with your host Robin White Turtle Lysne, M.A., M.F.A., Ph.D.

Evolve! will bring you people and ideas on the cutting edge of change opening the shells of the past to move our culture into the now.

Robin's guest this month is author and artist, Barbara Thomas.

Barbara Thomas is an artist and author who writes and paints and has been inspired by the angels and elementals that appear on her land in a redwood forest near Ben Lomond, CA. "Angels and elementals appear in the mix of color I put on canvas. Writings have been given to me in the early morning hours. A whole book was given one line at a time. As I wrote the story I saw pictures I had painted 30 years earlier that illustrated the story."

Barbara has traveled the world on bicycle, train and by foot in 32 different countries sometimes with her husband, the late Jim Thomas. She has loved many lands, taken many trips to Findhorn in Scotland, and has learned a great deal from many indigenous people all over the world about their relationship with the land. She now manages 12 acres of forest, a guest house, and a sacred grove of trees called The Amphitheater. She also has a blog about lessons she has learned from the Angels and Elementals. Her book, The Burned Woman is on her website: http://www.BarbaraThomas.info.

Join Barbara Thomas, 86 year old wise woman and Robin White Turtle Lysne, as they explore the meaning of destiny and what she has learned from the Elementals and Angels on Evo

Brittany Billmeyer-Finn an Oakland Based writer and co-creator of Pushing Margins, a summer art and writing camp taking place in July (8th-12th) for LGBGTQQIA (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex and allied) high school youth. The camp will be hosted by Mills College through their Community Outreach Education Center on the Mills College Campus.
Call in to 646.716.5510 during the show to ask questions or offer your comments. For one week during the summer, LGBTQQIA (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, Intersex, and Allies) high school age youth from across the Bay Area will come together to paint, draw, write, and otherwise create a new youth art culture. Under the direction of experienced local artists and writers, students will make art that explores their complex and individual identities, investigating how their sense of self is informed by their experiences of race, gender, sexuality, ethnicity, class, religion, and nationality.  One major problem in schools and classrooms is the presence bullying as it relates to racism, classism, sexism, and homophobia. We will address this problem of bullying by establishing an environment where students have the time and material to artistically investigate their identities and potentially interrogate and dismantle oppressive power dynamics within our cultures.

Nurturing the New in Consciousness, the Arts, and Culture

with your host Robin White Turtle Lysne, M.A., M.F.A., Ph.D.

This weeks guest is artist and gallery owner, Phil Bongiorno, whose work defies categorization on all levels. As we all know, every day brings with it change, and the essence of change is laden with a wide variation of emotion. Phil seeks to embrace these day-to-day, moment-to-moment nuances.

He is a free stylist seeking to use whatever instrument or tool will best replicate the given moment his deeper self is currently experiencing--whether it be a living passion seeking to wrest itself from the womb, or somber walk through a past Hell. His intent is to take you on a journey so that you may experience the raw emotion that Phil exudes and to share his captivating work with the world.

You can catch glimpses of his soul in the textures and colors that come to rest and take home in all his various forms of expression at his Studio in Santa Clara, Ca. where he features his art.  Studio-Bongiorno is an Oasis in a Sea of sameness where the arts are a broad stroke of the brush, showcasing local artists, music, poetry and other eclectic happenings.

Located in the historic California Monument Building, directly behind Santa Clara Mission Cemetery.

To Embrace the Light and Dark within us all.
