Talking Motorcycles with Author/Motorcyclist Clement Salvadori

    in Sports

World motorcycle traveler Clement Salvadori returns with another great road book. This time, he brings enthusiasts 30 stories covering 50 years of travel by motorcycle to odd spots around the planet. Readers can follow him through war-torn Vietnam to the sybaritic pleasures of camping out in a South African wilderness area, from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe, from 1957 to 2010.

While the motorcycle is always at the heart of these stories, far more important are Salvadori's impressions of the countries he rides through and the people he meets along the way. He artfully injects history, sociology, politics, and economics into the mix, and comes up with fresh and vivid descriptions of the many places he has been. On these journeys, he was frequently told, "The road doesn't go that way, you can't get there from here." But, for Salvadori, bad roads, bridgeless rivers, and seemingly insurmountable mountains were always part of the fun—if one may call it that. A big part of the adventure was to find a way, even when there was supposedly none.

Clement Salvadori bought his first motorcycle as a teenager and has been riding ever since—in more than 70 countries on six continents. A well-known name in motorcycle journalism, he has written over 1,000 articles for several dozen motorcycle magazines, and is the author of a number of popular travel books on the sport, including the bestselling 101 Road Tales, a collection of amusing and engaging stories from his popular monthly column in Rider magazine. He lives in southern California with his wife, Sue.

    in Sports

Daytona Beach, FL (April 28, 2015) - Troy Bayliss won three World Superbike Championships on a Ducati. In 152 starts, the Australian had 94 podium finishes and 52 race victories. In 2006, as a substitute rider in place of the injured Sete Gibernau, he brought Ducati a MotoGP win at Valencia.

Retirement means different things to different people. This year, over 8,000 people were treated to world class flat track racing featuring Grand National riders from the USA.

The 46-year-old Bayliss will be competing in five AMA Pro Flat Track Mile races in 2015 on the Lloyd Brothers Ducati and we look forward to hearing his thoughts in this special edition of Talking Motorcycles with Barry Boone.

Talking Motorcycling with Why We Ride Films Bryan Carroll and James Walker!

    in Sports

In their first appearance anywhere in media, Bryan Carroll and James Walker join us to announce their newest motorcycling film project and you can join in! Why We Ride Flims produced the critically acclaimed "Why We Ride". Now their lates project is launching and it centers around the legendary 75th Sturgis Rally!

The impetus for the new movie stems partly from this year's Sturgis Motorcycle Rally being the 75th Anniversary of that motorcycling institution. In recent years, the Sturgis rally has drawn half a million participants, but attendance estimates for this year's anniversary rally exceed one million riders. There may never be a better time to capture the passion, dedication and camaraderie of the motorcycling community, and there certainly is no better place than the iconic Sturgis gathering.

When making Why We Ride, Sturgis was the first filming location, and it had an immediate emotional effect on the filmmakers. "There is a spirit there that enters you and grabs your heart," says Bryan H. Carroll, producer/director. "The beauty of the Black Hills is God given. You put your hand on a boulder and you feel this energy; you can feel it in the air. It's easy to understand why American Indians hold this place sacred."

"Sturgis is not just a place--it's who we are," continues Carroll. "When you say, 'I am an American,' it's not about your address or even where you were born. It's in your DNA, your spirit. It's why people from all over the world have been coming to this country for the past 250 years. It was always in them--they just needed a place to gather and be around like-minded people. This is the same story as Sturgis. There are many of us out there who are still venturing, still seeking out that next journey."

Thanks for joining us for this special "Talking Motorcycles" powered by SOZO!
