Kenjji grew up in Detroit’s Rosedale Park neighborhood, went to Catholic school for eight years, and later attended University of Detroit Mercy and Western Michigan University, where he studied art.
Kenjji dropped his surname because of its connection to slavery and its consequent “unpretty history.”
He was first inspired to create comics after reading Brotherman, one of the first independent comic books featuring a Black superhero, which was published in the late ’80s and early ’90s.
“I decided it was time to reinstate books like Brotherman, which I found so influential and appealing, and the first thing I had to do was create a character that was just as cool as Brotherman,” he explains.
“I wanted to do a character with cornrows — that was the look. Around the time I was working this out, D’Angelo [noted for his cornrows] came out with his album Voodoo, which gave me the inspiration to start researching Voodoo as a background for this character.”
Hence the birth of his protagonist, who was named after a “super-suave friend” by the name of Jovan who lived on Carrington Street.
Kenjji is a strickler for detail, and wanted his book to paint an authentic picture of Voodoo. He extensively researched the history of the misunderstood practice, devouring books and studying under a Voodoo priestess who runs an informational Web site about the practice and history of Voodoo.

She is here today with her new book Living Hope: Steps to Leaving Suffering Behind an Amazon #1 best seller, talking about how she went from hopelessness to hope.

What impact does the media, entertainment business or celebrities have on the conscious people within the black community?
Does it affect us by dictating our talking points on social media? Or do you/can you just simply ignore it?
So many people (generally speaking) follow what they see and hear about in the media rather than consistently check out news from around the world on their own. By not taking the initiative to search the news for ourselves we allow the media to dictate what is talked about which then leads to black people becoming distracted with trivial foolish things such as this superbowl and beyonce shit. So tonight lets talk about how we can get those same individuals who follow the likes of beyonce to support and follow this conscious movement so we can really see a revolutionary change.
Show starts at 7 pm pst until 10 pm pst (10 pm est)

Catch me on livestream here NOW:
If you ever wanted to know the answer to the question of "Why bother doing shit for Black people?" look no further than this:
"M.J. is a sellout. Kids are dying over his sneakers and he refuses to address it or speak out on any socio-economic or political issues affecting "OUR" community." - Conscious Community Super Senior
"What the Beyonce super bowl extravaganza shows is how serious revolutionary efforts are co-opted and sold...made into a fade." - Conscious Community Super Senior
So, if you don't speak up you are a sell out.
If you speak up in even the slightest way you are co-opting the "movement" (what movement are they talking about exactly? The movement of bowels?).
Then they are baffled, confused, and wonder why people don't stand up.
Why should they when there are more rewards and accolades for sitting down?

the relationship between the VA and many of the university medical centers that are in bed with them, we will touch on the well over 300,000 veterans that were exposed to Agent Orange who dies when the VA refused to acknowledge the well known cancer precurosors that exposure spawned nor the ishemic heart conditions. we will take a stroll down memory lane and recall the report McDonald delivered to congress early last year in which he declared that more veterans die of suicide who are not involved in VA care than of those who are and the report by NBC news 6 weeks later that detailed how 80% of the veterans they surveyed who had attempted suicide had in fact been "treated" by the VA in the 30 days leading up to their lest attempt.
We will cover the THOUSANDS of TBI medical incident reports that the DoD removed from the records of the people who suffered even severe TBI throughout the 60s, 70s, and 80s who were kept in service AND the new technology that can time stamp those injuries today! Ialso know what happpened to those records too and where they might be located providing they were not destroyed follwing the VA's refusal to take custody of them in 2014.
And the fact that chronic homelessness is well known symptom of post concussion syndrome.
We Will speak of McDonalds desire to limit the evidence submission period. This is of course is the direct result of the information age allowing more evidence to be collected at a faster rate then ever before. So I guess he wants to limit the time frame of that to something under the DECADES it can take to get a LEGITIMATE claim approved right?
As some may know, Dr. Shakur is EXPECTED to be released soon. We would like to reflect on the life of this REVOLUTIONARY before he was imprisoned, so that you may get to know him or be reminded of the man he is and so that you may become familiar with his contribution to Afrikan Peoples' Liberation. We would like to do so on this episode by sharing with you a very important interview that was conducted by WHBK radio with Dr. Mutulu Shakur. This interview will be re-enacted by our co-host of GJU radio. This broadcast is very important if you want to know who Mutulu is and of course to understand history and have a true and accurate account from Mutulu on Mutulu and also the Party. Many people don't know but he is a master Acupuncturist. Come learn about how they set up program/clinics in the community using his proffession as a way to seve the people. Free Em All Radio! W/ Chairman Fred Hampton Jr & The Lady of Rage
In the spirit and position of nothing being all good and nothing being all bad. We are in a stage which can be defined and recognized as bad but beautiful. Terrible but fine. For as we approach the 50th year Anniversay of one of the most revolutionary organizations that North America has yet to witness...The Black Panther Party. We see the continuance of what Malcolm X assessed.. When they can't stop it, they will attempt to co-opt and hijack it. This is not a new contradiction. Though there are those whom are just witnessing and/or acknowledging its impact. These are necessary contradictions in order to witness and distinguish friend from foes, adversay and allies, liberals and criminals, false flaggers from Freedom Fighters!
