How does God rescue and use a prostitute, lesbian, braggadocious Portland, Oregon-bred secular rapper for His purposes? Ask redeemed, restored and well-respected Gospel rap artist, Octavia Harris. Street life and a 10-year homosexual lifestyle had stolen Octavia's identity. In 2005, she surrendered all to Jesus Christ whereupon He revealed her true identity in Him. He then turned her pain into passion. With several successful albums released, Octavia is producing catchy beats wrapped in God's truth, infused with clever lyrics and her life experiences to help others overcome this world's dark influences. You'll hear her powerful testimony and tracks from her latest album Be Myself (free download). We'll also be joined by Christian rap artist and returning guest, Crucial. We'll discuss his track "Homosexuals" which exposes the deceptions of this societal (and church)-embraced lifestyle—and how God wants the Body of Christ and the Church to address.
Joy! Wednesday, May 28, 2014 marks the one-year anniversary of the Voices Against the Grain media ministry. For one year together, we've been punchin' the enemy as we are "Advancing God's Kingdom in a 'do your own thing' society" and empowering others in Christ Jesus. Satan hates an empowered Saint! On Wednesday's episode, VATG devotional writers Ana Martinez, Herbert Bowen, Jr., and Jason Alexandre along with VATG creator and show host, Nicole D. Hayes will discuss: how to operate in a world that says "yes" when God says "no" or "wait," bending toward God's will in a world that says "make your OWN plans," how God restores what's been broken or stolen, and God's design for relationships in a world that counterfeits the gift of marriage and sex. Join us for this fruitful and reflective conversation! (Episode pre-recorded)
24 to Heaven is a feature documentary currently in production written and directed by Brian Culkin that examines post industrial America, the social and spiritual theatre of boxing, and the Attardo family of Boston, MA.
"The interior life is essential to the boxer. Sociologist Loic Waquant referred to the 'erasure of any distinction between the physical and spiritual' through its practice. Manifesting through the intensity of corporeal and mental training, the solitude of roadwork, and surrendering to the biological processes of instinct and flow, the pugilist merges his mind-body complex into an instrument of kinetic force. Known for their ascetic rituals, the champion boxer must 'let go of the world' through diet, a moderated training regimen, and above all, mental and physical clarity. However, the lifestyle of the boxer, infused with spiritual like rituals that required a certain level of social and cultural stability, became nearly impossible to maintain in the chaotic social infrastructure of South Boston throughout the 1970's and 1980's; the same period of the Attardo brothers rise. "

Sunday, August 17th, my guest is author Tiana Nicole. Tiana will be chatting with me about her book, Deceitful Temptations. This book is an Amazon best seller and the storyline is very compelling !
About the book:
Lord, please forgive me, I prayed silently and placed one of the heavy towels over the baby's face to stop it from breathing. It didn't take too much of an effort, because in a matter of seconds , the baby was lifeless again. I sat numb as I cried aloud, in total shock because I didn't have any signs of pregnancy, and still having periods. I didn't understand how I did not know a life was growing inside of me. I should have told my story to that TV show ‘I didn't know I was pregnant’.
I gathered myself and began to clean the blood from the hardwood floor, placed the baby in the bag, and sat there shocked, guilty, and confused until the sunlight of a new day crept through my living room window. I finally got the courage to get up and clean myself up. I decided to catch the ferry over to the Jersey City boardwalk. I discreetly placed a few bricks from the boardwalk deck into the garbage bag, then grabbed a bite to eat. I re-boarded the ferry back to the city, I made sure no one was watching, then dumped the garbage bag over the side of the ferry into the water , and watched as one of my many secrets sunk deep down to bottom .
