Running up a stiff incline the other day I thought about willpower and a book about the finite daily resource that is willpower. I thought about a fed up American population that is stressed to the max about issues both personal and social. Willpower is often the driving force behind achievement as it usually happens early in the morning when you’d prefer to be in bed or late at night when the same is true. So to start the show I want to talk about willpower.

    Health & Wellness Show - Jan 22, 2016 - Willpower

    in Health

January 18th has been dubbed by the media "Blue Monday", the most depressing day of the year. Among other factors, like weather and post holiday finances, one of the contributing factors to this depressing day is that it's usually around the time that people have failed at their New Years resolutions. We thought this would be a good time to discuss willpower, what it is, how we can build more of it and what impediments stand in the way for us to follow through with our goals.

Join us Fridays at 10am EST for the SOTT Talk Radio Network's Health and Wellness Show, where we expose the lies and emphasize the truth about health in our modern world! With us as always will be resident animal health expert Zoya with her weekly Pet Health Segment.

It's NOT about Willpower- The role of Your Brain in Weight Loss

    in Weight Loss

As the new year takes a turn so many people claim weight loss as their new years resolution. But how easy is it? The myth that it's all about dedication and willpower couldn't be further from the truth. There's a whole slew of other factors that actually have to do with the way your brain processes data, and your way of thinking that has a sneaky but huge impact on your eating (for instance the size of your plate that you put your food on makes a difference!).

Dr. Susan Peirce Thompson is one inspiring lady. (Check out her video blog HERE to see what I mean). Having struggled with body image issues, depression, food addiction and yo-yo weight loss ever since her teenage years, she knows a thing or two about weight loss. Now she is a tenured psychology professor who specializes in the psychology and neuroscience of weight loss, willpower, and food addiction, not to mention Founder of Bright Line Eating Solutions.

I've invited her on the show to share some of her powerful insights and awesome free resources for those looking for permanant weight loss, and relief from food addiction including:

Why willpower simply isn't enough, what your "Why" has to do with it, and how the science behind how your brain plays a huge part on your eating habits

Discovering where you are on the Food Susceptibility Scale and what kind of nutritional plan works best for you

What's love got to do with it?

What happens when your willpower is not enough?

    in Motivation

(Note:  This will be a LIVE simulcast on Periscope (www.periscope.tv/LaKishaRiddick) TONIGHT (10/6/2015) at 11pm EST.  Catch the video replay on Periscope within 24 hours the show aired or watch on my YouTube Channel Share My World Show.)

For every trial we face, WE must do the work to overcome it.  Everyone will tell you to work harder like it ALL depends on our strength.   But are we expected to overcome our trials based only on our willpower?  What happens when we've exhausted all of our physical resources?  What happens when we simply have no more willpower to give?  How do we keep moving forward?

Listen as LaKisha share's how she's able to keep moving forward when she has no more willpower to give.  Be encouraged as she shares tips on how you can keep moving forward too.

    When Willpower Isn’t Enough (Rebroadcast)

The ONE Thing: 2 More Lies-A Disciplined Life & Willpower is Always on Will-Call

    in Real Estate

There is this pervasive idea that the successful person is the "disciplined person" who leads a "disciplined life".  This is a LIE.  The truth is, you don't need anymore discipline than you already have. You just need to learn to redirect it and manage it a bit better. This will be discussed in this coaching session.

The next lie is that willpower is always on will-call.  When you tie your success to your willpower without understanding what that really means, you set yourself up for failure. And you don't have to. It seems like we should just be able to invoke your will at any given time and we will find success.  Willpower is always on will-call is a LIE.  Most people assume willpower matters, but most don't realize how important it is.  Once you understand more about willpower, you will be able to use it to find success.  This is what we will discuss in this coaching session.

    Why Not Willpower?

    in Self Help

You’re not alone if you’ve ever said or thought, "I just don't have any willpower!” Nearly everyone has the same problem simply because willpower fails nearly 97% of the time.
Tonight on Bust Your Ruts Radio Deb will share the newest research demonstrating that the conscious mind is only able to focus for about 8-10 seconds before it becomes distracted. That distraction is what causes the mind to lose focus and weaken your willpower. If you want to learn a tool that can support you in achieving your goals 97% of the time, this show will help you unlock the power of your subconscious mind and move beyond willpower.

Staying Sane in a World Gone Mad

    in Spirituality

Do you ever feel like you're the only one in your area or family that seems to understand what is really going on in the world? As a result, do you feel depressed isolated, fearful? It's natural to feel this way when we begin to see and understand the real and often shocking truth about how the world operates. But it can also be struggle. What you once thought was your purpose in life can fall away, leaving you wondering where to turn next and what, if anything, you can do to stop the madness on our planet.

This week on Behind the Headlines we'll be sharing our thoughts about facing the horrors of life on planet earth and where we can still find inspiration, purpose and willpower, and how diet and lifestyle are directly involved in achieving those goals. In this task, we'll be joined by hosts of the Health and Wellness show, Doug DiPasquale and Tiff Miller.

We hope you'll join us on Sunday January 31st 2016 from 12-2pm EST, 6-8pm CET for what may be one of the last Sott Radio Network shows to be hosted by Blogtalkradio, because we're ditching these losers and striking out on our own.
