In Winnipeg, they don’t hibernate in the Canadian winter, they get out and enjoy it. Travel Brigade visits Manitoba’s biggest city where, when the rivers freeze over, people gather to skate and play hockey on them. This is a city where people actually ice skate to work! We’ll learn about local dining and fun hotels, places to keep warm, and Manitoba’s own version of “The Da Vinci Code” in the legislative building. We’ll also go from the outdoor cold indoors to a hot experience at a Turkish-style hamam. Enjoy the trip! Follow us on Twitter @TravelBrigade.

Experts in the service dog industry, Jeanne Hampl and Darcie Boltz share their perspective on a family highlighted with Matt Lauer who have a service dog for their small child. Can we expect a young child to know how to properly handle a dog by herself? During the interview the dog showed signs of stress that the general public wouldn't recognize, but had the dog industry ignite - like panting and yawning. This interview brings up a larger topic of service dog welfare that gets lost in the "feel-good" stories, like this, that get ignorantly run in the media all the time. My question is: WHAT ABOUT THE DOG?
Host David J. Diamond welcomes colleagues, Roberta Levitow (Co-founder and Director of Theatre Without Borders) and Frank Hentschker (Executive Director of The Segal Center) to discuss issues of Artists Working Internationally. At the imminent launch of the Cultural Mobility Funding Guide for the U.S., we will discuss resources, challenges and strategies for artists who wish to travel to other countries to work in the theatre, do residencies, study and present work.
The colleagues, along with Marie Le Sourd of On the Move and others, have created the first Funding Guide of this kind in the United States. On January 7th, they present a full-day Symposium at the Segal Center in New York City to launch the Guide and grapple with the challenges faced by artists working internationally. With over 250 artists, administrators, funders and supporters from around the world, they will discuss issues ranging from visa and legal issues to arts-human rights work.
Listen in to learn valuable information from these extraordinary practitioners. Call in with your questions, share information and be part of the conversation about this important topic.
