De’Vante Reeves aka “Don Codeine”, in some perceptions, is probably viewed as an 18 year old and a recent graduate just out looking for a party, but the fact is, the Codeine Music team is a hip hop powerhouse. Don Codeine has been packing shows since early start of 2014. In fact, at a show in Philly February 2014 at a venue called The Let Out, Codeine and the Don Codeine squad sold so many tickets that the concert poured out into the streets.
Don Codeine’s presence on the 2014 Greek Tour has associates dubbing him as “The East Coast’s #1 Prospect”. The current mixtape, “Real Life Situations”, is laced with several potential single releases and a grab bag full of party records.
Don Codeine stays busy and in the way of opportunity, just in the past week. The staff at Underground Railroad Entertainment Group and the executives from D4L (Shawty Lo’s Label) have been discussing a possible move for Codeine and the Don Codeine Team that could add them to the D4L Roster.
“How can the Underground Railroad Entertainment Group lose with this dude”, says the Memphis Don from U.R.R.E.G. “When industry professionals are looking for an artist in today’s world of Internet beats and electronic distribution, professionals want a guy to understand the role of the current project. Don Codeine is a one stop shop.”

In celebration of Black History Month and the 150 Anniversary Commemoration of the American Civil War and Gettysburg Address, you will see a very compelling side of Gettysburg as told through our guests. In 2013 the city of Gettysburg, the nation and the world reflected upon the Battle of Gettysburg, which took place from July 1 to July 3 1863, and President Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg Address on November 19, 1863. We showcased what visitors can expect to see and experience following the Commemorations and beyond the battlefield with Stacey Fox, Vice President of Marketing and Sales of the Gettysburg Convention & Visitors Bureau.
Then, Scott Hancock, PhD, Associate Professor of History and Africana Studies at Gettysburg College joins us to discuss the role of the Underground Railroad in the war, the African-American struggle for freedom--from President Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address to Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech, and the seminal events that took place in Gettysburg in 1863 that forever changed America.
Finally, Debra Sandoe McCauslin of For the Cause/Gettysburg Histories takes us along the Underground Railroad in Adams County, Pennsylvania where we visit Yellow Hill and the Quaker Valley to uncover the African-American families who settled in the area and the role of Quakers in the Abolitionist Movement there.
“THE UNDERGROUND RAILROAD”
Written by Leslie Gist & William Beasley
The play has been a dream of Leslie’s for quite some time and now it is coming to fruition. Ms. Sherry Jackson, past foreman of The National Park Service asked Leslie to write a play about the Underground Railroad in a manner that kids could relate to. The theme is that kids in an Underground Railroad Safe House are going on a journey. This reading pulls the audience in as it covers two eras: the past and the present.
Mrs. Gist is working with Harlem Actors. For this rendition, the actors will be seated on the stage in their street clothes, and reading the script. While this is not a full blown production, it is a prelude to what is next.
The Saturday Academy is honored that Mrs. Gist asked our John Wesley family and friends to be the first audience. You are encouraged to come out with our kids and youth, use your imagination, digest some of our history in an alternative manner, and look forward to the next chapter.
Leslie continues to inspire us with all that she does. As author and historian, her book – “The Gist of Freedom is Still Faith” is a must read. She has been a friend and staunch supporter of the Saturday Academy since 2010.
Our guests have a three to four hour trip as they are traveling from New Jersey and New York.
Please RSVP by 10 January 2014

Underground Railroad Love Story, hid in the crevices of Caves and Swam through snake ridden Swamps….. to reunite with wife.
William Jordan's heart revolted, for he was warmly attached to his wife, and so he made up his mind, if he could not see her " once or twice a year even," as he had been promised, he had rather "die," or live in a "cave in -the wood," than to remain all his
life under the governor's yoke.

AN UNDERGROUND RAILROAD REUNION - MEETING OF BLIND FATHER AND HIS SONS,
Jackson found his poor old father here, The Underground Rail Road's Vigilance Committee.
In Philadelphia, where he had resided for a number of years in a state of almost total blindness, and of course in much parental anxiety about his boys in chains. On the arrival of Jackson, his heart overflowed with joy and gratitude not easily described, as the old man had hardly been able to muster faith enough to believe that he should ever look with his dim eyes upon one of his sons in Freedom. After a day or two's tarrying, Jackson took his departure for
safer and more healthful localities, her "British Majesty's possessions." The old man remained only to feel more keenly than ever, the pang of
having sons still toiling in hopeless servitude.
The photos of enslaved West Africans show these quilted coded patterns from the quilts "ichie" marks cut into their skin
If you read the book, Hidden In Plain View, written by Jackie Tobin should tune in to The Gist of Freedom with Roy Paul (@RoyPaulReports) and his guest, author Mrs.Teresa Kemp! Teresa book The Keeper of the Fire book covers not just Igbo Tribe's slavery but slavery in Africa by Arabs and Africans.
Many people questions the encoded quilts. They argue enslaved Africans were not intelligent enough to out smart the Slavers. What many fail to understand, that most Africans were multi-langual. They wrote and read in more than on language. Many asked who could understand the coded quilt pattern language. Tonight's guest, Mrs. Kemp has posters from Nigeria that date the symbols and patterns to 1400 AD this is clearly before the Civil War in America 1861-1865. We have the linage of 3 Eze's of Igbo land to 1042, 1087, 1092 BC.
