coercing an intervention or basing it on an event, such as the loss of a loved one. We can’t consider this in the bracket of being mentally disturbed. However, researchers have found connections with the disorders in a psychological and biological manner when it comes to dysfunctional behavior. If you are suffering or confused about you or your childs behavior, if its out-of-control and your not sure on what actions to take, listen to my show.
Shelby County has a rich history that includes legends of buried treasure, Civil War skirmishes, a Civil War hospital and Confederate cemetery. The Creek Indians were driven from this land as well during the time of the Trail of Tears. There are many stories, and hauntings, that exist in the area. Over 25 tales are written in my book Haunted Shelby County, Alabama which is part of the Haunted America series published by The History Press. It is available on Amazon.com and in local bookstores such as Barnes & Noble, Alabama Booksmith, Little Professor and Books-A-Million. I also have signed copies available in my store here. You can read more stories and see photos I share on my Haunted Shelby County Facebook page.

Tonight's Topic: Endometriosis
Endometriosis Awareness takes place across the globe during the month of March this disease which affects an estimated 176 million women and young girls during Menstruation. Endometriosis can be devastating to women who suffer with this disease.
What is endometriosis?
Endometriosis is the abnormal growth of cells (endometrial cells) similar to those that form the inside or lining the tissue of the uterus, but in a location outside of the uterus. Endometrial cells are the lining cells of the uterus and are cells that are shed each month during menstruation. Endometriosis occurs when cells like the lining of the uterus grow in or on tissues outside the uterus; these areas are called endometriosis implants. These implants are most commonly found on the ovaries, the Fallopian tubes, outer surfaces of the uterus or intestines, and on the surface lining of the pelvic cavity. They can also be found in the vagina, cervix, and bladder, although less commonly than other locations in the pelvis. Rarely, endometriosis implants can occur outside the pelvis, on the liver, in old surgery scars, and even in or around the lung or brain. Endometrial implants, while they can cause problems, are benign (not cancerous).
