OLP: light and message for music. Plastic Rhino returns for a full conversation

    in Music

The Overpass Light Brigade, also known as the People’s Bandwidth, is a loose and inclusive affiliation of people dedicated to the power of peaceful protest and artful activism.  They use  music, art and light that brings a visual element to concerts and other events with that spell out illuminated messages that dance across stages.  OLB was forged in the activist climate of the Wisconsin Uprising to create messages that  shine at night over highways and other public spaces and into concert halls and outdoor music.  OLB enhances music events and at times adds rap and beats on stage.

Plastic Rhino is a Los Angeles Rock Band with strong 90’s rock influences that has just released a new album, Recondition, after their popular singles “Confessions of A Nobody” and “Let’s Begin” made them a darling of LA hard rock audiences. Their signature riff-heavy sound and howling vocals evoke memories of Metallica’s atmospheric rock.  They are incresingly packing clubs and venue in the Southland and it is time to talk to them about where they plan to take it next.

    Interview with Duane Steele

    in Music

Born & raised in the small Alberta Peace Country town of Hines Creek, music found DUANE STEELE early on. He fondly remembers parties at his parents' home with everyone sitting around singing and playing various instruments. As teenagers, Duane and his cousins started a band spending summers and weekends playing for weddings and community dances.

In 1984, Duane's professional career began, fronting the band Rock 'N' Horse. Their album Highways was released in 1991. Despite top 20 singles, non stop touring, and a Juno nomination for Country Band of the Year Rock 'N' Horse disbanded in 1993. Duane took this opportunity to pursue his goals as a recording artist and songwriter, landing a publishing contract with Warner Chapel in Nashville.

In 1995, a showcase at Canadian Country Music Week in Calgary resulted in his signing a recording contract with Mercury Canada. Duane's solo debut album "PO Box 423" was released in February 1996 and saw his first three singles go Top 5 on the Canadian Country Charts, including the #1 Hit "Anita Got Married". His sophomore release "This Is The Life" was released a year and a half later and all six singles released achieved Top 30 chart position (two becoming Top 10 hits). In support of both albums, Duane released seven music videos on CMT (three of which went to #1).

He spent time on the road traveling with his CCMA award-winning band opening for some of the hottest acts in country music including Shania Twain. In 1997, Duane was the winner of the CCMA for Vocal Collaboration of the Year with Lisa Brokop for the single "Two Names On An Overpass".

Duane has just released a new album called Dirt & Dreams. Tune in to hear him talk about his music career & the new songs.

Free for All Friday: 31 Days of Mountaintop Miracles & Headlines

    in Christianity

On this special edition of Free for All Friday, Randall and Stacy are going to share an interview that took place at The National Religious Broadcasters Convention.   The interview is with author Susie Jenkins, who wrote the book 31 Days of Mountaintop Miracles: One Woman's Legacy of Unconditional Obedience.

Miracles by definition are extraordinary events manifesting a supernatural work of God—an unusual event or accomplishment, a wonder, a marvel. A never-ending supply of miracles have made up Susie Jennings life since November 1993, when she and a group of volunteers distributed 100 new blankets to the homeless living under the Canton Street bridge overpass in downtown Dallas. In 31 Days of Mountaintop Miracles, Susie shares the legacy of a blanket distribution project that through God’s grace and guidance has grown from an unthinkable tragedy into Operation Care International (OCI), a worldwide outreach ministry, dedicated to caring for the homeless in Dallas, Texas and impoverished children around the world. With a spirit of unconditional obedience, Susie and her OCI Team have reached over 130,000 homeless men, women and children in the Dallas Metroplex area and conducted major outreach efforts to change the lives of thousands of impoverished children in nine countries, including; the Philippines, India, Africa, Taiwan/China, Indonesia, Cambodia, Jordan, and Israel. OCI has been faithful in carrying the message of love and hope to those in need through the power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. With over 3,000 volunteers and serving 8,500 + homeless, OCI hosts the nation’s largest Christmas party for those in need, held every December since 2004 at the Dallas Convention Center.

    Christmas Eve in Kent Texas

    in History

My buddy Bob Mc Glew suggested a story line that was visit a ghost town and to do a short story about what you find there. So has we were traveling to Austin Texas on December 24  we stopped in Kent Texas just to see what was there and do a share some reflections . There is not much there but I did learn some valuable lessons. (1) the batteries in my digital camera fell out and promptly disappeared, (2) we were not sure what we would find but do the research first This show is dedicated to Robert Mc Glew my S3 productions foreign reporter for giving me the idea

COMMENTS: Kent. A ranch town born to supply the needs of the long x Cattle Company. The most famous of the west Texas ranches. Owned by the Reynolds brothers, prominent west Texas ranchers. Their holding consisted of several thousand acres extending from north of us highway 10 to several miles south into the Davis mountains. REMAINS: Lots of ruins but a lot still standing. http://www.ghosttowns.com/states/tx/kent.html

The town, once called Antelope, was founded in the early 1890s.

A post office was granted in 1893 and by 1914 the population was a thriving 25 persons. The population doubled in the mid-1920s and remained at that level for 40 years. The post office was reported closed in 1960 but has since reopened.

Kent had a population of sixty-five in the late 1960s - falling to 60 by the mid-1970s where it remains today.

Today little is left to interest a tourist - but the juncture of the two roads provides a sense of place. The lone telephone at least looks comforting but its condition is unknown. The overpass of I-10 offers some relief from the scorching sun but it will be sometime before Kent becomes a destination.

    KUNDALINI SPIRIT?S Rebellious Hearts

For among my people are found wicked men: they lay wait, as he that setteth snares; they set a trap, they catch men. As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit: therefore they are become great, and waxen rich. They are waxen fat, they shine: yea, they overpass the deeds of the wicked: they judge not the cause, the cause of the fatherless, yet they prosper; and the right of the needy do they not judge.

The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?

The Lord has showed me that few and very few had spiritual eyes and ears opened to hear and listen to what the Lord is saying. “But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear, (Matt. 13:16).
