SPONSORED BY MARK PITTMAN--Justin Beiber makes the news again for a second racist video he made with racist content. Yes, the video was made when he was 14, it's only surfacing today, but many other questions come up with the mere existence of those videos, especially because of the artist's ae when they were made. The focus is not on the actions of Justin Beiber, but on what are we as a community will do about it? Starting with the two famed celebrities who mentor and produce him. Join me tonight at 10:30 PM EST with your thoughts.
SPONSORED BY MARK PITTMAN--No, this isn't a show on rebelling, uprising or causing an uproar against authority. This is a show on how to exercise your rights within the parameters of the laws of order. Somewhere down the line, we have traded the reigns of power and lost our voices--the ones that speak not only for ourselves but for them. What steps can we take to take to restore the balance of power and true order? Join in tonight at 10:30 PM EST @ 347-327-9967.
The most important part of resolving a problem is addressing the most imminent threat in the problem. Domestic violence is a problem with many sub-factors of damage, but the first problem is usually to put out the abuser's fire and get the victims to safety before we can begin the road to healing. Abusers ALWAYS have a story behind their role...they came from an abusive childhood where they either observed or were victims of abuse themselves, they were bullied without support, etc. For African-AMericans, not only are the usual suspects of factors play a part, but many more unique additions to the pool come into play. Join me tonight at 10:30 pm EST to address the problems behind the abusers, and discuss solutions. Call in at 347-327-9967 to join the discussion.
SPONSORED BY PROFESSOR CARL TONE JONES--Join me tonight as we host an amazing group of brave fourth graders from the PS 37Q Cynthia Jenkins School in Queens, NY, as they speak out against bullying. Featuring five student essayists and their teacher, Ms. Jewel Mitchell, just one of the many educators in this amazing school that remain active in their students character and successful development for real life.
SPONSORED BY MARK PITTMAN--Continuing our discussion from Part One. Tonight's discussion focuses on the tactics of distraction used in the 2006 statements made by rapper Kanye West against former President George Bush while serving as one of the hosts of the Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund Telethon. We further evaluate follow-up statements made by his then co-host, actor Mike Myers, who praised Kanye for his "bravery" 8 years later. Miconceptions and misinterpretations of Kanye's follow-up interview on The Today Show with Matt Lauer have been made via reactions and posts on YouTube and social media, which once again, loans support to a master plan. Join in tonight with your thoughts at 10:30 pm EST.
SPONSORED BY MARK PITTMAN--Single parent homes happen for a variety of reasons, yet the most common is abandonement by one parent, or the couple splits up because neither of them really knew the other in the first place, but somethow they became co-parents. The single-parent home is what is used as the blame for every social catastrophe that ever happened, happens, or will happen..by every deadbeat parent, politician, media personality, law enforcement official and plain outright idiot around. Although single parent homes may be a mitigating circumstance in some situations, the deeper problem is how can we prevent our children and our community from adding more people to the unfavoring statistics of our people as single parents?
Tonight we are going to discuss creating the dating blueprint. The plan behind the relationship sturctures we seem to get into based on visual assessment and instant physical gratification, not love, completion or longterm commitments. If we take more time to check into the person we are dating, doing a background check that goes far beyond the simple criminal, financial, or drug history...but into the person's LIFE history, could we make better choices and prevent enetring into sexual relationships that produce babies we wouldn't have had if we could go back and do it again?. Tune in tonight at 10:30 pm to share your thoughts.
SPONSORED BY CARL TONE JONES--Domestic violence is one of the largest problems plaguing our society. The injuries inflicted go far beyond black eyes or broken bones--the breaking of spirits, families, trust and love far outweigh the damage of physical scars. Many medical and psychological jounrals have been published revealing the underlying causes of domestic violence, breaking down both the abusers and the victims reasons for the roles they play in domestic violence, yet the question remains--why does it continue? Aside from the obvious reasons that have been used to explain why victims stay with abusers and why abusers contiue the cycle, the lack of community involvement and the loss of the "village" in the Black community plays a huge role in why domestic abuse continues to spread. Join me tonight at 10:30 pm with your thoughts. Call in at 347-327-9967.
SPONSORED BY CARL TONE JONES Continuing our series on the destructive attraction to "bad girls/bad boys". Men are our leaders. They head the family, the community, etc. The caliber of greatness that they achieve starts with how great they played their role in their beginnings...the mostimportant beginning they have after leaving their childhood home is their relationship. Men--especially African-AMerican have it hard, becasue most of the burdens of life falls on their shoulders, and their teachings are usually saturated with macho-saturated ideas of "manhood", so their attitude toward relationships divert their perceptions of "excitement" or long term commitment in a direction that leads to self destruction. Tonight the men are on the hot seat and we're discussing the effects of men's attraction to "bad girls" and the effects on our relationships as a people.
Violence is a plague in our society and it comes in many forms--gang violence, domesic violence, and gun violence just to name a few. More and more children are being injured or killed at a higher rate than medical illnesses, and the African-American community has the highest occurences. WIth all of the anti-violence advocacy groups and anti-violence movements and laws in place, why are the fatalities rising to this issue? Join me tonight at 9:00 pm EST as Kaydee interviews Chris Curry, producer/artist and creator of the amazing "Stop The Violence Movement" video series. Chris discusses the plight of violence in our neighborhoods, and the sad reality of struggling to get more involvement from the people this affects the most. Tune in at 347-327-9967.
SPONSORED BY MARK PITTMAN--What makes $1.1 billion-dollars' spending power and $47K average salaries still equal Ground Zero in Black economics? Perhaps the various and unique mindsets of the African-American community plays the largest role in the barrier that blocks our economic success. Can addressing the negative effects of the mindset bring a positive return and open gateways to establishing that much needed foundation for restoration? Join in tonight with your thoughts.
