After a brief vacation, Mike "the Buzz-saw" Asti and George "the Howitzer" Gerbo are back and better than ever (of course they'd say that). During their break, asininity in the sports world was at a premium, as usual.
In a shocking turn of events, the Kansas City Royals rolled through the American League to reach the franchises first World Series since 1985. Has this run by the Royals been more a lucky ridiculous hot streak or something to be admired? Mike vs George goes 12 rounds on this topic. You want someone who is not surprised and feels asking the legitimacy of a team going undefeated in a postseason is asinine, we give you the Buzz-saw. You want someone who has never bought into the Royals and characterizes their dominance as an "aberration" pennant, we give you the Howitzer. Has baseball actually witnessed a generational trend of these "aberration" pennants or championships, by teams breaking long droughts and seemingly coming out of nowhere?
Kansas City is in the Fall Classic for the first time in 29 years. San Francisco, on the other hand, has reached their third World Series in five seasons. Will a third championship (2010, 2012, 2014?) make the Giants a dynasty? What is it about this team that becomes a winning cockroach in the postseason? With some moving parts, who are the "faces" of this potential Giants dynasty?
The NHL is underway. Which teams have significantly improved? Are there some perennial contenders that will disappoint (cough, Detroit Red Wings)?
Ole Miss and Mississippi State are both at top of the college football rankings. Yes, you read that right. Did Notre Dame fall into the driver seat for a playoff spot?
HBS radio gold has returned, as the Howitzer and Buzz-saw conquer sports radio, one day, at a time....

Lanny began wrestling in the NWA territories in the 1970s before becoming a star in his father's promotion, International Championship Wrestling, where he held the promotion's title. Over the course of his regional career, Poffo both tag teamed and feuded with older brother Randy. Upon the ICW's folding in 1984, he joined Randy in the CWA before traveling with him again to the World Wrestling Federation in June 1985. The brother angle was never worked in the WWF and the relationship was never mentioned on-air. While Lanny never attained the popularity of his brother in the WWF. As Leaping Lanny Poffo, the Wrestling Poet he would bring frisbees to the ring, read a short ode written on one of them that he himself had penned, and throw the frisbees into the crowd. Each poem typically ridiculed the heel that he was about to wrestle against, or angered the heel by building heat for the face that the heel was feuding with at the time. Despite wrestling as a jobber, he was arguably in the "Jobber To The Stars" category as he was usually allowed to get in a fair amount of offense in his matches, and won some matches on occasion. Poffo wrestled a high-flyer style at a time when big, heavy wrestlers still dominated the promotion. In April 1989, Poffo was re-introduced as a heel wrestler and became The Genius, adopting a highly intelligent, sniffy persona and wearing an academic cap and gown to the ring. On the November 25, 1989 edition of WWF Saturday Night's Main Event, The Genius beat Champion Hulk by count out due to Mr. Perfect hitting Hogan with the championship belt. Later, The Genius was the manager of the Beverly. It was in this capacity that Poffo last appeared in the WWF, at Survivor Series 1992.
Bryan Kest has been practicing yoga since 1979 and has been teaching since 1985. He developed his unique, distinctive style of yoga, Original Power Yoga, in 1979. Over the years, this style, an amazing workout for the body, mind and spirit, has made him a well-known, popular teacher across the country and around the world.
His mainstream popularity is matched by an authentic foundation in the ancient practice of yoga and a long path of development as a yogi (a practitioner of yoga). At age 15, Bryan uprooted from his native Detroit home to make a life change in Hawaii. He moved to live with his father, a doctor, who understood the benefits of yoga. Like many of us, Bryan originally thought yoga was nothing more than strange contortions, but that changed when his father introduced him to a physical style of yoga called Ashtanga. This appealed to him immediately, and he soon observed great changes in himself, both physically and mentally. Yoga quickly became his passion, one that would take him to India for a year to study with the great yoga masters of the world, PattabhiJois. He has been continuing on his yoga path ever since.
