Join Alexandra Clair and friend Marj for a discussion of finding God in the Twelve Steps used in many recovery programs. Although Jesus Christ is not mentioned and the "God of our Understanding" is a theme, the steps provide a gateway for many to find a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The Twelve Steps have their origins in the wisdom of scripture and the Christian faith of those that labored to write them.

Most people have heard of 12-step programs and have an opinion and perspective about them. Words are heard differently by women, especially women who understand or have experienced control-based patterns in language, acts, and systems. What is empowering to one, is not to another. Therefore, if we look at the original 12 steps, which were written by a man, from a woman's perspective, we may find them more empowering than they traditionally feel. On Friday, March 13, noon PT/3 p.m. ET/8 p.m. UK, Purpose Talk Radio guest Anne Wondra, of WonderSpirit Coaching, will talk about why this is and how we can empower ourselves to use those 12 steps and overcome anything that no longer serves our lives.
"I first heard of and met author Patricia Lynn Reilly at a bookstore event in 1996, shortly after my own awakening about perspective, words, control systems, and how women experience and hear words very differently," Anne says. She later read the book A Deeper Wisdom: Twelve Steps From a Woman's Perspective which she now is using as a basis for presentations and the interview on PTR.
Anne dances with life and spirit in ordinary life; she's a soul coach, writer, life coach, mystic, and muse; a connector and creative life re-story-er, teacher, travel partner and retreat speaker.
Each Friday at 12 noon PT/3 pm ET/8 pm UK, host Cindy Freeman and her guests bring insights and ideas to help you grow in your Soul path. Cindy's guests are live their life with a purpose and are willing to share with listeners how they got there and how others might benefit from their experience. Join Cindy live or archived to explore this area. Check out more information at Purpose Talk Radio or join the Facebook conversations Purpose Talk Radio Conversations.
Last week, a TV news reporter and her cameraman were shot live, on air by a former colleague. That story made national news but every day someone is killed by gun violence. The question is... Why? Does it have to be this way? Is there anything we can do to stop it or even slow it down? This week on IN THE KNOW, we'll talk with Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America about what they say are some common sense steps we can take as a country. I hope you'll join us tomorrow night at 8:00 pm for IN THE KNOW. And be sure to send me your thoughts, questions and comments even before the show.
