Peter Tosh, born Winston Hubert McIntosh (19 October 1944 – 11 September 1987), was a Jamaican reggae musician who was a major member of the musical band The Wailers (1963–1974), and who afterward had a successful solo career as well as being a promoter of Rastafari.
Peter Tosh cut a swathe through the Jamaican musical scene, both as a founding member of the Wailers and as a solo artist. He toured with the Rolling Stones and had an international hit with a duet with Mick Jagger. He was born Winston Hubert McIntosh on October 19, 1944 in Jamaica. Tosh's dance-friendly "Hoot Nanny Hoot," "The Jerk," a cover of Sir Lancelot's calypso hit "Shame and Scandal in the Family," the R&B-fired "Making Love," and "It's Only Love," a duet with Rita Marley, all arrived from Studio One. No pay, no game - Unprofessional behaviour of artistes chases away major record labels. The '70s,'80s and early '90s were the glory days of Jamaican music, with several of the island's artistes inking record deals with esteemed and internationally acclaimed recording labels, including Island Records, CBS Records, Colombia Records, EMI, Rolling Stones Records, among others. Fast-forward to 2015, one can't help but wonder, where have all the major labels gone?
Veteran entertainment manager Copeland Forbes believes major labels severed ties with Jamaican artistes because of unprofessionalism and a lack of vision. The effect of the anti-Jamaican music campaign led by the homosexual community was also brought under the microscope.
According to the man who has represented icons like Beres Hammond, Gregory Isaacs, The Wailers, Peter Tosh, Ziggy Marley, Sugar Minott, among others, during his career, Jamaican artistes need to be taught proper business ethics and attitude. He also credited Shaggy's success to his ability to make good business decisions.
"Some of these artistes, if you tell them to go overseas to do some promotions, if dem nah get paid, dem nah guh. Mi see me and Shaggy just reach New York from Japan on a 15-hour flight and he received a call saying his song just took off in England and they needed him to make an appearance. The same night, Shaggy took a flight to England and it was free because it's promotion. But some of these artistes won't do that. Dem a guh tell yu sey dem have to go home to eat, and do this and that. So the major labels are there to help us, but we must pull our weight too," he said

His neighbors in this western Jamaican town included such future legends as Peter Tosh, Lee 'Scratch' Perry and Ronnie Davis of the Itals. At the age of 17, like many aspiring artists, Keith headed to Kingston to find a vehicle for his talents. In 1968, he formed his own band, 'Rocking Horse,' and began playing at local clubs and festivals. After hit singles with Rocking Horse, Keith's wide vocal range earned him the nickname 'poppin'. 'In 1973 released his first solo single 'Same Thing For Breakfast.' THE POTLUCK XXIII
The Gospel "is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes" (Rom 1:16) Peter and the Apostles proclaimed it on Pentecost which led to the remission of sins of 3,000 people. The Gospel is more than words and facts. People are not saved by words and facts. We are saved by the Good News.
Come and share what God has impressed upon our hearts during the previous week's Bible study. Like a potluck, we will be bringing and sharing the "dishes" of God's Word that He prepared in our hearts. No one is greater of lesser at a potluck; just a loving sharing and discussion should ensue.
Join us as we immerse ourselves in the depth of understanding the Word of God. The phone lines will be open for your questions and/or comments live on air at
