Parents who advocate for education reform may sometimes find themselves at odds with school administrators, some of whom parent activists may be blaming for low student academic performance. When a parent dares to speak out against what the parent believes are harmful policies or practices in the school, does that parent and that parent's child get targeted for retaliation by school officials. Bogan High School LSC Parent Leader Reva Brown shares her story and raises questions about the rights of parents to stand up to school officials when they believe their children are being deliberately denied a good education.
When parents advocate for better education for their children, some school administrators may take their complaints as a personal attack, what happens when school officials and parents are at odds? Local School Council parent leader Reva Brown tells her story and raises the question: When school officials attack parents who fight for better education, what are we really teaching our children?
The use of social media channels by educators continues to expand. Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube, blogs, and other online destinations are where just about everyone interacts. What does the social media explosion mean for education marketing? How can suppliers of products and services best leverage social media channels to engage school administrators who make the buying decisions? How important is social media as part of the school marketing mix? Join host Glen McCandless for a 15-minute discussion around this timely topic as we welcome Charlene Blohm, an education-market focused PR and social media marketing expert.

What is driving this trend, what impact is it having, and what should you be doing to refocus and reshape your businesses? How do you ensure future success as we continue to feel the affects of the new business models and new players in the K-12 space? Join host Glen McCandless, author of new article on this topic, for an interview with industry veteran Lou Pugliese, a leader who has been in the thick of this shift and can offer front-line perspective.
Going away to college is a time in a young persons' life that should be about discovery, learning, and making lifelong friends. However, as parents send their children away from home, some for the very first time, there is even more to be anxious about, especially their safety on campus.
According to the Justice Department, "1 in 5 women will be a victim of rape or attempted rape." When these incidents occur on campus property they are in the jurisdiction of campus police, and many victims do not report, or are discouraged to report by school administrators.
With sexual assaults, active shooters, and luring into human trafficking from our college campuses, the college experience has changed.
Guest for the hour S. Daniel Carter will discuss these issues and what is being done to create real, enforceable guidelines for campuses to follow in order to make the environment safer for students everywhere.
