Hiring trends for ed tech sales professional and shifts in compensation for school sales specialists -- these are important indicators of the health of the educational technology industry. If you sell products and services to educators, staying on top of the job market is essential. If you are a manager looking for ed tech sales talent, how will you compete for the best sales professionals? What does the big picture look like for ed tech sales in 2016? What sales skills are ed tech companies looking for? Are inside sales channels gaining ground or is a field team the preferred way to sell to school administrators? These are some of the questions we unpack during our fast-paced annual K-12 industry forecast with sales recruiter, Mark Phillips, of HireEducation. Mark joins host Glen McCandless. In just 15 minutes we unpack the hiring landscape for professionals in the 2016 school market. Don't miss out!
When parents advocate for better education for their children, some school administrators may take their complaints as a personal attack, what happens when school officials and parents are at odds? Local School Council parent leader Reva Brown tells her story and raises the question: When school officials attack parents who fight for better education, what are we really teaching our children?
Parents who advocate for education reform may sometimes find themselves at odds with school administrators, some of whom parent activists may be blaming for low student academic performance. When a parent dares to speak out against what the parent believes are harmful policies or practices in the school, does that parent and that parent's child get targeted for retaliation by school officials. Bogan High School LSC Parent Leader Reva Brown shares her story and raises questions about the rights of parents to stand up to school officials when they believe their children are being deliberately denied a good education.
ABOUT THE SHOW
It is a known fact the USA gets a big fat “F” for poor sex education in schools! Let’s face it, the CDC states that 1 out of every 4 new HIV infections reported is a young human life between the ages of 13 and 24! Regardless of your beliefs in sex education (abstinence only or more comprehensive approaches) this nation is facing a serious public health crisis and something has to be done about it! So we are bringing to you two amazing young high school leaders who are paving the way for HIV prevention and awareness in their high school! Attention school administrators and educators across the nation: you might just learn something and start an HIV Awareness Club in your school! We will talk about issues facing teens and we will offer some profound, successful solutions! So get ready! Pack your lunch (or in this case dinner) and join us on February 7, 2016 - 9 PM (EST) / 8 PM (CST), because we are all going back to school!
ABOUT OUR GUESTS
Ewuraba Annan and Jimmy Demiro are the co-Presidents of the Staten Island Technical High School HIV/AIDS Awareness Club! Under their dedicated leadership, the members of this club work to educate students about safer sex, while simultaneously working to eradicate HIV-related stigma! Every year they are tasked with bringing in speakers who are living with HIV to share personal experiences. These students, while on their way out to college to continue their mission to empower youth to make healthier life choices, will share their experiences as co-Presidents of their school’s HIV Awareness club, share their insight about what’s really happening “behind closed doors” and what they believe are the solutions needed to change the public health crisis of HIV.
With so many different personalities in schools, as parents, we often find ourselves dealing with social problems or other conflicts our children are having with their peers. With the child’s attention being focused on the problem, learning is often compromised. Join the APS teachers as we explore this topic and share tools that can change the difficulties and struggles children sometimes have with their peers.

When the clock approaches 5:00 p.m., do you start worrying about what to have for dinner? Are you tired of using fast food as the answer? If so, try this old-school trick that's back in fashion — menu planning.
Menu planning is a great way to make sure you're eating a balanced diet and meeting your nutritional needs. And, as every frugal cook knows, menu planning can save you time and money.
Benefits of menu planning
You can have a big impact on your health — and your budget — just by eating at home more often. With menu planning you know what your meals will look like and what you need to buy. That makes grocery shopping more efficient and cuts down on unplanned trips to buy one or two items. And with a grocery list in hand — a byproduct of good menu planning — it's easier to resist impulse purchases.
Menu planning doesn't have to be complicated. To get started, jot down some of your favorite meals. Cooking for a family? Ask them to suggest menu ideas, too. For more inspiration, flip through cookbooks or check out recipe websites. You can even find sample menus and menu-planning apps online.

SALLIE O. ELKORDY FOR MAYOR,
January started out as “Cervical Cancer Awareness Month” per Resolution 531 put forth by the NYC City Council last year (for the purpose of promoting the HPV Vaccine according to the HuffPost). In 2015 I warned the City Council about the new Gardasil 9; the dangers of the regular version of Gardasil and even secured Norma Erickson of Sanevax.org (the authoritative source) to advise them. Although not ignored, the warning presented was. Two resolutions passed: the one I mentioned and another, in support of a State level bill for the administration of STD vaccines (including the HPV vaccine) without parental consent. This bill may be voted on in 2016 in NY State, as well as another State bill to add the HPV vaccine to the schedule in order for children to attend school.
It seemed clear that PUSHBACK was necessary, so I set out to interview Gardasil Victims and their families to educate our legislators and as a warning to parents and young women (and now men) being offered this vaccine. Freda Birrell, also of Sanevax.org provided the introductions that readily facilitated this effort. The multiple interviews below are the result of these introductions and the monthly stand I take at City Hall to bring attention to vaccine injury and death was made relevant for January through their inclusion:
