    "The True Sabbath Of Creation"

    in Christianity

    "The enemy of souls has sought to bring in the supposition that a great reformation was to take place among Seventh-day Adventists, and that this reformation would consist in giving up the doctrines which stand as the pillars of our faith, and engaging in a process of reorganization. Were this reformation to take place, what would result? The principles of truth that God in His wisdom has given to the remnant church, would be discarded. Our religion would be changed. The fundamental principles that have sustained the work for the last fifty years would be accounted as error. A new organization would be established. Books of a new order would be written. A system of intellectual philosophy would be introduced. The founders of this system would go into the cities, and do a wonderful work. The Sabbath of course, would be lightly regarded, as also the God who created it. Nothing would be allowed to stand in the way of the new movement. The leaders would teach that virtue is better than vice, but God being removed, they would place their dependence on human power, which, without God, is worthless. Their foundation would be built on the sand, and storm and tempest would sweep away the structure. {1SM 204.2}

Venita Smith, C & J Trophy and Engraving

    in Business

Venita and her husband, Duwayne, own C & J Trophy & Engraving, a family business.  The couple makes it work by setting serious boundaries.  Nestled between the University of Memphis campus and the Orange Mound Community, one of the largest and oldest black neighborhoods in the country. They purchased the business and property had been in business for over 30 years. The startup risk was low, but the stakes were high since they knew nothing about the awards and recognition industry.  For the first few years, The Smiths didn’t change a thing.  Fortunately, Venita had experience in retail and operations management and her husband had background in color proofing and lithographic photography, so they threw caution to the wind and went for it. And, eight years later, the rest is history.

Her first job, was at the Memphis in May International Festival as Secretary. That position would lead becoming its Operations Director for 10 years. That led her to become the Director of Operations at the National Civil Rights Museum.  During her 16-year tenure, she assisted with two renovation projects and two expansion projects all while managing the day-to-day operations of the 40,000 square foot facility, 13 full time staff members, security, housekeeping and IT contractors.  Venita retired in 2014 to focus more on the family business.

With her father owning a shoe repair business for over 30 years and her mother, who was a beautician and owned her own salon, Venita was destined to become an entrepreneur. Venita watched her parents as they worked together like hand and glove to provide a comfortable lifestyle for her family. They managed to work together as a team, like she and her husband Duwayne. Venita is the brain and Duwayne is the brawn.

    Sinful Morality-Rom 2 verse 1-11

    in The Bible

I don't know any letter that is more fundamental and foundational than Paul's letter to the Romans. It is unquestionably the greatest of all of Paul's letters and the widest in its scope. It is most intent and penetrating in its insight into the understanding of truth; therefore, it is one of the books of the New Testament with which every Christian ought to be thoroughly familiar. If you haven't mastered the book of Romans and aren't able to think through this book without a Bible before you, then I urge you to set that as your goal.

Master the book of Romans — be so acquainted with it that you can outline it and think of its great themes without a Bible open before you. That requires reading it and studying it and thinking it through in careful detail. It is safe to say that Romans probably is the most powerful human document that has ever been penned.

Paul's letter to the Romans was written about 56-58 A.D., somewhere around the middle of the 1st century, when the apostle was in Corinth on his third missionary journey. As you read this letter, you can catch glimpses of the conditions in the Greek city of Corinth. Corinth was located at the crossroads of trade in the empire. It was one of the notoriously wicked cities in the Roman world and much of that atmosphere is characterized here in the letter to the Romans.

This letter was written only about 30 years after the crucifixion and resurrection of the Lord Jesus. The memory of the cross still was sharply etched in the minds of Christians all over the Roman Empire. This letter was sent to them to teach them and instruct them and bring to their remembrance the meaning of these fantastic events that had so startled and amazed men in that 1st century.

Creative Family Welcomes Tamyra Brown Owner of All God's Children Nolensville

    in Spirituality

Tamyra D. Brown was born in partially raised in Northern Virginia and she moved, with her parents to Dickson, TN where she finished my formal schooling.

Education has always been a part of my life. Her mother Sallie Bradby is a retired school teacher of over 30 years. Her back ground varies from Special education, elementary education, and college educator. Her father Dennis, now retired, was employed with the correctional system for over 30 years in multiple capacities such as, warden, principal, faith based ministries, and other inmate programs.

After graduating high school, she attended MTSU and majored in education with a minor in dance. Upon graduating, Tamyra went on to pursue a Masters degree in education with a concentration in Administration and Supervision. She has taught at all age levels and environments.

While I worked for a private consulting agency, she traveled to many schools ( private, public, preschools, etc..) While visiting the preschools, it hit Tamyra how there was an urgent need for a clean, safe, loving, faith based childcare center. She took a leap and trusted in faith and decided to open a preschool. After many trials, tribulations, tears, and learning experiences, she got it right! Tamrya has had so much help from her family, her current director, Saundra Duffield, who has been with her since the beginning, and none of it would have been possible without our Father God.  Just over 1 year of opening All God's Children Early Learning Academy and we have a waiting list until next January for infants and all of our other classrooms are full with a waiting list.

Tamrya excited to see the children's faces everyday and we have a wonderful faculty and staff that make my "job" worth while.
