Sure, Sanders and Trump, but a Big So What?

    in Politics Progressive

E3ven the most blathering pundits equivocate on the first two primary season results. They're eager to draw sweeping and even specific concusions and projections. At the same time they note that neither Iowa nor New Hampshire has a good record of picking the party nominees nor the Prez winner.

That said, it won't stop them...nor me...

We had the two expected winners yesterday. The margins are worth remarking on and on the GOP side, yhr jumble under Trump settled nothing. The fantasies that the first two contests would clear much of the Republican field were jsut that. On the Dem side, Sanders had a very impressive (over 20%) margin, not bad for someone who was down 40% not long ago there.

I kinow a bit about South Carolina politics, certainly lmuch more than I do about thoe in Nevada. It's my turn to analyze and forecast.

    Bernie Wins By a Landslide

    in Politics

"Nine months ago we began our campaign here in New Hampshire. We had no campaign organization, we had no money, and we were taking on the most powerful political organization in the United States of America. Tonight, with what appears to be a record breaking voter turnout, because of a huge voter turnout — and I say huge, we won. Because we harnessed the energy, and the excitement that the Democratic party will need to succeed in November.now it’s on to Nevada, South Carolina, and beyond. The people of New Hampshire have sent a profound message to the political establishment, to the economic establishment, and by the way, to the media establishment. What the people here have said is given the enormous crises facing our country, it is just too late for the same old, same old establishment politics, and establishment economics. The people want real change. What the American people are saying — and, by the way, I hear this not just from progressives, but from conservatives and from moderates, is that we can no longer continue to have a campaign finances system in which Wall Street and the billionaire class are able to buy elections".Bernie Sanders

Feb. 9, 2016, 10pm (PST) - The Ghosts of Virginia City with Debbie Bender

    in Paranormal

Virginia City was a boomtown with the 1859 discovery of the Comstock Lode, the first major silver deposit discovery in the United States, and numerous mines were opened. At the city's peak of population in the mid-1870s, it had an estimated 25,000 residents. The mines' output declined after 1878, and the city declined.

However, many in the now historic town say, some of the residents have never left. And as this ghost town has become more of a tourist attraction, one of the attractions the town now offers is ghost tours. Paranormal investigators from all over the world come to the Nevada playground to find who's still hanging out in the saloon or sleeping in the old hotel.

Debbie Bender is part of the team that runs the Virginia City Ghost Tours. The stories and experiences she has from this old mining community are eerie, intriguing and mystifying all at once. You can find them at www.virginiacityghosttours.com. Debi will explain the history of the town from then, until now. We'll talk about who's still wandering around. And how ghost hunting has brought new 'life' to an aged community.

The Night Time Fiasco Welcomes Back Helion Prime!

    in Rock Music

Helion Prime was first conceived from a common love of metal and all things science. The band was founded when Jason Ashcraft (of Dire Peril) asked Heather Michele (of Graveshadow) to form a project with him. Between the two, they had worked with such artists as Mark Briody (Jag Panzer), Brittney Slayes (Unleash the Archers), Andy LaRocque (King Diamond), Ralph Scheepers (Primal Fear), Arjen Anthony Lucassen (Ayreon/Star One), and Niklas Isfeldt (Dream Evil). The concept; power metal with themes based on actual scientific theories with the occasional sci-fi tribute. The name Helion Prime was borrowed from an alien planet featured in the film "Chronicles of Riddick," a movie the two were great fans of. She accepted the exciting proposition without hesitation. The two recorded their first demo track in June of 2014, and with the help of members from Dire Peril and Axiom, Helion Prime debuted their first live performance in August 2014 at the Boardwalk in Orangevale, CA. The dynamic duo then released their first EP on February 26th, 2015 with a full length album in the works. Helion Prime’s lineup was completed after bringing Jeremy Steinhouse on bass and Justin Herzer (of Axiom) on drums. In August of 2015, Helion Prime set out on their first tour, playing shows in Oregon, Nevada, California, and Utah. Their debut album will be out at the end of February, and the band (who payed us a visit early last year) will be back on the show to premiere some new songs for all of you to hear, so be sure to tune in!!!
