Authors Mike Faricy & Sean Sweeney LIVE on Authors on the Air with Pam Stack

    in Books

Authors on the Air host Pam Stack presents a LIVE interview with two very popular authors.  In the first half hour we will chat with Mike Faricy, author of the Dev Haskell series.  A bit about Mike: The Dirty Lowdown called Mike Faricy America's hottest new mystery writer. Robert Carraher and the Irish Gazette referred to him as Minnesota's Master of the Bizarre. He has been nominated for a Minnesota book award. All his books are stand alone, they can be read in whatever order you wish. They're filled with the sort of oddballs we're all curious about, but wisely prefer to keep at a distance.  Visit Mike's Amazon page at http://amzn.to/1uJhpzn . In the second half of the show we will speak with Sean Sweeney.  And now, a little about Sean: Sean Sweeney's love of reading began in 1988, when he was handed J.R.R. Tolkien's classic The Hobbit, and was given a needed boost with John Grisham novels and the Star Wars Expanded Universe. His passion for writing began in 1993, as a sophomore in high school, when he began writing sports for his local newspaper.  Visit Sean's Amazon page at http://amzn.to/1zawB5o.

Debut novelist Karen Dodd joins Authors on the Air host Pam Stack

    in Books

Authors on the Air host Pam Stack welcomes debut novelist KAREN DODD. Here is a little about Karen, in her own words:  My first novel, "DEADLY SWITCH: A Stone Suspense," was published in December 2013. A suspense thriller, DEADLY SWITCH takes you on a wild ride through three countries. Murder...intrigue...a romance built on a house of cards:this thriller will satisfy your thirst for the adrenaline rush that the intricately plotted story delivers. A delicious stay-up-all-nighter,DEADLY SWITCH stuns with its heart-pounding conclusion.  I love teaching new and emerging authors how to develop their platform, while writing their books. I call it, "building the plane while flying it." It can be a little hairy, but fun!  I am a proud past president of the North Shore Writers' Association and I continue to attend and support that organization.  For more about Karen please visit her on the web at http://karendodd.com

Screenwriter-journlist-author-producer John Schulian LIVE on Authors on the Air

    in Books

Authors on the Air host Pam Stack welcome the multi-talented John Schulian to the show.  After making his mark in sportswriting and Hollywood, John Schulian has shifted gears and written his first novel, the noirish "A Better Goodbye." It's the tale of lost souls in rarely-seen precincts of Los Angeles, a melting pot stirred by a tragedy-haunted boxer, a college girl moonlighting as a sensual masseuse, a failed actor turned pimp, and a prison-hardened sociopath. "Goodbye" marks the latest turn in the career of the L.A.-born and Salt Lake City-reared Schulian, was regularly in included in E.P. Dutton's annual "Best Sports Stories" anthology, and published a highly-regarded collection of his boxing writing, "Writers' Fighters and Other Sweet Scientists.". He landed at the Philadelphia Daily News long enough to win the 1985 Nat Fleischer Award for Excellence in Boxing Journalism, and then took off for Hollywood at the invitation of Steven Bochco, creator of "Hill Street Blues." Schulian broke into TV with an "L.A. Law" script and was on the writing staffs of "Miami Vice," "The 'Slap' Maxwell Story," and "Wiseguy." He struck gold as a co-creator of "Xena: Warrior Princess,". Schulian later wrote and produced  "JAG," "Outer Limits," and "Tremors". "Twilight of the Long-ball Gods," followed by "Sometimes They Even Shook Your Hand." He has also had short stories published in the Prague Revue and on Thuglit and The Classical. Schulian is the editor of "The John Lardner Reader" and co-editor, with George Kimball, of two anthologies, "At the Fights: American Writers on Boxing" and "The Fighter Still Remains".

Author-Actor-Host Danny Gardner on creativity LIVE on Authors on the Air

    in Books

Danny Gardner impressed audiences with his performance on the 3rd season of HBO’s Def Comedy Jam (All-Stars Vol. 12). He has enjoyed a career as an actor, director and screenwriter. He is a recent Pushcart Prize nominee for his creative non-fiction piece Forever. In an Instant., published by Literary Orphans Journal . His work has appeared in Beat to a Pulp, Out of the Gutter and Noir on the Air. His debut novel, A NEGRO AND AN OFAY. He lives in Los Angeles and originally hails from Chicago. Danny is also the one of the rotating hosts on NOIR ON THE RADIO in the Authors on the Air Global Radio Network. From Danny: " When I was first learning how things work in published fiction, I made note of behavior. I’m a multi-talent with a delivery that can easily fill the room; however, the readings I attended seemed like sober affairs and no place for a ham. An author is introduced and then reads from his or her own work, which is normally followed by a polite Q&A session. Books are signed and attendees disperse. To this old performer, it’s rather straightforward and appropriate, as it’s a lot to ask someone to take a chance on a book."
