THE BULLY AND THE BULLIED
Kids get bullied. Adults get bullied. Workers get bullied. It’s just a fact of life, right? We grow up change jobs, move new places and there’s no harm, no foul, right? Well, maybe not. Could bullying actually be tied to abuse, domestic violence and long term consequences? What happens when your parent or your teacher is the bully? Or your supervisor at work or a relative?
Lisa Freeman, award winning author and speaker, will help us sort it all out Saturday. She’s appeared on TCT Today, Family Life Radio, Family Forum, news programs (such as WNEM-TV 5, WEYI-TV 25, WILNS-TV 6, ABC-TV 12 and more!) and has made headlines in newspapers both at the local and national level. For four years she hosted her own televised ministry “A Time to Heal.” Currently she writes a blog, “Abuse Bites but True Love Heals” to inspire others. She also lost a son in 2010, who had been bullied all his life for having Asperger’s Syndrome and a rare heart disease. Both personally and professionally, Lisa knows the ins and outs of bullying.

Much of the work of advancing women in the legal workplace falls on the shoulders of women. Most firms have women’s initiatives run by and for women, and these initiatives have great value. But they are not changing the norms, attitudes and biases that govern law firm advancement, leadership and rewards. Little significant change is possible at the top of law firms, where it really counts, unless those with power – men – take the lead and are accountable for it.
