    All Atheists Have a Story

    in Atheism

"All religion, my friend, is simply evolved out of fraud, fear, greed  imagination and poetry". Edgar Allen Poe    NO ATHEIST should be afraid to say "I AM AN ATHEIST." I tallk to atheists all over the world that have a difficult time "coming out" as an atheist. Some will be murdered if they do. Others would be shunned or disowned by their families. Even in th USA it is illegal in some states for atheists to hold office. This is a crime. We need to stick together and we need to help others like ourselves to embrace their atheism. We ask atheists to tell their personal stories of how they came to atheism and how they deal with the blowback of tryihng to be open about their atheism. Our stories can help others make that leap of unfaith...

    Stars Clap Books over Bullys

    in Education

Join us each Wendsday  as we bring back the joy of reading a book- Our Current Book is Because of the Moon by C.J. Cutayne

Obedience is for dogs,” spouts Jay Roberts, a mischievous teen with a wicked sense of humor. Arrested for his involvement in a chop shop, Jay has two choices: go to juvenile detention or move to the impoverished Indian reservation his mother shunned fourteen years ago where his estranged grandfather will oversee Jay’s penance. Either way he won't enjoy the fruits of his latest prank "Rat-Day".

Jay doesn’t belong in the run-down village and vows to return to the city when his sentence over, if not sooner. He resents his frequently absent mother for making him move three weeks before school is over. A school where everyone calls him "Apple" for some reason. Jay goes through the motions of his community service while planning his escape. His plan to stop the school bully will either win him the respect of his peers or turn him into "apple sauce".

Keeping everyone at arms length, Jay watches with indifference as family by family, the people move away. After thousands of years on their ancestral land the villagers have given up hope of survival. Gradually Jay learns to appreciate his Grampa and the quirky tribe members. When Grampa points to Orion's belt, in the sky, Jay asks "If his belt fell down would we see a full moon?" and the two click.

Jay devises a plan to keep the village together protecting the history and tradition he is inherently a part of. When the plan threatens to fall apart can Jay reach out to the unreliable village alcoholic to pull them through?

The Plight of the Blameless and Upright

    in Christianity

In Job Chapter one, a man named Job is described as "blameless and upright".  The plight of Job is further described as a man with a family and possessions.  There was a day that arrived when Satan came before God with those that were serving God.  I always say that Satan is a stalker because the scripture says that he had just been walking to and fro searching the earth.  The scripture describes that the Lord suggested to Satan that was a servant that was excellent in all his ways and was blameless and upright.  The scripture further describes that Job feared God and shunned evil.  Satan suggested that Job was only serving God because of the blessings that God could bestow upon Job and his family.  To prove Satan wrong, God released Satan and gave him permission to attack Job.  Sometimes when a believer has done all you can do to serve God and to take precautions to shun evil, Satan, who is your enemy, will ask for permission to stalk you and test your motives about why it is you serve God.  This can be the plight of the blameless and upright.  Questions will be asked and the tests and trials will ensue.  Satan desires to suggest accusations about your service and your faith as well as why you serve Jesus.  The plight of the blameless and upright is laced with unfair accusation, set-ups, betrayals and dissappointments.  Once our integrity and faithfulness is proven, God is faithful to restore us.

"The Secret Enemy Within"- FIRE & ICE on KLJN 107.7 w/ Taralyn & Soul Kitten

    in Radio

    DESCRIPTION

    KLJN 107.7

When most people hear the words, “mental illness’ oftentimes they associate it with negative connotations cultivated by societal views and personal stigmas. For example, the fear of being labeled “crazy” by their peers, family, and shunned in their communities is a major issue why many Americans shy away from discussing the topic of mental health/mental illness particularly minorities.

Why is this topic so taboo to many of us? Mental health/mental illness continues to be a topic that many are unfamiliar with and lack proper understanding due to the stigma associated with fear of the unknown and being ostracized in society.

According to the World Health Organization, mental health is defined as “a state of well-being in which the individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to his or her community,” (Mental Wellness/Your Health/UNC).

“Psychological health refers to an individual’s overall state of mental well-being, incorporating emotions, stress, mental illness, sense of belonging, connectedness and life satisfaction,”(Psychological Health: Safety, Health and Wellbeing).

    The Poor are Shunned

    in Religion

James 5:1-5  1 Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming on you. 2 Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes. 3 Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days. 4 Look! The wages you failed to pay the workers who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty. 5 You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter.

I hear many conservative Christian leaders speak against the gays and the abortionist and the liberals but never against greed.   Throughout the Bible, God calls us to fight against corruption, and to stand with the poor.  The fight during this shutdown  is such a fight and I look to  scripture to make my choice.  Many elected republicans used the Christian Evangelical vote to gain there seat and I think it is time they started earning that vote.  If we believe ourselves to be Christian then we can't turn our back on scripture that is too difficult to put into practice.  The people are crying out and they are being ignored by the very people who claim to love God.  However, they don't love God or His people but they do love money.

Deut.24:14 Do not take advantage of a hired worker who is poor and needy, whether that worker is a fellow Israelite or a foreigner residing in one of your towns. 15 Pay them their wages each day before sunset, because they are poor and are counting on it. Otherwise they may cry to the LORD against you, and you will be guilty of sin. Prov. 14:20 The poor are shunned even by their neighbors, but the rich have many friends. Prov. 21:13 Whoever shuts their ears to the cry of the poor will also cry out and not be answered.
