DEPRESSION: MORE THAN JUST A MOOD DISORDER with PAUL MORRIS
On this show I, your host will discuss why both the medical and psychotherapeutic communities do not completely understand what Depression actually is. The mood disorder that Depression creates is a symptom of this grim, relentless affliction, but it not the cause, which I will discuss in detail on the show. I will also examine the clear and absolute connection between depression and suicide.
Patrick J. McGrath, M.D. Professor of Clinical Psychiatry
Sarah Fader, Founder & CEO, Stigma Fighters
Despite years of progress, the stigma of having a mood disorder like depression, or an anxiety disorder like panic disorder is still considerable. People experience disbelief from family, co-workers, and friends that this is a medical problem rather than a matter of needing to exert willpower and fortitude. Sarah Fader and her organization, Stigma Fighters are working hard to address this issue for people with these disorders and will discuss her advocacy work in this regard. Even when a mood or anxiety disorder has been diagnosed and is being treated, unfortunately selection of the correct treatment is still a matter of trial and error, with the attendant delay and frustration. Dr. Patrick McGrath is engaged in a pioneering study, funded by the National Institute of Mental Health, called EMBARC, which seeks to make the first steps toward a future where testing will help predict which treatment will be most effective. Ms. Fader and Dr. McGrath will discuss these efforts to assist those having these disorders."

in The Bible
We must train ourselves to think like Christ, if we are to be like Christ. Jesus Christ came to this earth and left Heaven and all its glory. On earth, Jesus made Himself nothing. While He was on earth, He was a Servant. Here on earth, He humbled himself to the degree that He without reserve died a criminal's death. And He did all this for us.When we see the need to serve others, we will look into the concerns of others, there needs to be the utmost subtlety. Everyone at one time or another has wanted something kept secret. When we visit the sick, as we show a tender kindness for them, we shouldn't be too precise in being inquisitive into their medical disorders or their emotions. Circumstances may be such they prefer not to speak about. We should allow them to tell their own stories.
My name is Beau Chatham and I am a Master Coach with The Burris Institute.I am also the CEO & Tribal Leader of Warrior Life Coach, an Atlanta, GA-based executive coaching practice, where I work with business professionals, athletes, and combat veterans.A little bit about my background – I was a commissioned Infantry officer in the United States Army. I am Airborne Ranger qualified, saw ground combat in Grenada during Operation Urgent Fury, and served in numerous other command and training positions.I left military service after 10 years and found myself in the world of biotech and pharmaceutical commercialization, where I marketed injection and oral drug therapies. I also served as a corporate trainer, where I conducted and coordinated medical education programs for sales representative, focusing in the areas of anatomy, physiology, and disease state management. My areas of teaching were in cardiovascular and neurological disorders. It was here, that I was first introduced to the concept of Evidence-Based therapies and how important they are in gaining measurable outcomes. This is what ultimately led me to finding The Burris Institute methods of coaching. remember following the country’s combat actions of post 9-11, not from the newspaper or the talking heads on the TV, but rather through medical journals. Of particular note, I recall the longitudinal studies of Dr Charles Hoge published October of 2004, in the New England Journal of Medicine that addressed the growing mental health burden being produced from extended combat operations. As a warrior and medical educator, I knew that I wanted to help our returning combat veterans, so I started looking in to life skills coaching. The problem was that so many of the life coaching schools insisted that coaching was for “healthy” people and that the emotional states of fear, guilt, and anger were best suited for psychiatry.
