Cosmic Citizen continues with Paper 196 : The Faith of Jesus

    in Spirituality

Our series continues discussing paper 196:

196:3.20.  Every time man makes a reflective moral choice, he immediately experiences a new divine invasion of his soul. Moral choosing constitutes religion as the motive of inner response to outer conditions. But such a real religion is not a purely subjective experience. It signifies the whole of the subjectivity of the individual engaged in a meaningful and intelligent response to total objectivity—the universe and its Maker.

The exquisite and transcendent experience of loving and being loved is not just a psychic illusion because it is so purely subjective. The one truly divine and objective reality that is associated with mortal beings, the Thought Adjuster, functions to human observation apparently as an exclusively subjective phenomenon...

True religious worship is not a futile monologue of self-deception. Worship is a personal communion with that which is divinely real, with that which is the very source of reality. Man aspires by worship to be better and thereby eventually attains the best.

The idealization and attempted service of truth, beauty, and goodness is not a substitute for genuine religious experience—spiritual reality. Psychology and idealism are not the equivalent of religious reality. The projections of the human intellect may indeed originate false gods—gods in man's image—but the true God-consciousness does not have such an origin. The God-consciousness is resident in the indwelling spirit. Many of the religious systems of man come from the formulations of the human intellect, but the God-consciousness is not necessarily a part of these grotesque systems of religious slavery.

Please join us in the continuing discussion and pleasure of engaging with each other in this amazing discovery.

    UDL: "The Trick Word "Terrorism"

    in Education

"Terrorism": The Word Itself Is Dangerous
    John V. Whitbeck

The greatest threat to world peace and civil society today is clearly "terrorism" - not the behavior to which the word is applied but the word itself. Since the word "terrorism" (like the behavior to which the word is applied) can never be eradicated, it is imperative to expose it for what it is - a word.

For years, people have recited (often with a wry smile) the truisms that "One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter" and that "Terrorism, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder". However, with the world's sole superpower declaring an open-ended, worldwide "war on terrorism", proclaiming that this "war" has only just begun and promising to persevere until "victory", the notorious subjectivity of this word is no longer a joke.

WORLD WIDE AFRICA THE VOICE OF THE PAN AFRICAN MOVEMENT

    in Politics

Where there is courage, where there is self-respect and dignity, there is a possibility that we can change the conditions and win. This is is a possibility that we can change the conditions and win. This is called /revolutionary enthusiasm/ and it is the kind of struggle that is needed in order to guarantee a victory. If we must die, then we will die the death of a revolutionary suicide that says, “If I am put down, if I am driven out, I refuse to be swept out with a broom. I would much rather be driven out with a stick because if I am swept out with the broom it will humiliate me and I will lose my self-respect. But if I am driven out with the stick, then, at least, I can claim the dignity of a man and die the death of a man rather than the death of a dog.” Of course, our real desire is to live, but we will not be cowed, we will not be intimidated.

I would like to explain to you the method that the Black Panther Party used to arrive at our ideological position, and more than that, I would like to give to you a framework or a process of thinking that might help us solve the problems and the contradictions that exist today. Before we approach the problem we must get a clear picture of what is really going on; a clear image divorced from the attitudes and emotions that we usually project into a situation. We must be as objective as possible without accepting dogma, letting the facts speak for themselves. But we will not remain totally objective; we will become subjective in the application of the knowledge received from the external world. We will use the scientific method to acquire this knowledge, but we will openly
acknowledge our ultimate subjectivity. Once we apply knowledge in order to will a certain outcome our objectivity ends and our subjectivity begins. We call this integrating theory with practice, and this is what the Black Panther Party is all about.

    Inside MLB

    in Baseball

he final week of the 2015 MLB season is upon us, and there is still a lot to be decided.

The National League playoff picture is fairly clear, with the Los Angeles Dodgers close to clinching the final spot and the Pittsburgh Pirates pulling ahead of the Chicago Cubs for the right to host the Wild Card Game. The Dodgers will meet the New York Mets, while the St. Louis Cardinals will await the wild-card winner.

Over in the American League, things aren't nearly as clear.

The Toronto Blue Jays and Kansas City Royals have both clinched, but with identical records, they are still battling for the best record and No. 1 seed.

The Texas Rangers have taken control of the AL West standings and the New York Yankees are firmly entrenched in the No. 1 wild-card spot, but the Houston Astros, Los Angeles Angels and Minnesota Twins are still battling it out for the last postseason slot.

All of that should make for an exciting final week, but for now, let's take an updated look at how all 30 teams stack up around the league.

When putting together this list, we considered the following factors:

    Last week's record

    Quality of opponent

    Key injuries/trades

Recent performance beyond the last week

The goal, as always, is to be as objective as possible. But a certain amount of subjectivity will always come into play with something like this.

Just remember: This is a fluid process. Teams will rise and fall on a weekly basis relative to where they ranked previously. If you keep winning, you keep climbing—it's as simple as that.

    Inside MLB

    in Baseball

There are just two weeks remaining in the 2015 MLB regular season, and the postseason picture is still far from decided around the league.

The AL East and AL West division titles are both still up for grabs, and the same goes for the second AL wild-card spot where four teams are within four games of one another.

On the National League side, the five postseason teams appear to be set, but the three NL Central contenders are still jockeying for position and trying to avoid the Wild Card Round game.

That should make for an exciting final two weeks, but for now, let's take an updated look at how all 30 clubs currently stack up.
