Les will be filling in for Matt tonight, due to the passing of Matt's dad (Woody), late this afternoon. The hosts of Brain Injury Radio, are sending our thoughts and prayers to Matt at this difficult time. We know that Woody is resting with the Angels tonight.
Matt and Woody have been reciprocal caregivers for one another these past years, and shared the trials, tribulations and triumps of recovery ...But always with the most love and rest.
Tonight we honor Matt and Woody.
It took Catherine (Cat) Brubaker and Dan Zimmerman 5 months and 5,300 miles to cross the USA (diagonally) on recumbent trikes. Blowouts, tumbles, and close encounters with bears and wild turkeys still left plenty of time to meet folks at the heart of our country. It also left time to get lost in one's own mind.
Cat and Dan rode to raise awareness for TBI and for Stroke, but I wonder what awareness they discovered within themsleves along their journey. And, I mean to find out. :)
Every TBI survivor and caregiver has encountered a fork in the road that has diverted his or her life-plan. A car accident, a fall from the roof, doing one more chin-up, or a door literally slamming one in the face are just some causes of traumatic brain injury. College plans, walking down the aisle in the perfect dress, or the coveted job quickly slip from reality as dreams turn to struggle. These unexpected life-happenings that divert one from his or her chosen path in life can be devastating. But as Yogi Berra once said, "If you come to a fork in the road, take it." Life is all about choices!

THE E.T. CONUNDRUM
Mason Adams and Dave Turco of Sages and Seers discuss the extraterrestrial conundrum. So much information, so much disinformation, how can one tell what's true? The short answer is there is no way of telling. The possibilities and the stories and the cover ups are far too numerous to know which are true and which are false. However we do have insight into some of the major ET/UFO narratives that have in the main been disinformation to lead the public astray and quite frankly in the dark regarding one of the most important subjects in human history.
What are ETs where are they from, have they contacted us, are they here, do they have communications with us, are they interdimensional, are they demons....all of these questions will be addressed and answered as both Mason and Dave have had personal incounters with ET!
Mason is a poet and mystic and a life long experiencer of the supernatural. It is through his spiritual practices that he channels his inspired poetry that expresses itself with hints of Rumi and Richard Bach.
Dave is also a life long experiencer of the supernatural, trained in both Eastern and Christian ascetic spiritual practices and has used all of his experiences to begin to piece together a better understanding of the nature of reality. Most of his multidimensional experiences come through dreaming.
There is so much more to our world than any of us know, but something big is happening now to humanity and what we know and experience needs to be expressed.
Welcome to another episode of Brain Injury Round Table. I am your host, Constance Miller, brain injury survivor of more than 30 years and Managing Director of Brain Injury Resource Center, located on the Internet at http://www.headinjury.com. At the suggestion of Mr. Tai Campbell, of Taken Back Our Communities Now, http://www.tbocn.org, tonight’s show will look into the development of heightened feeling states following brain injury. Some such heightened feelings take the form of disturbances in the autonomic nervous system. The resulting condition is known as “hyper-arousal” and describes the effect of injury on things such as heart rate and respiration. Another aspect of heightened feeling states is sometimes seen as psychic or extra sensory abilities and in many instances is seen as a gift. Others in this category might feel undone by the sudden onset of such strange reveries and might find themselves pre-occupied by feelings of uncertainty and anxiety.
It is seldom addressed by members of the profession called upon to make us whole, to take us from the point of being "patients" to being people again. Therefore, tonight we’re going to take matters into our own hands. We’ll kick it around, swap stories and delve into another of those taboo topics associated with brain injury.
Join us for another exciting and informative episode of Disability Roundtable. thanks to all our listeners for bringing our voices, to your home, your mobile device wherever you are all around the world. Additionally, I’d like to give a big thank you to this show’s sponsors: Martha Marcum, mother of a brain injury survivor and author of MARTHA'S FABLES and Gordon Johnson, attorney of TBI Law.com. Additionally, we look forward to bringing another sponsor Mia Marcum McCoy, brain injury survivor and author of a brain injury book that she will speak with us about on a future episode.
Michelle Braxton will tell us her beautiful story of how she has lived with HIV for 24 years. She is a motivational speaker and has very special personal relationship with God. She is also an author.
THE NEW NFL PERSONAL CONDUCT POLICY
The NFL has developed a new Personal Conduct Policy that applies to all NFL personnel — owners,
coaches, players, other team employees, game officials and league office employees. The policy
was developed after discussions with more than 150 experts from across the country — including
domestic violence and sexual assault experts, advocates and survivors, law enforcement officials,
academic experts, business leaders, current and former players and the NFL Players Association.
HOW DOES IT WORK? The policy establishes clear standards of behavior for all NFL personnel. Clubs are
obligated to promptly report any potential violation of the policy that comes to their attention and must fully cooperate
with any related law enforcement and NFL investigations. When a potential violation occurs, the NFL will make
available evaluation and counseling services for the player or employee, as well as resources to assist victims and
The NFL will follow a fair and predictable process for investigating the incident and ultimately taking
disciplinary action if a violation has occurred.
