Sustainable Development: Green is the New Red

    in Politics Conservative

In the quest to be more environmentally friendly, Sustainable Development is the new buzz word being used.
But what is Sustainable Development really about and what does it mean for you?
Join us as we discuss the implications of Sustainable Development on your property rights, land use, energy use, individual rights and your local government.
; global land use, global education, and global population control and reduction.
What does this mean for you?
It means an infringement upon your property rights; your individual rights will take a back seat to the collective and as your town signs up for sustainable program, local control of  will be given over to non-elected government officials.
The call for action on Sustainable Development is  on the local level.  Therefore, it's important to know what your town has signed up for in the name of "Saving the Environment."
John Anthony, founder of Sustainable Freedom Lab, will join us to help separate the facts from myth on the goals of Sustainable Development

Episode 15: Sustainable Development - The Promise of Technology

    in Education

    Wednesday, December 3, 2014 - 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm EST

John Robinson, Managing Partner and CEO, Our Ability

For the past 22 years, the annual observance of the International Day of Disabled Persons with aims to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities. It also seeks to increase awareness of gains to be derived from the integration of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life. The theme of this year's observance is “Sustainable Development: The Promise of Technology."

The emergence of information and communications technologies (ICTs) have dramatically increased connectivity between people and their access to information, and further raised living standards. ICTs have changed the way people live, work and play. However, not all people benefit from the advances of technology and the higher standards of living. This is mainly because not all people have access to new technologies.

Today, there are over 1 billion people living in the world with some form of disability. Persons with disabilities not only face physical barriers but also social, economic and attitudinal barriers. In spite of being the world’s largest minority group, persons with disabilities and the issue of disability has remained largely invisible in the mainstream development frameworks and its processes.

Sustainable Development: The Truth Behind the Hype

    in Politics Conservative

Sustainable Development.  A feel good term that is defined as  "development that meets the needs of today without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs."

The problem is that the "needs" the report refers to are not human needs but those of the planet. It concludes we can only meet them by eliminating or reducing "unsustainable" activities globally. These include property ownership, consumerism, and high meat intake, use of fossil fuels, roadways, automobiles, dams, our legal system, pastures, golf courses and more

While many see sustainable development as a safe way to protect the planet, many other groups see sustainable development as a political agenda in which it is acceptable to sever personal rights in the name of the environment.

Does Sustainable Development require us to give up some of our most basic freedoms for the sake of the planet and the good of others?

John Anthony, founder of the Sustainable Freedom Lab joins "Common Sense" to discuss the impact of Sustainable Development on our everyday life, where and how we live and how it is making its way into our communities.
