US Poverty. A by-Product of Political and Corporate Greed

    in Religion

Americans work 40-60 hours weekly and remain below poverty lines. Poverty levels in states are misrepresented mainly because all wealth in a particular states is used to average out population income. The more millionaires per states and the fewer residents equates fewer people showing up in poverty count. This process can never be totally accurate because there is no way we'll ever be able to track where and how many places the wealth of millionaires and billionaires is stored. Americans who are wealthy are not all corrupt. The system they earn gains under is corrupt. The American system creates poverty for all who work for their money in America while those whose money works for them continue to experiece gains in wealth just for having money working for them. Poverty is straigth out of slavery and poverty devastrates lives of working class Americans. We can't fix the heart of men. Fix the systems and we fix poverty.

Our Killing Fields: Murder In The Black Community

    in Current Events

We're in the midst of a late summer spike in violent crime in several predominately Black and poor areas of US cities.  While we're talking about systematic racism, policies at every level of government that perpetuated the wholesale disenfranchisement of African Americans, and the need to assert that our lives that have been marginalized and minimized by that system in so many ways do matter, we have to talk about what is going on in our own house, too.

What is behind this spike in violence in the Black community, and what are we going to do to about it?

Were going to have a real discussion about a real problem, and we'll try to come up with some real solutions.

We've got plenty of strong coffee, bring a big cup,

    PROGRESSIVE PAVILION

    in Politics

Listen to the Kansas Progressive Caucus meeting and a presentation on what are the issues Kansans are discussing.  The audio comes from the Aug. 22, 2015 "Progressive Pavilion" held during the Kansas Democratic Party's annual Wichita Demofest.

What's the matter with Kansas? "The Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy recently reported that Kansas has the ninth-most unfair tax system in the county.  A Kansan earning $47,700 a year pays 9.5 percent of income in state and local taxes; but someone earning $1,191,700 pays an effective rate of just 3.6 percent."

So much for the 'trickle down' libertarian economic theories masterminded by the Wichita plutocrats Charles & David Koch; and implemented by Gov. Sam Brownback and his cronies in the state legislature.

Kansas legislative news shorts provided by the Kansas National Organization of Women, the Kansas Democratic Party, Kansas Farmers Union, local news media, etc.

Global Markets React To Volatility, Nyitray, Dir.of Capital Markets – iServe

    in Finance

Fears over the health of China's economy kept world markets on edge this week and the country will remain in focus, along with the question of whether the Federal Reserve will raise interest rates next month.

Those concerns sent world stocks, commodities and currencies on a roller-coaster ride this week, and purchasing manager surveys due on Tuesday are expected to show manufacturing contracted during August in the world's second-biggest economy.

Federal Reserve officials who are most anxious to hike interest rates said on Friday that continued turmoil in financial markets may cause the central bank to delay tightening monetary policy beyond next month, even though the U.S. economy remains strong.

Joining the broadcast to discuss the economy, bond prices, the Fed and housing is Brent Nyitray, Director of Capital Markets at iServe Residential Lending.

Brent is responsible for managing iServe’s origination pipeline and Ginnie Mae securitizations. Prior to iServe, Brent was an analyst and trader at several hedge funds as well as ran the European Risk Arbitrage trading desk at Bear Stearns.  Brent is also the author of The Daily Tearsheet, a blog focused on the economy, financial markets and real estate.
