Archivist, paleographer and historical researcher Peter Foden joins Jane from the United Kingdom today to talk about using English manorial records to track your colonial American family, whether they were in New England or Virginia, to their roots in England. Peter will discuss what types of records can be found in the manor records, how to use the records, what information can be found in the records, and the challenges in using these records from the 17th and 16th centuries -- including the penmanship and language. (Many of the records are in Latin!)
Peter has worked in local authority archive services in Shropshire and Staffordshire, in education, and in business (the Oxford University Press and Boots the Chemist). He is currently providing archive consultancy services to a stately home, among other freelance activities listed on his website. He is a member of the Archives and Records Association (UK & Ireland).

I was engaged in a conversation with one of my sisters recently and we began chatting about dating and relationships. We both expressed confusion and frustration over the way dating occurs in this day and age. Certainly, being over the age of 40, the way things are operating now is not what either of us is used to. Modern day Hagars being ok with being the "side chick", men being comfortable having a woman providing total financial support for her man's life, sexual immorality being labeled as "no big thing"... The list goes on and on.
Well my sister and I have decided that we are better off single than to lower or completely remove our standards in order to adhere to the foolishness that is considered the acceptable "norm" for dating in the twenty-first century.
Let's chop it up and find out what the reality is about dating today and how things have changed so much over the past forty years.

Aloha! Welcome to Mana Talk!
First off… This isn't an "enjoy the show" blogtalkradio show with pet humor and cooking tips etc. Ya, sorry, it's actually a political needed warning, an alert, and hopefully you can take my show seriously – to a certain extent, and take the best course of action. Or, you will begin to further witness the decay of the United States of America and this planet. Will you be the 21st Century Republican reason why our nation was bought and sold to the highest "foreign" and domestic 1% corporate and individual bidders for their further abusive and corruptive desires, or will you be one of those that actually became involved, supported me and my blogtalkradio show, and stood with most democrats and smart independents?! Sorry, can’t think of a single Republican that cares.
If you are with me here, then got to http://www.gofundme.com/purpose-earth and get my progressive voice and other like-minded on AM radio, AGAIN! We need to take back AM the radio airways from the Koch’s and the 1%!
Don’t be remembered as that lazy idiot that just sat on his or her hands and did nothing while it all further fell under 1% control, OR sponsor/share/support me, and/or become involved in the brilliant process of the Wolf-pac!
Tune in and join me as I welcome this week's guest.
Doctor and author M. Maitland DeLand joins me this week to talk about her book: Nashville Mercy and more.
Already an Oncologist and award winning children's author, Nashville Mercy is the debut novel in Maitland DeLand's Kate Katelinson series. When a promising country music singer on the verge of stardom mysteriously dies after undergoing a routine medical procedure, Kate Katelinson, an investigative reporter for the Nashville Herald, becomes personally tied to the case. After sources connected to the reporter’s investigation start dying, Kate finds herself thrust into a twisted labyrinth of betrayal, corruption, and murder. Armed with only her investigative instincts and an unlikely alliance of friends, the reporter enters a terrifying game of cat-and-mouse with a mastermind more powerful than she could have ever anticipated.
To complicate matters, Kate finds herself torn between her brilliant ex fiancé, and a charismatic hospital executive who both may be after more than her heart.
In her debut novel, Dr. M. Maitland DeLand takes readers through a rollercoaster ride of suspense while touching upon some of the most pressing social and healthcare issues of the 21st century.

Join The Gist of Freedom as welcome author Dr. Tyrene Wright, “Booker T. Washington And Africa, The Making of A Pan Africanist.”
A Booker T. Washington scholar, Dr. Wright takes a different approach to examining Washington and the Tuskegee model. Her research focuses on Booker T. Washington's role and relationship with African people and Africa which argues that Washington's role was to promote sustainable agriculture, and economic models amongst African communities worldwide. She is the author of Booker T. Washington and Africa (forthcoming) which is the first book of its kind, and covers two international policy cases: The Liberian Crisis, and the African Exclusion Measure, where Washington proves himself to be an adept Pan-Africanist and negotiator for African people.
This book establishes that Booker T. Washington belongs amongst the canon of Pan Africanists that shaped the 20th century, therefore the discourse and narrative on Booker T. Washington has shifted. CLICK FOR MORE
