  • 9-2-2015- Should Black People Get Reperations ?/ Should Prostitution Be Legal?

    in Politics

To ADDRESS the terrible human and economic costs of slavery and racial injustice in the United States, many have proposed that reparations be paid to African-Americans.

Would this compensate for the wrongs that have been done? Is it fair or practical to consider it? And if reparations were approved, how would they be implemented?

Proponents of legalizing prostitution believe it would reduce crime, improve public health, increase tax revenue, help people out of poverty, get prostitutes off the streets, and allow consenting adults to make their own choices. They contend that prostitution is a victimless crime,Opponents believe that legalizing prostitution would lead to increases in sexually transmitted diseases such as AIDS, global human trafficking, and violent crime including rape and homicide. They contend that prostitution is inherently immoral, commercially exploitative, empowers the criminal underworld, and promotes the repression of women by men.

    in Politics Conservative

Hillary Clinton's armory of smoking guns exposed, among other things, satellite intel on North Korea’s nukes, while her potential jail time soars past fifteen centuries; While Obama's nuclear "deal" is encountering "unexpected" difficulty making an "ally" of the Islamic Empire of Iran, Democrats are lining up like lemmings in support of it anyway; Baltimore Police Department preparing for a war they won't be allowed to fight while conservative women are daring to call #BlackLivesMatter precisely what they really are; plus the ObamaCare 'Cadillac Tax' will eliminate millions of tax-free HSAs & FSAs, the U.S. Supreme Court crushes the Kentucky Anti-Sodomarriage Rebellion, Wall Street sags again as faith in Fed easy money irrationally lingers, and the Senate GOP vows to (again) give up on defunding Planned Parenthood.

MARSH AND LOPEZ APPROVE ASSESSMENT TAXES

    in News

Candidates for Mayor, Garrad Marsh and Dave Lopez have voted to give more tax money to some of the same people who were involved in  SCAP and Neighborhood Stabilization Program.

“Mayor Garrad Marsh said he was pleased with the outcome but said he understands there are those who are not. He said local government is part of downtown and is paying the assessment just like all other property owners within the district.

The impetus to create the district came out of the Downtown Modesto Partnership – a group of property and business owners, downtown supporters and the city and county – to find a way to improve the city center. Some of those involved in the effort include Gallo Center for the Arts CEO Lynn Dickerson, attorney Dave Gianelli and Ryan Swehla with the commercial real estate firm NAI Benchmark.

A nonprofit will be formed to manage the community benefit district. Assessments are expected to go out later this year, and the district is expected to provide services in 2016.”
