Narcissistic Abuse - You're Damned If You Do, Damned If You Don't

    in Relationships

One of the most frustrating things about being narcissistically abused is that you can’t win … It doesn’t matter how hard you try to do the right thing, the narcissist still finds fault with you.

However, sometimes they turn on their charm and you can do no wrong… Which is almost always due to the narcissist trying to get something from you.

In this radio show I am going to talk about the dynamics of a relationship with a narcissist, why they idolize you and then demean you, and how you can identify these behaviours before it’s too late.

Please know, if you haven't already, you may sign up to my free New Life Community, where you will receive 2 free eBooks, and an email series called "16 Days To Your New life", and much, much more.

Thriving After Narcissistic Abuse Story #24 Phil

    in Relationships

Today I have a really special interview.

Especially if you are a male in this community, I know you will find this interview relatable and insightful.

This show is about Phil, who is now one of our senior members in the NARP community. He is a friend of mine, and is also a part of the moderator team in the NARP community.

In this show Phil talks about what it’s like being a man who suffered in silence – being ashamed to talk about it with your friends because you know they wouldn’t understand and only judge you.

He also talks about what’s like dealing with the male ego – that voice inside you that says you shouldn’t let a woman take control of you and affect you like that.

I had a wonderful time doing this show and I know you will get a lot out of it.

Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN) - 1105

    in Self Help

Tonight's special guest is Emily Samuelson, Ph.D., from Baltimore, Maryland, of the Soaring Project.  A psychologist who specializes in treating trauma, she's also a survivor of incest in her childhood and has written a book about her experience, "Soaring Above the Ashes: Thriving After Childhood Sexual Abuse." She tells me, "Somewhere in my childhood, I boxed up the memories and lost my connection to the truth of what happened to me. It wasn't until I was 39 years old that my memories broke through. This was after a betrayal when my daughter was 5 weeks old, and separation and eventual divorce 6 months later; a breast cancer scare; a job where I was a scapegoat; and news that my mother had two different kinds of cancer. That's what it took to break me open." She goes on, "I got PTSD and lived in a nightmare of flashbacks for many months. I worked on healing for the next 20 years." Her book, "Soaring Above the Ashes," has stories of survivors based on face-to-face interviews from all over the country. Each story is accompanied by a black and white portrait. "The story of my healing journey is woven between the chapters, Emily explains. "Although I am now thriving, I continue to work on becoming more whole, my deepest wish."

Open Forum: Katonte Healthcare Program - Masaiti District

    in News

The name “Katonte”, which in Bemba means “being warm together”, is the name of a village in eastern Masaiti District in Copperbelt Province. The Village is close to the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), roughly between the towns of Ndola and Kapiri Mposhi, but it is some 35 Km from the nearest rural clinic. Women and child morbidity and mortality are thought to suffer especially as a result. The Department of Health has constructed a new clinic there, but it is currently inoperable owing to the lack of staff housing. KHP’s initial target is to construct a house, and to contribute to equipping the clinic, so that staff can be posted and it can “open for business”.

Simon and Theresa Foot will join us.

    CPS Inconsistencies

    in Politics

Issue: CPS under regulates and over regulates parents.  Who's to Blame?

On one hand you have the Duggar family, who allowed abuse amongst their daughters, and in the public eye, has only fought to protect their son. CPS hasn't paid them a visit. On the other hand you have CPS investigate you if you let your kid ride home from the park, or smoke pot; see Free Range Parenting.  What gives?  J

oin me tomorrow as I discuss the inconsistencies with CPS on Who's to Blame?

  • Episode 11 Journey-In-Rhythm: GAUCHOS On One "Seasoning Around The Hoop" Guest S

    in Basketball

    http://www.newyorkgauchos.com/

    Greetings;

The New York Gauchos is America's most successful after school youth basketball and education program. The Gauchos program was established in 1967 as an adjunct youth service to the Westside Y. The Gauchos have offered inner city boys and girls an opportunity to participate in elite travel team basketball for the past 47 years, with the primary purpose of keeping them out of harms way and focused on staying in school.

Since 1967, the program has grown and now serves more than 500 young boys and girls ages 5 to 18 from its world famous Gauchos Gymnasium location with services that include; after school tutoring, college mentoring, prep school placement, SAT/ACT test preparation and a world class AAU basketball program.

The vision of combining academic mentoring with competitive basketball is the brainchild of Louis d' Almeida, an advertising executive who had come to America as a young man from Argentina seeking his own education in the United States. He later found his dream education at the Lawrenceville School and later Yale University. The Gauchos has more than 30 former players who have earned professional basketball distinction with the NBA, WNBA and EuroLeague.

So the first season was a time for preparation. This could be chaotic time, but out of chaos always comes order, so definitely a time for planning and preparation. Plans need to be put in place for the future. Seeds needed to be planted. Plans need to be set in place.

The second season was a time for incubation, nurturing, and growth. Oversee, look after and tend to what has been laid.

By the third season they could see the emergence, development a growth of their seeds or plans. Time now to reap the rewards, to harvest, to benefit from all the previous 'work'.

    !!!Peace!!!!

CUTV News Radio spotlights Jill Orhn Recovery Coaching

    in Lifestyle

Stillwater, MN – The decision to give up the lifestyle of addiction and enter recovery can be tremendously fearful and isolating, like moving away from home and never speaking to anyone again. Everyone has their own path to recovery, but with the help of a recovery coach, you can develop strategies to successfully navigate the transition to sobriety

A recovery coach is a certified non-clinical professional that supports you as you begin a new life without substance abuse. Jill Orhn is a recovery coach and the founder of Jill Orhn Recovery Coaching, where she helps women who are considering treatment or have recently left treatment to build a new vision for their lives. Jill supports women in transition who feel lost or hopeless or believe they don’t have anyone to support them.

“A recovery coach helps to keep you on the path to stay sober by teaching day-to-day skills and establishing new routines,” says Jill. “We take away the shame and the stigma of being alcoholic or an addict and the idea that this is who you are for life.

Jill helps her clients to recognize what areas in their life they need to find balance and how to recognize the negative thinking and triggers that can compromise sobriety.

“I’m there to help them take that next step, whatever that step may be, and that applies to recovery or any kind of transition,” says Jill.

Jill understands where her clients have been but also serves as a living example that life can get better and will. She and her clients work together to develop an action plan to start your recovery and help keep you in recovery.

“Let’s take away the stigma and help people get sober in a way that works for them,” says Jill.
