I came up with this topic through watching a sermon about forgiveness. The pastor talked about guilt and how it is an oxymoron to be a guity Christian. God has been drilling that into me recently because he knows how much unforgiveness to ourselves and essentially others messes up our walk with him.
There is a good thing about guilt that brings sorrow when we are convicted and we come to God in repentance, but there is a bad type of guilt that brings a different type of sorrow. I have experienced both, worldly sorrow before I came to Christ and unfortunately both as a Christian.
2 Corinthians 7:10 "For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death."
A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world.
22 And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.

Isn't the heart where we experience joy and sorrow? How can it not be? Is not the cup that holds your wine, the very cup that was burned in the potter's oven? When you are joyous, look deep into your heart and you shall find it is only that which has given you sorrow is the same source of your joy. When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight. Only when you are empty are you at standstill and balanced. This is a season of great suffering and trouble for so many people in this generation. The people in positions to make a real difference for good have consistantly chosen to allow people to suffer and some people in power are causing human suffering at a level that is hard to imagine. People that have no faith in God will be asking, even aching for an answer to the horrors people are facing. People that have faith in God are also feeling grief and sorrow, because human suffering affects everyone in very real ways, and when we have no way to help, and when we see human evil and it is not being limited or restrained, we are also wounded in our hearts and souls. What can be done in a season of heart-breaking pain, and what does the contrast of seeing some people celebrating, seemingly untouched by suffering, create in our own souls?

Proverbs 25:25 As cold water to a weary soul, So is good news from a far country.
Blessed is the man that finds wisdom because length of days is in her right hand and riches and honor in her left hand.
2 Peter 1:2-7
3 ... His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, 4 by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature
Did you know that sometimes Jesus Himself shuts down churches?
"I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place—unless you repent."
Did you know that Jesus opposes churches that hold to false teaching?
"In the same way, you also have those who hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitans. Therefore repent! Otherwise, I will come to you quickly and fight against them with the sword of My mouth."
And did you know that sometimes Jesus is the author of sickness, sorrow, and death within the church?
"Look! I will throw her into a sickbed and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of her practices. I will kill her children with the plague. Then all the churches will know that I am the One who examines minds and hearts, and I will give to each of you according to your works."
And did you know that Jesus opposes hypocrisy and rejects lukewarmness within the church?
"I know your works; you have a reputation for being alive, but you are dead... I will come against you...I will vomit you out of My mouth."
To truly understand the God of grace,
