Beyond The Cover is back from a one week break with a very exciting guest, Simon Gervais. We will also dive into the world of books and have reviews, tips, etc. so don't miss out:
SIMON GERVAIS was born in Montréal, Québec. He joined the Canadian military as an infantry officer and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in 1997. Assigned to the Infantry School in Gagetown, New Brunswick, he received extensive training in advanced reconnaissance and small-unit tactics.
In 2001, he became a federal agent. His first posting was in Toronto, where he served as a drug investigator. During this time, he worked on many international drug-related cases in close collaboration with his American colleagues from the DEA. However, in 2004, his career switched gears and he was placed with a federal anti-terrorism unit based in the Ottawa Region. During the following years, he was deployed in numerous European and Middle Eastern countries.
In 2009, he became a close-protection specialist tasked with guarding foreign heads of state visiting Canada. Among many others, he served on the protection details of Queen Elizabeth II, US President Barack Obama and Chinese President, Hu Jianto.
In 2012, Simon was transferred to his organization’s counter-surveillance unit. During the next two years, he participated in a number of intelligence gathering operations. In May 2014, he returned to his former unit to serve as a bodyguard for the American ambassador to Canada until his retirement in September 2014.
Simon is now a full-time writer and a member of the International Thriller Writers. He has volunteered as the Security Director of ThrillerFest since 2013. His debut novel THE THIN BLACK LINE will be published by Lou Aronica at The Story Plant on April 7th, 2015. He is represented by literary agent Eric Myers of The Spieler Agency.

Autism and autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are both general terms for a group of complex disorders of brain development. These disorders are characterized, in varying degrees, by difficulties in social interaction, verbal and nonverbal communication and repetitive behaviors.
About 1 in 68 children in the U.S. is diagnosed with autism, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in a report from 2014. This represents a 30% increase from the 1 in 88 reports of children reported to have autism in 2012. White children are more likely than Black or Hispanic children to receive an autism diagnosis. And Black children and girls are more likely to have intellectual disability along with their autism. The most notable shift is the growing proportion of those who have average or above-average intelligence, rising from 30 percent in 2002 to nearly 50 percent in 2010.
Monday evening, the 50th episode of The GreenHouse FX Radio Show, we will increase our knowledge of autism... Supporting those who are deal with this diagnoses everyday... Celebrating their struggles and triumphs. There has been an increase in early diagnosis, this is a reflection of successful public awareness efforts... this Monday, join us to continue those efforts.
Our Guest will be Garnet Schulhauser
On the radio show Garnet will talk about:
1) His new book Dancing Forever with Spirit
2) What has happen since the writing of his first book?
3) What are the major new lessons he has learned from his guide?
4) Did he find out why his guide was gone for so long with no communication?
Garnet Schulhauser is a retired lawyer who lives near Victoria, on Vancouver Island, with his wife, Cathy, and little dog, Abby. He grew up on a small farm in Saskatchewan and moved to Calgary, Canada, after law school where he practiced corporate law for over thirty years with two blue-chiplaw firms. After retiring from his law firm in 2008, he began his new career as an author and his first book, Dancing on a Stamp, was published in 2012. Since the release of his first book, Garnet has been active with book signing tours and speaking engagements and has been a frequent guest on radio talk shows. When he is not writing or connecting with his followers, Garnet enjoys golfing, nature walks in the forest with Abby, and family gatherings with his sons, Blake and Colin, and their partners, Lauren and Bergis, and granddaughter Kymera.
In Dancing on a Stamp, Garnet recounts how his life changed dramatically one day in 2007 (while still practicing law) when he was confronted on the street by a homeless man named Albert (who was actually a wise spirit in disguise—an emissary from the spirit world).

Join me today as we talk to Paulla Miller and Jan James in the 2nd part of our 4 part series on breast cancer. Jan James is a breast cancer survivor and founder of the Provision Project, a non-profit organization with the mission to provide financial relief to women in active treatment for breast cancer.
Soon after Jan was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012, she founded a private online breast cancer support group which now numbers almost 600 women in nine countries. Through that support group, Jan and her leadership team have become intimately aware of the ways in which breast cancer can impact a woman's life, physically, mentally, emotionally, socially, and financially. The Provision Project wants to help women who face tough financial decisions as they are actively being treated for breast cancer. I know you will be inspired, educated, and moved as you hear about these courageous women, and the overcoming spirit they continue to express, and live out!

Michaelbrent Collings is an internationally bestselling novelist, a #1 bestseller in the U.S., and has been one of Amazon's top selling horror writers for years. He is one of the most successful indie horror writers in the United States, as well as a produced screenwriter and member of the WGA, HWA, and several other writing groups with cool-sounding letters. He's also a martial artist, and cooks awesome waffles ('cause he's macho like that).
He published his first "paying" work - a short story for a local paper - at the age of 15. He won numerous awards and scholarships for creative writing while at college, and subsequently became the person who had more screenplays advance to quarterfinals and semifinals in the prestigious Nicholl Fellowship screenwriting competition in a single year than anyone else in the history of the competition.
His first produced script, Barricade, was made into a movie starring Eric McCormack of TV's Will & Grace and Perception, and was released in 2012. Michaelbrent also wrote the screenplay for Darkroom (2013), starring Kaylee DeFer (Gossip Girl, Red State) and Elisabeth Rohm (American Hustle, Law & Order, Heroes).
As a novelist, Michaelbrent has written enough bestsellers that listing them seems weird, especially since they're already listed elsewhere on the website. In addition, he has also written dozens of non-fiction articles which have appeared in periodicals on several continents.
Michaelbrent is also a member of the WGA (Writers Guild of America) and the HWA (Horror Writers of America). In addition to selling, optioning, and doing rewrites on screenplays for major Hollywood production companies, he is currently developing several movies and television shows.
