Maureen Phillips struggled with PTSD for 3.5 years, and then she found someone who helped her heal. She shares her story with Heal My PTSD founder, Michele Rosenthal.
My name is Lori Purdy Faitel and I am a Traumatic Brain Injury Survivor. And I am your host for THE SCIENCE OF HAPPINESS.I suffered a TBI many years ago, when I was 24 years old. As I speak to you tonight I am 52 years old and very happy to share my age. Like many of us survivors after the TBI I was clinically dead 3 times so…. it is proper to tell that I almost did not live to be 25, which makes being over 50 a blessing!
Back in the day, everything in my life was a dream come true. I was almost 25 years old, had a recent promotion in business that inspired me with dreams for my future, I was attending college at night, I had recently moved out of my parents home for the first time, I had many friends and I was on the fast track to a future with the man I had been in love with for about 5 years. THEN on a beautiful sunny spring morning as I drove on the freeway to my job a construction truck dropped bales of hay onto my windshield causing me to lose control of my car, spinning off the road and into cement construction material. From that point forward my dreams were taken away. I was diagnosed with a TBI, in a mild coma for 7 days and it took about 6 years of therapy and extensive study before I was able to function like an adult again. For tonight’s show we are going to address PTSD. I have a previously recorded interview with: Michele Rosenthal

Sometimes I meet someone who has such a terrific perspective, and such fantastic energy that I just have to share them with you right away. Lisa Steadman is one of those people. Late last week I did a mini-interview with her about just what, in fact, isyour woo-hoo, how do you access it, how you know you’ve accessed it AND: how do you rock your woo-hoo in a relationship after trauma.

Healing PTSD is more difficult than living with it. Find out why in this impromptu show with the founder of Heal My PTSD, Michele Rosenthal
There are many different kinds of posttraumatic stress disorder diagnoses. The most generally understood and acknowledged is PTSD, but Complex PTSD (C-PTSD) is also very prevalent. While C-PTSD shares certain similarities and symptoms with PTSD, the approach to treatment and other effects are somewhat different. On this episode, expert Megan Ross, Trauma Therapy Coordinator for Timberline Knolls Residential Treatment Center, outlines C-PTSD and what to think about in terms of healing.
