Paul George suffered a guesome injury a few days ago in the USA Basketball scrimmage. What does this mean for the Pacers in 2014-15? What about the direction of the Pacers going forward? Should they make a rebuilding move before or during this season? Can they even make the playoffs this season? In regards to USA Basketball, will this change things going forward? Will guys elect to not play in international play, or will their teams restrict players from being a part of USA Basketball?
Paul George was used to playing in an NBA arena. Unfortunately, the Thomas & Mack Center is not an NBA arena, and it did not have an NBA-type basket stanchion at both ends of the court.
Bobby Gonzalez, the former Division I NCAA coach at Seton Hall and Manhattan, was at Friday night's Team USA scrimmage in Las Vegas when George suffered his gruesome broken leg injury. In this interview with Howard David on ESPNRadio in New York, Gonzalez describes what he saw, what it might mean to the future of international basketball, and whether the U.S. federation might ever go back to fielding teams of college basketball players.

It is Sunday and it is once again time for another edition of “Pushing the Envelope”, the podcast that never sits idly by on any issues. Today’s show will be split in two parts, with the first one speaking about the NBA with Cal Lee (@gamefacelee) of The Baseline. With him we will be speaking about the injury to Paul George, the venues Kevin Love has at his disposal, the mess that are the LA Lakers right now, who he thinks are the top franchises in the East and the West and maybe something else.
After the interview with Lee I will shift gear and speak about college football, focusing on the Atlantic Coast Conference and how if you look to one poll it seems one program will do quite well, but if you were to look somewhere else that same team does not look quite as good. Finally I will dive into my small rant about Ray Rice and his suspension and the debacle the NFL is making more and more of this.
And of course, if anything else comes up I will surely touch upon it, since this is “Pushing the Envelope”, where we leave no rock unturned and do not sit on the face on any discussion.

Team USA was dealt a major blow last week as SG/SF Paul George sustained a gruesome leg injury during the team's intra-squad showcase at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. George underwent successful emergency surgery to repair his broken leg and is expected to miss the entire 2014-15 NBA season.
In the aftermath of George's devastating injury, Oklahoma City Thunder star SF Kevin Durant announced his intent to withdraw from Team USA due to "personal reasons".
Speculation continues to circulate regarding the future of 2014 first overall pick Andrew Wiggins. The Cleveland Cavaliers have reportedly agreed in principle to a trade that will see Kevin Love join forces with LeBron James in exchange for Wiggins, Anthony Bennett, and a highly protected 2015 first round pick. The Cavs and TWolves are required to wait until August 23rd prior to processing the trade.
We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Becky Hammon on becoming the first-ever full-time female coach in NBA history! Hammon, a 16-year veteran of the WNBA, has been hired as an assistant coach by the defending NBA champion San Antonio Spurs.
