    Voices Carry for Animals # 27

    in Pets

    Hosted By Debbie Dahmer

    Guest: Val Silver lives in northern New York with her husband and Bichon/Shi Tzu mix, Teddy. She is a lifelong animal lover and advocate with a heart for animals and humans in need of compassion and healing. She wrote Rescue Me, her first book, as a fundraiser for homeless dogs, to raise awareness of their plight and needs, and to show what wonderful companions these dogs make when given a chance. Val is a reading teacher, a healer, and a holistic wellness educator. She believes that it takes education, positive action and compassion to create healing and better lives for all creatures-animal and human. Val shares her knowledge and insights on her websites and facebook pages, in on-line groups, in her monthly Bellesprit magazine column, and in the media.

    About Rescue Me:

    Rescue Me will touch your soul with twelve inspirational accounts of ten dog lovers who rescued the dogs who ultimately rescued them. Read (and listen to) true tales of extraordinary commitment, physical and emotional healing, faith in the midst of challenges, twists of fate, second chances, and the magical joy that comes from the bond of unconditional love and acceptance between humans and their dogs.

    The dog adoption stories in Rescue Me are written for the love of dogs in rescue and shelters, and for the devoted people who save them in little and big ways. It is written to raise funds to help them, to raise sensitivity to their plight and their need, and to celebrate all they have to offer when given a chance.

    Donations from Rescue Me royalties help shelters and rescues meet expenses and fund projects designed to make life better for the animals in their care. The accompanying webpage includes a list of sponsored organizations, home videos, photographs, bonus audio interviews with three of our authors, and more.

    Break Every Chain With The Golden Panther Sis. Misty

    in Current Events

     All aboard the "Misty Train" as WE Break Every Chain that is holding us back from being a free and independent people!

    Nobody will ever change the condition of a people until they change within themselves. Family the burden is on us to change our behavior; to build love, trust and confidence in each other and in our people for us, then, 95% of our problems will be solved. We, as leaders must declare that we will never sell out the aspirations of our people for personal wealth, position and advancement in the society of our former slave masters and their children. We must make a covenant with our people to work and sacrifice and be willing to be the good shepherd (leaders) who will lay down our lives for our people. Let us accept our responsibility and change our behavior to that, which will make us more than comrades and brothers and Sisters, but a behavior that will make us friends and companions in the struggle for the total freedom of our people here and wherever we are found on this earth.

    Our word must be our bond. When we break our word we destroy the life of this covenant or the agreement that we have made. It is absolutely necessary that as leaders we must build trust among ourselves. We can only build trust when we strive to keep our word, particularly a solemn agreement or covenant that we make with each other and with our people. I PLEDGE that from this day forward I will keep this covenant. I pledge that I will work to accomplish our mission to make our vision a reality so help me God.

    Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN) - 1016

    in Self Help

    Tonight's special guest is Stacey Lannert from St Louis, MO, a returning NAASCA family member who is a child sexual abuse survivor and activist. But she's much more than that. The founder of Healing Sisters, she's also author of "Redemption: A Story of Sisterhood, Survival, and Finding Freedom Behind Bars" where she tells how 10 years of sexual abuse, including rape and sodomy, Stacey and killed her father in 1990. She was sentenced to life in prison without parole. In January 2009, after 18 years in prison, Missouri Governor Matt Blunt commuted her sentence. He told her he expected her to make a difference with her life. After 18 years in prison, Stacey's now living in St. Louis. She's telling her story so other women can learn from her mistakes. "I created Healing Sisters to allow other sexual abuse victors (we are victors, after all) the opportunity to experience the bond we share and the restoring powers gained from other people who have also suffered," says Stacey. "I believe that every child, woman and man who suffers from sexual abuse becomes a sister because we share a common bond, one of betrayal and suffering. We need one another in order to thrive, and maybe even to survive. I hope in my lifetime we can eradicate, wipe out, and destroy sexual abuse. That surely cannot to be too lofty of a goal, can it? If we communicate, we create. We need to create a safe world for all children."

    The State of Black America: 50 Yrs after the 1965 Voting Rights Act (Pt. 3 of 6)

    in Education

    Series Inspiration:

    “There needs to be a constantly growing and always reviving activist movement across America if we are going to maintain and expand victories and our vision for America. Since MLK Day is upon us next week, we must not forget Martin Luther King stood before and with thousands of people who made the Civil Rights movement what it was.  From Jamestown's slave pens to Montgomery's boycotted busses, these ordinary men, women and the hundreds of children who led the movement, labored in obscurity, from Selma to Montgomery to Washington they provided the foot soldiers who walked in dignity, rather than ride in shame.  They faced bombs in Birmingham, mobs in Mississippi and sat down at lunch counters so others could stand up.  They marched and they organized.” (Julian Bond, Activist)

    Show Overview:

    Rivers In a Desert Ministry

    in Religion

    Ephesians 4:1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,

    2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;

    3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

    4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;

    5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

    6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

    7 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.

    8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.

    9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?

    10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)
