Dream Catchers – Disability Awareness Garden - Planting the Seeds of Hope  LesPaul

One day I was driving down the road on a beautiful sunny day when like a flash out of the heavens, images just started blasting through my mind! I had to pull off of the road grab a notebook out of the back of my car and start writing it all down.  It was beyond belief.

Out of nowhere, where did this come from I said aloud to myself as it appeared to me as a vision out of the blue. I pulled quickly of a very busy road stunned in disbelief and also awestruck by the beauty of what I had seen in the vision!

I suddenly heard in my mind say you want to build a Brain Injury Garden? I sat there thinking where did this come from as I pulled off of the highway onto the curb as I close my eyes and vividly saw a botanical garden of setting with flowers of multiple colors and styles, plants and shrubs of all different types and I mean gorgeous not your typical.

Tonight I want to challenge people with and without brain injuries and other disabilities to help me build this disability awareness Garden to show the beauty of the lives that live on and fight for freedom and dignity and in memory of those who have passed! Join me in a beautiful discussion as we sit down and plant the seeds of hope of awareness around the globe!!! Bring you gardening tools as we begin planting the hope for tomorrow today!!!

URBAN FOREST GARDENS IN SEATTLE-MELANIE COERVER

    in Culture

ENVISION THIS: An edible urban forest garden that inspires the community to gather together, grow their own food, and rehabilitate their local ecosystem

Our guest, Melanie Coerver, of Beacon Food Forest in Seattle, has joined with her community to design, plant, and grow an edible urban forest garden to improve public health by regenerating their public land, reducing agricultural climate impact, improving local food security, providing educational opportunities, and celebrating growing food for the benefit of all species.

A food forest is a gardening technique or land management system, which mimics a woodland ecosystem by substituting edible trees, shrubs, perennials and annuals. Fruit and nut trees make up the upper level, while berry shrubs, edible perennials and annuals make up the lower levels. The Beacon Food Forest combines aspects of native habitat rehabilitation with edible forest gardening. ??Their goal is to bring the richly diverse Seattle community together by fostering a Permaculture Tree Guild approach to urban farming and land stewardship. By building a community around sharing food with the public, they are becoming inclusive to all in need of food.

At their website, http://www.beaconfoodforest.org,  they say, “By building a community around sharing food with the public we hope to be inclusive to all in need of food. ??The Food Forest is set to include an Edible Arboretum with fruits gathered from regions around the world, a Berry Patch for canning, gleaning and picking, a Nut Grove with trees providing shade and sustenance, a Community Garden using the p-patch model for families to grow their own food, a Gathering Plaza for celebration and education, a Kid's Area for education and play and a Living Gateway to connect and serve as portals as you meander through the forest.”

Activating Compassion In The Midnight Hour - Weed Out Hate

    in Spirituality

Jesse interviews Marc Daniels – founder of Weed Out Hate.  He is taking his grandfather’s vision of nurturing trees and shrubs which connection home owners to nature, to the next level; intending to better connect future generations of gardeners, and kindergartners with nature for the higher purpose of improving the fabric of society. Weed Out Hate removes the obstacles that prevent us from feeling and drawing upon the strong roots that we already have; and assists in enriching and stimulating our education roots.  Marc says that it empowers even the smallest child to condition his future self as well as the future garden through learning to remove acculturated prejudice.  He has spent 30 years of his professional life working with the green industry; and the past 5 years focused on researching the spiritual, cultural, and ecological roots of global gardening trends; and feels it is time to sow the seeds of inspiration and wisdom.  We look at Marc’s Weed Out Hate organization and spiritual insights through gardening.  You can learn more about his work at www.weedouthate.org

Natural Laws Can Guide You with Heather Price

    in Spirituality

Welcome to Wake Up with Heather Price Radio with your host Heather Price.
Today I talk about how we can find the answers we are looking for in nature, if only we take the time to be there in the first place.
There are many natural laws that we can learn about when we take the time to observe wheat happens in nature. Such laws can be used as metaphors for life.
The natural laws you will most likely be most family with are the Law of Cause and Affect (or Karma), and the Law of Attraction. However, there are other laws, such as the Law of Oneness, the Law of Bounty & Gratitude, the Law of Polarity, the Law of Reciprocity (Give Back) , teh Law of Ciculation and Cycles, and the Law of Rebirth (regrowth) that can guide us during times of challenge.
While clearing out my back garden today, cutting back old, dead branches, i became aware of  how exposed my view into my neighbour/s back yard suddenly became. For a moment i regretted clearing it all away, and then my mind jumped to the future and I could imagine all the new growth that would bring beautiful colours to my back yard. It would be worth the wait and the lack of privacy as my shrubs went about theri natural cycle of regrowth and rebirth.
As I cut down each branch, I could feel something lighten in side of me, as my intention alone to connect to the process seemed to free me. There is something liberating about clearing space and letting in the light.
Listen in here to my reflection on how connecting with nature can help you to be clearer about your life and give clues as to the next step. I will also talk about Shamanic Walks and how these have helped so many people find their way during stressful times.
    Have a great day
    Blessings
    Heather

Gen 21:14  And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread and a bottle of water, and gave it unto Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, and gave her the child, and sent her away. And she departed, and wandered in the wilderness of Beer-sheba.Gen 21:15  And the water in the bottle was spent, and she cast the child under one of the shrubs.Gen 21:16  And she went, and sat her down over against him a good way off, as it were a bowshot. For she said, Let me not look upon the death of the child. And she sat over against him, and lifted up her voice, and wept.Gen 21:17  And God heard the voice of the lad. And the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said unto her, What aileth thee, Hagar? Fear not. For God hath heard the voice of the lad where he is.Gen 21:18  Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him in thy hand. For I will make him a great nation.Gen 21:19  And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water. And she went, and filled the bottle with water, and gave the lad drink.Gen 21:20  And God was with the lad, and he grew. And he dwelt in the wilderness, and became, as he grew up, an archer.
