  • Episode 278 - "Special Tuesday Night Pod"

    in Sports

In this special podcast, we test out Tim's new equipment to improve the quality of our podcast.  Yeah I know, that might be impossible to do.

I also take the time to talk with Tim about some of the recent rashes of pitching injuries and several of the kids that have been called up who might help your fantasy team - Michael Lorezen, Rafael Montero, A.J. Cole and Tim Cooney.  Plus, there are closer opportunities in Toronto and Colorado with both injuries and ineffectiveness.

Its a short show, but action packed.

    A.J. Swoboda: Theologian

    in Current Events

Theologian, pastor and author A. J. Swoboda grew up pro-choice, pluralist, tolerant, suspicious of any kind of exclusivist, conservative ideology. But then something unexpected happened that upended his world view. He says, “Church was a foreign land. For me God was nice, thoughtful, non-judgmental and progressive. God was probably a Democrat. That’s the image I had of what God was most likely like.”

What was that surprising event and how did it change his entire life? On Monday, Maxine and Jeannie find out the answer from A.J. when they interview him about his second book A Glorious Dark: Finding Hope in the Tension between Belief and Experience. You won’t want to miss this!

    Appetite for Fun!!!!

    in Rock Music

This week we welcome Vicky Hamilton as our latest celebrity guest. Who is Vicky Hamilton you ask? Well my Friend, she is only the most important person in the life of one of the last great rock bands (Metallica being the other) to come along in the 80's. She was a mover and a shaker in the metal world helping bands like Motley Crue, Poison, Faster cat, & Salty Dog make their way into the main stream (ok I am pushing it with the Salty Dog Reference). But none the less, if you were trying to make it in the "Hair Metal" world in the 80's and 90's then Vicky Hamilton was someone you needed to impress. Her soon to be released book "Appetite for Dysfunction" is to be released shortly and we will talk to her about this amazing time in the era of our favorite music.

The Rangers begin their pursuit of Lord Stanleys cup this week with thier series against the Penguin, and I will have a breakdown of this series and my predictions on all of the 1st round matchups for the NHL playoffs.

The Yankees and Mets have started ther seasons in less than spectacular fashion, and we will certainly breakdown the early results and can talk about some of the surprises from the firstt 2 weeks of the MLB season.

I also posted a list, given to me, showing some of the gteatest baseball hitters of all time. We can break down this list and I will be happy to discuss who ISNT on this list and question how and why someone is on the list.

Dee Snyder is pissed at A.J. Pero, Slayer to release their next album, Frank Hannon (Tesla) gave his opinion on the VanHalen Live album and I will give you my take as well on these and some other topics in the world of hard rock and metal.

Log onto BLOGTALKRADIO.COM to tune in to hear me and my special guest chat about her history making time with one of hard rocks biggest bands. And please feel free to call in as always

Talking In Circles: Duck Commander 500, New All-Star Rules, Crew Chiefs trouble

    in Sports

On this episode of Talking In Circles we break down the Duck Commander 500 from Texas Motor Speedway and take a look at who's hot and who's not. Also we talk about the sudden and surprising drop in tv ratings from Saturday night's race. We discuss why and if that'll be a trend in NASCAR or just a blip on the radar.

Also as we are 7 weeks in the season there are a few drivers who are in the top 20 who are surprising. Aric Almirola, David Ragan, Paul Menard, Danica Patrick, Casey Mears and AJ Allmendinger are all in the top 20. We give you our opinions on who will stay, and who will fall.

Also with some surprises come some disappointments and usually in the middle of the season the crew chief is replaced, not the driver. With that being said we give you guys a few names of crew chiefs who could be in some trouble in the coming weeks.

Also we discuss the changes to NASCAR's All-Star race. Instead of the top two finishers in the event they will go with the two segment winners from each event to transfer from the Sprint Showdown to the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race. Also they've added pass event winners who currently runs the full season in the Cup Series. Right now the event is at 20 drivers. But how have these changes helped/hurt the event and what other changes would we like to see in the All-Star race, that's discussed.

John Harlow from BeyondTheFlag.com joins the show as well to give us his thoughts on this week's topics and we take your phone calls!
