    Schurr , Skills, and Saxophone

    in Current Events

I recently had the honor of attending the California SkillsUSA State Championship in San Diego.

And on Bus trip home  my Friend and cohort Mr. Garth Kline were having a discussion with Nathan one of his Students about going to college, Nathan’s passion for music, and the future. Thus the idea was born for this show. To give a forum for Elias, Donavon, Arron and Nathan to talk about SkillsUSA, their plans after High School, and their Future. Nathan wanted a chance to get his Music out there to showcase his talents. We prerecorded the show for this release. I will admit there are parts I tried to edit to increase the audio levels, But has we told everyone we rare this has a start point to get better, learn more, promote the  Schurr High School SkillsUSA team, and Mr. Kline’s program. (Actually Mr. Kline just wanted to host the show.) Hope you enjoy because our goal was to have fun doing it , and besides every once in a while you just have to try something new

ON a side note I must again offer aplogiys for getting Arron's name wrong all the time.

    Thank You

This week, on the American Passenger Rail Heritage Foundation's "The Let's Talk Trains Show," Kansas City Nathan travels two-hours east to the Missouri State Fairgrounds, in Sedalia, Missouri, for the Trails End event (www.thetrailsend.org). The event celebrates the men who drove cattle from Texas to the closest railhead towards Chicago. The fairgrounds are built right along the former M-K-T route, which is now the KATY Trail State Park. One of the major events going on at the fairgrounds is the Trails End Model Train Show & Collectible Show, which is being ran by members of the APRHF.

    A Kind Voice on Movies

    in Movies

Melancholy is an honest attempt to illustrate the true experience of an individual dealing with a major depressive disorder. It does away with the stereotypes that often plague portrayals of depressed characters in TV and film.

The film focuses on one night in the life of Sara, a typical twenty-something going through a severe depressive episode while trying reach out for any kind of catalyst to pull herself free, searching for help through friends, faith, and medication. Through Sara's eyes we see the despair, hopelessness, and fear that can cripple the life of an individual fighting a major depressive disorder. Sara's boyfriend, Graham, provides the perspective of the outsider. He struggles to find some way to help the woman he loves but can't find a way to break Sara out of her cycle of lethargy and depression. The relationship between Sara and Graham demonstrates a common example of the misunderstanding and disconnect between any couple in which one person is suffering from depression. Melancholy explores this disconnect and provides an emotional insight into the struggles of both Sara and Graham.

Our guest this episode will be Writer/Director Nathan Edwards to talk about this project.

Check out the Kickstarter campaign for this film here.
