Warren Buffets response on Coca-Cola & what it should've been!

    in Health

Berkshires shareholder meeting revealed a question on why Warren invests in Coke products considering the health related risks.  Lets explore why they are looking to the Oracle for science-based advice and not taking personal responsibility.  Look, if you care about people and believe Coke products are bad then go find a company or person you believe can deliver better results.  The question does reveal the disengenius nature of the shareholders and press.  Join in to talk brass tacks on the future of investing.  Truth be told, Warren not investing in Coke would do virtually nothing for demand.  Its a "I am a good person because I ask questions that make me appear socially responsible" kinda question.

BP Wrigleycast Episode 13: Hail Szczur, Almora Interview, Deviating from Plan

    in Baseball

The Cubs keep winning despite some of the team's big offensive names coming up short. But Tommy LaStella and Matt Szczur had a nice week. We touch on Jorge Soler again and the perpetual mystery of whether or not he'll be a big leaguer. Miguel Montero gets hurt and Willson Contreras doesn't come up, which makes sense.

We also talk about Adam Warren, John Lackey, and the plan to pull pitchers early. Whatever happened with that? Oh and was Dusty Baker really that bad? Judging from the analogies we all draw...yes. But we still like him.

Isaac talked to Albert Almora about confidence and the role it plays in the game, which was fascinating.

Then Joel goes into 60 Seconds with a Former Cub and breaks out his thesaurus to describe the zaftig Hector Villanueva.

Ryan's got the Question of the Week on who the Cubs's best player has been so far.

Isaac breaks down a great at bat by his idol Addison Russell in At Bat of the Week.

Berkshire Hathaway 2016 Annual Shareholders Meeting

    in Business

Warren Buffett hopes next year's annual letter has a Christmas picture with the same 25 head-office employees as this year's picture and the year before's picture. In response to a question about whether the company needs to hire a more diverse group of employees and directors, Buffett said no, he doesn't hire for diversity. He looks for three qualities: people who are business-savvy, are shareholder-oriented and who have a special personal interest in Berkshire. In 2013 Berkshire ranked last among companies in the S&P 100 on a survey of diversity published by activist investor Calvert Investments.

The Nebraska Peace Foundation, which owns one class A share of Berkshire, succeed in putting to a vote a motion requiring the company to compile a report on the risks to its insurance subsidiaries posed by climate change.
