While you're battling snowdrifts in the Northeast, why not check out the latest episode of Afronerd Radio's Grindhouse podcast, airing this Saturday at 6pm EST! During this installment we welcome not one but two special guests. For the first segment, the crew welcomes Bounce webcomic creator, Chuck Collins to the show. Mr. Collins will not only discuss his exciting and popular series but also the state of independent comic books, diversity in geek culture and tangentially the rise of Blerdom.
And if that wasn't enough edutainment, actress and Renegade Nerd CEO, Claire Lanay joins us to discuss her company, growing female nerdom as well as diversity concerns present in pop culture. And perhaps throughout the respective interviews, we will address the latest "going ons" in geek business: the growing controversy centering around actor, Joseph Fiennes' upcoming portrayal of Michael Jackson in a UK comedy special; Marvel CEO, Ike Perlmutter donates 1M to Donald Trump's Veterans fundraiser; reviled hedge fund manager/pharma CEO, Martin Shkreli vs Ghostface Killah (huh?), Agent Carter's Pre-Loving vs VA romance with Dr. Jason Wilkes; the Justice League returns to Cartoon Network; Joseph Illidge's Mission piece on two Captain Americas (and two Hulks and two Spidermen and so forth). Call in live at 646-915-9620.

Please join us for a conversation about Creativity, Community, and Cultural relevance. We will be engaged with two dynamic guests. The first half of our program, we will interview the talented vocalist Ozara Ode. Ozara has started a Gofundme campaign to take her Nina Simone adaptation to Broadway. After reaching much success in Atlanta with the production “In the Key of Nina” during the summer of 2015, Ozara is on a mission to further honor Ms. Simone’s legacy. We will be talking more with Ozara to find out what she is doing and how we can support her.
The dialogue for the second hour will be driven by Pittsburg raptivist, Jasiri X who has been steadily climbing the rungs of the underground ladder worldwide. Jasiri made major noise with his debut single “Free the Jena6”. Tonight he will enlighten us about Black Liberation Theology and share what else he has in store.
We will contemplate the fate of a center that was designed with the spirit of Comrade Tupac Amaru Shakur in mind. Built to be a hub of Creative Community collaboration and cultural education, it has long been shut down and now the building is for sale. We look into ideas about what happened, why, and what we can do differently to insure that similar efforts flourish. Welcome to the Blaq Hour.
Greetings, folks! Let's make this a real attempt at brevity! Welcome to a new episode of Afronerd Radio's Mid Week in Review podcast, airing this Wednesday at 7:30pm EST. Check out the latest musings of your favorite podcast superhero team as they decipher the most current event laden and topical "codes": our impressions of rap artist, Macklemore's new single entitled, "White Privilege" as well as his commentary on race relations in the U.S.; Dburt connects the dots between an interesting anecdote that was revealed during famed comedian/director, Keenen Ivory Wayans' geneological search on Finding Your Roots and the media's most recent Oscars debate; on the blerd front, filmmaker, Kevin Smith intimated that DC may be channeling more from Marvel than one would think relating to the possible comingling of their TV and film IPs.
Democratic presidential hopeful, Bernie Sanders seemingly dodges the slavery reparations question; Harvard reserachers embark on a "moonshot challenge" thanks to 28 Million in funding to attempt to map an A.I. brain like the neural connectors of a human cerebrum; with news from Sundance regarding Don Cheadle's Miles Davis biopic and actor Nate Parker's Birth of a Nation film, does the cure for the Oscar dilemma lie with Black folks producing films beyond hackneyed rom-coms?; why exactly did B.o.B. rapper debate the astrophyscist, Dr. Neil Degrasse Tyson over the "world being flat?" Hopefully, comedienne, Sherri Shephard was listening in as well. And again, speaking of Sundance, we weigh in on a new Blerd centric film entitled, Sleight. Call the hosts live at 646-915-9620.
Direct Primary Care is growing and groaning. What drives it? What goes into the development of the DPC culture? Is there a culture of DPC? "A culture is a way of life of a group of people--the behaviors, beliefs, values, and symbols that they accept, generally without thinking about them, and that are passed along by communication and imitation from one generation to the next." one internet definition.
Models of DPC include "Pure", Mixed and Hybrid. I'll define Mixed during the show.
Who is doing it and how does it come together?
The DPC Summits help to anchor the movement. July 8-10 in Kansas City is the next national one.
Our Ohio UnSummit seeks to help with the development of the Ohio DPC culture. I'll discuss the UnSummit (Feb 20th in Dublin, OH) and shamelessly promote it during the show.
Political satirist Culture of Truth bases The Bobblespeak Translations on Meet the Press and/or This Week with George Stephanopoulos. Using show transcripts, he creates the 'most ridiculous moment' for Virtually Speaking Sundays. This segment, Evil, was created and aired on Feb 7, 2016. Text here.

We are going to examine why Black movements and culture are compromised and undermined historically. Why are we in this state of confusion? There is no plan, agenda, organizing, program or vision laid out for us.We are like sheep easily led by anyone with a loud voice who seem half way intelligent. We want to discuss the trivializing and devaluing of Black movements.I say this because even Black people do not take themselves seriously. The White man owns America.Donald Trump is America.America is a White land.America will never let us have power.Because they do not trust us.White people are not stupid.
Just who are #blacklivesmatter? Why are some factions pushing the Queer Agenda?Do they think Black people are stupid? These people have invaded the legitimate anger over Trevon Martin and co oped their movement with Black Nationalist without our consent.Let me give you a background ten years ago I was attacked by the LBGT movement just for not agreeing with their political stance on issues.Back then they openly attacked nationalist Paternalistic,Masculine, oppressive of women and antiquated.I ask you this, what is the sudden change? They have not changed. They are latching on to the nationalist energy to get a free ride.I along with Straightblackpride are on to them.If you can sell your agenda fine,BUT DO NOT THINK I HAVE TO SUPPORT IT BECAUSE WE ARE BOTH GRIEVING OVER TREVON MARTIN......A FIRE AND BRIMESTONE SERMON FROM THE KALAGENESIS TONIGHT
