    Bastia Marlowe~Ancester of a Legend-Marie Laveau

    in Paranormal

    Bastia Marlowe

Bastia Marlowe was born in and grew up in New Orleans, LA under another name.  There, she lived amongst the living and the dead, spent her early adolescence immersed in rain, attended Catholic church, and roamed the city's haunted and flavored streets.  She loved all things New Orleans and once stood in line for 5 hours to be included in the film adaption of fellow New Orleanian Anne Rice's "Interview with a Vampire."  After a stint of performing theater and writing, she moved to Los Angeles in 2001 in her 20s hoping to experience ghosts but mainly exists among the walking dead.  She mostly misses Audubon Park, the low-hanging branches of trees lining St. Charles Ave., stage lights, hole-in-the-wall restaurants, NOMA, driving through City Park, creaky floors in old houses, old cemeteries, and rain. Bastia Marlowe is the great-grand daughter of Marie Laveau.

About Marie Catherine Laveau (September 10, 1801 - June 16, 1881 ) was a practitioner of Voodoo renowned in New Orleans. (As for the date of her birth, while popular sources often say 1794, the records indicate 1801.) Her daughter, Marie Laveau II, (1827 c. 1895) also practiced Voudoun, as well as Voodoo. She and her mother had great influence over their multiracial following. In 1874 as many as twelve thousand spectators, both black and white, swarmed to the shores of Lake Pontchartrain to catch a glimpse of Marie Laveau II performing her legendary rites on St. John's Eve (June 23–24)

Alvin and Calvin Almond - Exclusive Interview -Thurs, Jan 22, 2015 - 7:00 PST

    in Music

Alvin and Calvin Almond was born in the deep south of Virginia. Growing up in the era of Segregation, the identical twins started their music career at a early age of eight years of age. They traveled the southern chittling circuit throughout high school dancing and being known as the little James Browns Twins. Folks would come from all over to witness the magical JB moves that they performed. Playing saxophones and fooling people were very exciting for the twins. Even taking our show as we attended Morgan State University in Baltimore Md. Although being the youngest of five boys, we always kept that twinship even to this day. Doing our Lil James Brown routines and learning from his songs that taught us lifes values. We witnessed him several times live but never imagined that we were on a course that would one day bring us into Mr. Browns life as his godsons. Knowing that we must leave the south, we ventured some three thousand miles to California against our Mothers wishes as we were her baby twins. It was in 1979 that we ventured across the country to find that pot of Gold they say was waiting there. By this time, we found a deep sense of spiritual self and gave our lives to God. That alone would save our life and prepare us for LaLa land. We changed our music message about Gods love as we kept our James Brown Funky sound. Way ahead of the Kirk Franklin and J Moss plus others years later. Being Identical Twins, we had no problems getting into plenty record deals. Capital, Solar, Motown plus others. The only catch was that we would conform to secular music. That we refused. Even Mr. Joe Jackson invited us into his private office and enticed us to sign with his company if we would change our gospel soul style. Motown, which we loved offered the same. Mr. Fuller Gordy, Berry Gordys brother took us under his wings and taught us well. He said Twins!!!

For  thousand of years mankind has been perplexed by the bible and its content. Many have tried to rewrite it and interpret it.Due to many failures many sect of religious organizations have come about. There is only one true interpretation to the scriptures and it says if you pray for understanding through rauch hakodesh you will receive it.But many have taken that insight that they received, not wanting to abide by it.Accepted there on way of mankind wisdom.Because we dont accept what the scripture says does not mean we should stray from it or seek to hear what we want.I on the other hand read and interpret the true meaning of the tanakh and give light insight to a great phrophecy to come. The New Kingdom.

    OTTOS KANSAS COFFEE BAR

    in Politics

Program Summary date: Jan. 19, 2015 Hear Rep. Bill Otto and "the Lineball Sisters" discuss all manner of Kansas smalltown life in the second hour after these news stories.

Counterspin (30 min.) Produced by FAIR.

Description: This week on CounterSpin: Coverage of the recent state visit from Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto didn't avoid mention of violence in Mexico, including the disappearance of 43 student teachers in September. But the explanations of that violence (and of the US relationship to it) hid more than they revealed. We'll talk with Laura Carlsen from the Americas Program and the Center for International Policy about the desaparacidos and the nature of violence in Mexico.

Also on the show: Before the movie even opened, there were high-profile criticisms of the movie Selma, particularly around the well-received film's depiction of Lyndon Johnson.
