Up until just a generation ago, rifle marksmanship programs were familiar features on school campuses in America. Millions of Americans learned to shoot at school programs taught in school basements, in school gyms and at ranges the schools took school children to as part of their school's marksmanship programs.
Then it started disappearing in the 60s, even more in the 70s. By the 80s it had almost vanished. Very few schools remain that have active rifle marksmanship programs. But, that is starting to change. And we can help change it.
When I was a kid, everyone I knew had firearms and did at least some type of shooting. Hunting, skeet, target practice and just plinking on evenings and weekends. Even all of the girls I knew growing up knew how to shoot. Now, I live rurally, and of the kids living out rurally today, very few have had any kind of experience, introduction or instruction in firearms and shooting. I imagine the kids in cities have had even less.
This poses a very real problem for the future of our 2nd Amendment rights. When these millions of kids, who have never had any involvement in the shooting sports industry become of voting age, they will have no dog in this hunt. To them, having the right to posses or use a firearm means nothing. They have never owned a firearm, never experienced shooting, so what would they miss? Getting rifle marksmanship into the Schools should be a priority for Americans who are concerned about the direction the erosion of our 2A rights has been taking. We should be pushing for a very up front and aggressive educational program for rifle marksmanship in our schools.
Jim and Kim Heath, two of the Appleseed Project volunteers have been doing just that and they will be on the show tonight to tell us how to go about getting rifle marksmanship programs into our schools.

"The rifle itself has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own. Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles." -Col. Jeff Cooper, Firearms Pioneer “To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms, and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them.” -Richard Henry Lee, a signer of the Declaration of Independence and crafter of the Second Amendment "The unarmed man is not just defenseless -- he is also contemptible." -Machiavelli Minute-of-Angle, Point of Aim/Point of Impact, Natural Point of Aim, Cheek Weld, Trigger Control, Off-Hand, Kneeling, Prone...

We had a great "Ghosts of Goliad" Fundamentals of Rifle course this last weekend with the Central Texas Militia. They did a great job and we hope to work with them again in the future. They are doing their best to insure they have thew rifle skills to defend their selves and their loved ones, and the State of Texas and The Constitution of The United States. They are continuing to improve their education and skill sets.
We had a 10 minute class on beer making, as well as short discussions of alternate power and about water storage and purification. These folks are trying to learn how to become more self reliant and better prepared to handle situations which might arise during man made or natural cessation of services events.
The folks in the III%ers/Grid Down Communication Course the weekend before were doing the same. Learning to communicte when the normal systems go down
What are you doing to insure you have the ability to feed, defend and care for your family, loved ones and neighbors in the coming year?

Guns, rifles, and other firearms have been an important part of American culture and history, long before there was a United States of America. It is no surprise that when the founding fathers wrote the U.S. Constitution, right after free speech, a free and independent press, and the right of free association, the right to own and bear personal firearms was right at the top of the list of American citizen rights. Sadly, not all Americans have embraced this right lawfully, or with a sense of community. These are the individuals we know as "Outlaws."
Over the centuries, Americans have frequently idealized and romanticized outlaws both in legend and written history. In the old American West, they had names like "Billy the Kid," "the James Gang," and Wyatt Earp. During the interwar period and Great Depression of the 20th century, outlaws took on a "Robin Hood" mystique which along with weak state and federal firearms laws and law enforcement, allow them to roam the countryside taking what they wanted. And through it all, from the 19th century today, they all had one common thing linking them: Guns.
To learn more about American outlaws and the guns that made them both famous and notorious, join military historian, author and journalist John D. Gresham for Military Monday at 1 p.m. EST. His guests today will be the noted Zenith Press (@Zenith_Press) husband-and-wife writing team, Gerry and Janet Souter. They will be discussing their new book GUNS OF OUTLAWS, which chronicles the famous firearms of American outlaws over the past several centuries. In addition to the more famous outlaws and gains most people are familiar with, Gerry and Janet will talk about some of the lesser-known criminals and gunfighters over the years.
The conversation around the politics of hip hop mirrors that of partisanship.
Let's do a quick riff on that and then get into our typical news and comment.
Let's Write welcomes NYTIMES best selling author of the Rizzoli and Isles series Tess Gerristen. Her new title: Die Again is the next in this series.
When Boston homicide detective Jane Rizzoli and medical examiner Maura Isles are summoned to a crime scene, they find a killing worthy of the most ferocious beast—right down to the claw marks on the corpse. But only the most sinister human hands could have left renowned big-game hunter and taxidermist Leon Gott gruesomely displayed like the once-proud animals whose heads adorn his walls. Did Gott unwittingly awaken a predator more dangerous than any he’s ever hunted?
Maura fears that this isn’t the killer’s first slaughter, and that it won’t be the last. After linking the crime to a series of unsolved homicides in wilderness areas across the country, she wonders if the answers might actually be found in a remote corner of Africa
Six years earlier, a group of tourists on safari fell prey to a killer in their midst. Marooned deep in the bush of Botswana, with no means of communication and nothing but a rifle-toting guide for protection, the terrified tourists desperately hoped for rescue before their worst instincts—or the wild animals prowling in the shadows—could tear them apart. But the deadliest predator was already among them, and within a week, he walked away with the blood of all but one of them on his hands.
Now this killer has chosen Boston as his new hunting ground, and Rizzoli and Isles must find a way to lure him out of the shadows and into a cage. Even if it means dangling the bait no hunter can resist: the one victim who got away. We will talk about how she created this novel, the storyline, keeping reader interest and what's next for her two main characters. Join me at four eastern for this exciting show and ask your questions in the chat room. I am your host Fran Lewis
This is one of the most memorable Christmas stories of all time since its A Wonderful Life and Miracle on 34th Street. This is most definitely a true comedy that will have you laughing and falling out of your chair. Based from the short stories and some semi – fictions and semi-fictional anecdotes and narratives of gifted storyteller Jean Parker Shepherd, based on some of his own life, Nine year old Ralph Parker wants a particular air rifle for Christmas despite his mother and Santa wishes. Is this present right for him? Of course most of us know the ending. Anyway, Tune in Saturday at 6pm to find out more about the favorite Christmas Holiday marathon movie.

THIS ORDER, THE BLACK ORDER, IS THE PENDULUM THAT SWINGS IN OUR FAVOR...
IN THE CONCEPT OF THE 'ORDER' OR, AS HE INSISTED, THE 'CLAN ORDER' [SIPPENORDEN] BASED ON RACIAL SELECTION HIMMLER BELIEVED HE HAD FOUND THE APPROPRIATE FORMULA TO CAPTURE THE NATURE OF THE SS. IN THE SS-LEITHEFTE [SS GUIDANCE BOOKLETS] OF 1943 THERE IS AN ATTEMPT TO REFINE THE NOTION OF THE SS AS AN ORDER. THERE WE READ: 'WITHIN THE CONTEXT OF A PARTICULAR WORLD VIEW AN ORDER IS THAT CLOSE-KNIT COMMUNITY WHOSE MEMBERS SURRENDER COMPLETE POWER OVER THEIR LIVES TO THAT WORLD-VIEW AND ALL COMMIT THEMSELVES WILLINGLY TO FOLLOWING ITS PRECEPTS.' THE SIMILARITY TO CHRISTIAN ORDERS IS NO COINCIDENCE, THE ARTICLE SAYS, AND IT IS IMPORTANT TO RECOGNIZE THAT, IN SPITE OF THE 'ALIEN AND WRONG-HEADED PHILOSOPHY OF LIFE' THAT CHRISTIAN ORDERS CULTIVATE, THEY BROUGHT TOGETHER 'PEOPLE' WHO WISHED TO DEDICATE THEIR LIVES TO AN IDEALISTIC AND ELEVATED GOAL'.
