We will be talking to Penny Robinson, who is an Assistant Lecturer at Monash University in Australia, doing a mixture of research and teaching. Penny also volunteers for the ‘I CAN Network,’ and is also one of the Young Adults group leaders for Aspergers Victoria, Australia. Penny was diagnosed with Aspergers syndrome at the age of 14.5 in, in Year 9, in 1997. This July, it’ll be 18 years since Penny’s diagnoses. On the show, Penny will be telling us all about the work she does in the autism community. You can find out more about Penny on her website http://sphpm.blogspot.com.au/2015/01/researcher-profile-penny-robinson.html
Excitingly, we are also looking forward to talking to one of Positively Autistic’s own radio show hosts, Jeanette Purkis. Jeanette is also on the spectrum herself and has a professional connection with Penny. We will be talking to Jeanette all about the topic of moving home, and the stress this can implicate to those on the spectrum.

This is Jeanette Purkis's radio show where she and invited guests talk about all things Autism. Jeanette is an Autistic author, advocate and public speaker and is passionate about empowering people on the Autism spectrum to live fulfilled and positive lives. Jeanette is a keen advocate for inclusion and appropriate support for people with Autism spectrum conditions in such areas as employment, education, parenting and access to health services.
This week, Jeanette will be speaking with academic and one of the three founding members of the I CAN Network, Penny Robinson, about the work of the Network, particularly with Autistic young people. The I CAN Network offers a rethink on autism: making autism mean “I Can”, not “I Can’t”, and focusing on the strengths on the spectrum rather than deficits. The Network is currently doing great things. Further information on the I CAN Network can be found on their website: http://icannetwork.com.au
Penny is an Assistant Lecturer in the Women’s Health Research Program at the School of Public Health and Preventative Medicine at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia. She has won awards for her research and is passionate about medical research, epidemiology and women's health.
What is BITS? We start with the varied definitions of bit. A bit can be a small portion, degree, or amount such as a bit of lint; a bit of luck. On the other hand a bit can be a brief amount of time, a moment as in Wait a bit. Or how about a short scene or episode in a theatrical performance? Or a bit part? Keeping with our theatrical theme, a bit can be an entertainment routine given regularly by a performer; an act. Let’s take our definition of bit further. A bit can be the sharp part of a tool, such as the cutting edge of a knife or ax or a particular kind of action, situation, or behavior as in I got tired of the macho bit. How about a matter being considered as in What's this bit about inflation? The Brits consider a bit a small coin: a three penny bit. BITS for our purposes are an amalgamation of all and is about our bit to contribute and share by bringing you a bit of knowledge as information and entertainment, and as a matter to be considered. So have a listen to our brief, daily dose of BITS where a little knowledge goes a long way brought to you by the artist of communication Halli Casser-Jayne, host of The Halli Casser-Jayne Show, For more information visit Halli Casser-Jayne dot com.
Physiology plays an important role in our productivity. It is one of the 10 Core Drivers that supports our Championship Psychology. Many people take better care of our cars than they do their bodies. Our bodies have to last us our lifetime and provide us the mobility and based on how we take care of it will effect the brain-power we need to accomplish what we desire in life. It is as simple as that but at the same time it isn’t easy. Our lives are fast paced and often the easy way isn’t the best way to take care of our bodies. It requires our time and attention like anything we need to care for. Let's look at ways to support your body and mind to getting and staying lean, the best physical presence for our overall productivity.
