Curtis Harwell Discusses Why We All Need Lots of Fiber In Our Diet Plan

    in Fitness

Find out all the good things fiber can do for you

Getting enough fiber is something people don't think about all that often. Let's face it: Most of us haven't a clue how many grams of fiber we're taking in on a typical day.

And guess what? We're not even close to meeting the recommended intakes of 20-35 grams a day for healthy adults (25 daily grams for those eating 2,000 calories per day, for example, and 30 grams for 2,500 calories a day) according to the American Dietetic Association. The mean fiber intake in the U.S. is 14-15 grams a day.

We get fiber from unprocessed foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, seeds, and beans, and most Americans aren't exactly loading their plates with these items. You'd be hard pressed to find any of them in your average fast-food value meal.

And Americans are definitely eating more prepared and processed foods. Consumption of food prepared away from home increased from 18% of our total calories to 32% of total calories between 1977 and 1996. All this "away" food not only has more calories and fat per meal than home-prepared foods, but also less fiber (on a per-calorie basis).

  • Immigration Waivers

    in Legal

In the immigration world, there are numerous waivers that some individuals may need to avail themselves to. Form I-601 is used to apply for a multitude of waivers. For example, if a person came to the US on a B-1/B-2 Visa and #overstays the visa between 181 to 365 days, that person will be barred from entering the US for a period of up to three (3) years. If that same person #overstays the visa for more than 366 days, that person is barred for 10 years. The Form I-601 waiver can be used to reduce that bar to sometimes months. Form I-601 is also used to forgive some petty crimes, some fraud & misrepresentation, and a onetime use of 30 grams or less of marijuana. If an intending spouse came to the US without being inspected or paroled and that spouse is the beneficiary of an immigrant visa, that spouse may avail him/herself of a Form I-601A waiver. That waiver gets approved before the beneficiary spouse has to travel to an American Consulate to be interviewed and collect the green card. Form I-212 is used when a person gets deported. Form I-612 is used when there is a residency requirement.

My Spirit Shall Not Strive With Man Forever , For He Is Indeed Flesh

    in Spirituality

This episode of A Sound Heart will explore the termination of the pre-flood cosmos, and the post-flood new creation.  Man has yet to realize that the attempt to expunge God from the created order is also self-eradication too.  God is prior to creation, and it is he who maintains the standing wave function imposed upon void that we call reality.  God is not limited by the explanations that originate from fifteen hundred grams of the pinkish grey walnut encased within the boney skull of man.  Sin is the monster reality within the room that is avoided by trite and ignoble thinking.  We need brave, fresh, and original thinking in the musty "Brave New World."
