Using Civil Rights Records to Find The Story In Your Community and Family
Please join genealogist and family historian Antoinette Harrell for a discussion of how and why researchers will want to explore the Civil Rights records to find relatives that were engaged in the Civil Rights movement throughout the South. Ms. Harrell will use a case example of Mr. Herbert Lee a Civil Rights leader from Amite County, Mississippi to illustrate what was documented in Federal Records about him.
Antoinette Harrell, a renowned genealogist, author and blogger whose genealogical research has been featured on Nightline News, People Magazine and many other national and international public media. Harrell is the host and producer of Nurturing Our Roots Television and Nurturing Our Roots Blog Talk Radio and was appointed Honorary Attorney General in the State of Louisiana in 2003 for her studies in genealogy. She is also one of the recipients of the ASLAH Award in 2013 for her outstanding services as a humanitarian activist and film maker and has been featured in “Chronicle On Civil Rights” & Civil Rights History from the Ground Up: Local Struggles a National Movement.
The Department of Justice Records are available under the Civil Rights Division at the National Archives.
The Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice, created in 1957 by the enactment of the Civil Rights Act of 1957, works to uphold the civil and constitutional rights of all Americans, particularly some of the most vulnerable members of our society. The Division enforces federal statutes prohibiting discrimination on the basis of race, color, sex, disability, religion, familial status and national origin.

"the daily complaint"
Every weekday we answer client complaints on The Daily Complaint to provide direction and resources for both the person complaining as well as other consumers experiencing similar issues whether it be mortgage fraud, loan servicing escrow issues, loan modification runarounds or denials, short sale refusals, deed in lieu negotiations and credit card debt collector abuses and fraud violations.
I routinely look for posts to answer in hopes that it will not only bring optimism to those homeowners and borrowers in distress but also some basic information to assist in fighting the banks that are "too big to fail" like Bank of America and Citi but yet don't appreciate the bailout that we provided in their time of need. The debt collectors like Ocwen and Nationstar are simply just piranhas but they can be beat at their own game too just like the big banks can be defeated.
We are committed to answering consumer complaints and addressing everyday credit and debt issues on The Daily Complaint and I thank you for your continued support!
We hope you enjoy the Show...

BOB DARBY, ADVOCATE FOR THE HOMELESS - Thursdays, 3:00 p.m. EST ~ War on Homeless People in USA - Darby has been an advocate for the homeless for more than twenty years. Please call to speak on air at (347) 857-3293 for all broadcasts. He has a B.A. in psychology from Emory University. Darby also studied in psychology and theology in graduate school. He is a former employee of Georgia Regional Hospital, Boston State Hospital, and New Hampshire's Hanover-Darthmouth Hospital. In 1994, he co-founded Atlanta Food Not Bombs. Darby is a writer and public speaker, who bravely covers subjects such as eugenics and the homeless. He also exposes how drug trafficking by U.S. officials contributes to homelessness, imprisonment and deaths of marginalized people. LAPD killed a homeless, mentally ill black man days ago. See the video http://youtu.be/YO0FG4-tMe8
Darby asserts drug additions that lead to homelessness were partly facilitated by the CIA, which began trafficking herion, crack and other drugs into America years ago, sometimes inside the corpses of deceased American soldiers. He cites documented proof from government records and books by respected journalists. Bob also asserts that people with serious mental illness are deliberately rendered homeless in the United States of America and deprived of psychiatric and medical health care services.
Voters should petition elected officials to improve treatment and subsistence assistance for mentally ill people and those with substance abuse issues. Please use this link to contact your elected officials:

Alexyss K. Tylor, whose son was allegedly attacked and brutalized by a DeKalb County Police officer in Georgia in January 2015, is the new host at Human Rights Demand. Call 347.857.3293 to speak on air every Wednesday at 9pm EST. Tylor and her son recounted the most frightening night of their lives during our Human Rights for Prisoners March radio broadcast on the "Human Rights Demand" channel on March 2, 2015. The broadcast is archived at
Tylor's son, Dinero, is representative of thousands of young men whose civil and human rights were apparently violated under the color of law. This happens to Black men like Dinero, and it also happens to Caucasian men like Cameron Redus, a college student who would have graduated with a 4.0 GPA at the University of the Incarnate Word in Texas had he not been gunned down by Officer Chris Carter in 2013. Carter shot the unarmed honors student multiple times, including in his back. Redus may have had a couple of drinks to celebrate the successful conclusion of the semester, and Carter apparently felt that Redus did not give Carter's uniform due reverence.
Police violence happens to Whites as well as Blacks, Native Americans, Latinos, and Asians in the U.S.A. All victims and/or their families are invited to call Alexyss K. Tyler and discuss the circumstances, especially if you seek an attorney for criminal charges and/or a lawsuit. Being Tylor's guests gives victimized people an opportunity to seek representation by ethical attorneys and gain support from human and civil rights activists.

Intentional Peer Support Responds to AOT/ Forced Psychiatry! Chris Hansen, Director of Intentional Peer Support, describes a principled, relational alternative to forced psychiatric interventions like AOT (Assisted Outpatient Treatment). Chris has been promoting, developing and training peers worldwide in Intentional Peer Support for a decade. She has assisted the development of numerous peer-run crisis respites in a number of countries. Before her work in Intentional Peer Support, Chris served as an advisor to New Zealand mental health services and on the board for the World Network of Users and Survivors of Psychiatry. She was a member of the New Zealand delegation to the United Nations to develop the Convention for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. In this episode, Chris describes what Intentional Peer Support is and how it came to be developed as an alternative to force and coercion in mental health. She shares her experience (both lived and work-related) of how and why forced treatments (like AOT) are damaging. Shel explains why many people believe that alternatives need to be happening, what some of these alternatives are, and how they might come to be more broadly available to people who want them.
