LatinoTalk Texas 2015, 0005 A New Day in Texas & America?

    in Politics

Is it really a "New Day" in Texas and America? I review the SOTU address and comment negatively on Obama's motivations to increase taxes on the wealthiest Americans which is just more class warfare and bad economic policy and give France as an example. I am; however, that Obama offers hawkish rhetoric with regard to terrorism and ISIL. Until now I have critical of Obama's response to ISIL and terrorism. I am, on the other hand, critical of Obama on Immigration Reform and criticize him for not promoting CIR. I maintain he is no hero on that subject. Lastly, I criticize Obama for taking a victory lap on the economy when the statistics when fully examined show a very weak recovery and still a precarious situation. Lastly, I continue to blame Obama and the Democrats for the moral decay that has beset our nation. Before I go on to Texas news I comment on the Tea party response by Clawson of Florida who tauted among other issues the Tea party's desire to limit all forms of immigration which confirms what I have said about them for years now: The Tea Party is nativist and isolationist. Then on to issues in Texas and I read an article about the new Texas Governor, Greg Abbott, who is struggling to post conciliatory rhetoric to Latinos and minorities in Texas while he hides from his support for the anti-Latino Arizona SB 1070. Simultaneously, the commentary in the article was about Joe Straus, Speaker and Abbott trying to contain radical Lt. Governor, Dan Patrick. Patrick who will reinvent himself depending upon who is listening and, in my opinion, has ZERO honor, will cater to the radical anti-immigration forces from the Tea Party. Finally, I read quickly an article detailing the US Chamber of Commerce 13 steps to a robust economy which they agree is still very weak and could easily collapse. Among those options they declare Immigration Reform is Key. LatinoTalk Texas is news, issues and interviews important to Latinos in America.

LatinoTalk Texas 2015, 0004 Immigration still the Fulcrum in Politics

    in Politics

Happy Martin Luther King day!  LatinoTalk Texas is news issues and interviews impoortant to American Latinos.  Today, Martin Luther King Day, I read a piece I published a few years ago in SomosRepublicans.com entitled, Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr - Martyr. Today's episode is titled "Immigration Still the Fulcrum in Politics" and I prove that up with several articles detailing how immigration issues still balance the politics in Texas, among Republicans nationally, and in American Latino Politics. Republicans in Texas seek to investigate and immigration status of students in Texas and I state this will result in ethnic discrimination against Latinos in Texas and not all students. This is wrong and immoral and will result negatively against Republicans. Additionally, Republicans are accused nationally of avoiding immigration topics in the upcoming 2016 debates by not allowing Univision to cover their debates. There is more news about Univision as they are in a whopping 96% of Latino homes in America and now, its majority owner, Haim Saban, has formed a relationship with Hillary Clinton and says it is a dream of his for her to become president. Powerful news and I conclude that the Republicans are fooling themselves to think they can win any more national elections without earning the Latino vote. I conclude that even Jeb Bush who strongly favors Latinos and CIR cannot win as a Republican considering that the rest of the Republican party then and still even harder today strives to drive away Latino voters with their anti-Latino legislation in Texas and nationally.

LatinoTalk Texas 2015, 0001 First Show of 2015!

    in Politics

I remark, first, on the fact that the Christmas season actually came to end yesterday with the Epiphany of the Lord and discussed how it is celebrated among Latinos. I go on to read Pope Francis's comments on this important celebration of Christmas. I read an article about Bishop Tobin in Rhode Island rejected an invitation to participate in the inauguration of that state's pro-abortion governor. Abortion, the Bishop said, is a "grave moral evil" and I fully agree as do most Latinos in America. I then read another article regarding the struggle against the culture of death in the form of homosexual "marriage" which is the sanctioning of a moral outrage and is an effort to undermine the very fabric of the American culture. I read an article from Florida where that state has been forced by a court to begin conducting such unions. Finally, I read that most of the new congress is Christian and many are also Catholic. In the next segment I read an important article from the Texas Tribune which chronicles the activities of the Tea party agitators and how the seek to overtake the Republican leadership in Austin and Washington DC. I also comment how the GOP seeks to placate these radicals who bring with them the white supremacist goals of the Tanton Network and don't care if they alienate the Latino vote. the article talks about Louie Gohmert's effort to unseat John Boehner and other efforts to undermine John Cornyn proving my points. Then, in the last segment I discuss more action from Jeb Bush in that he has formed a new PAC that will promote a run for the Presidency. I discuss the dynamics of that and point out that Bush is the only candidate who actually has Latino issues and Latinos in mind when he runs. The very things that make me like him also make the Tea party types hate him and call him the destruction of the Republican Party.

LatinoTalk Texas 2014, 0044 Texas: Epicenter of the coming Immigration Debate

    in Politics

LatinoTalk Texas is America's only daily independent political analysis from the Latino perspective.  On today's show, I discuss political analysis on the actions of the nation's leading VENDIDO, Rafael "Ted" Cruz, and how his bullying tactics and most ardent anti-immigration efforts are the polar opposite of Jeb Bush who both favors immigration reform and public school reform. I read articles about both and add my analysis about them and note that Cruz, along with Mike Lee of Utah and Rand Paul of Kentucky, were all elected with a harsh enforcement only anti-immigration perspective and I submit that agenda is actually anti-Latino in its motivation is also very divisive and polarizing. On the other hand, Jeb Bush, former Florida Governor and originally from Texas is the polar opposite but also Republican. He is for immigration reform and public school reform, both topics important and favored by Latinos. Bush has won larger percentages of Latino voters in the past buth can he, as a Republican, win back all those Latinos and more driven away from the party by bullies like Rafael Ted Cruz, the Vendido? I also notice that the Democrats who also do not favor immigration reform but rather remain quiet on the topic and allow the the deeply divided GOP to self destruct. Their strategy will be to wait and see and rely upon the fact that they have had the Latino vote for decades and assume the GOP will mess up like Romney in the past and drive away more and more Latino voters in the next major election. I propose that while Arizona was ground zero for the immigration debate in the years past that Texas and what it does under Abbott and Patrick will become the new epicenter of the immigration debate in America especially since Cruz and Bush and Paul are all from Texas. Except that Cruz, the Vendido, is actually from Canada!

LatinoTalk Texas 2014, 0043 Catholic traditions & 287g Immigration Enforcement

    in Politics

LatinoTalk Texas is news, issues and interviews important to Latinos in America.  On today's show, December 12th, I discuss the Feast Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe which is very important to Latinos in America, especially Mexicanos and ethnic Mexicans like myself. I read an article about riders in Illinois who rode to the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Des Plaines and delivered a rose while passing on horseback. I went on to read more news from the Catholic News Service concerning the Synod of the Family and Conscious Rights of Catholics under assault in liberal America both by the Obama administration and the liberal City of Washington DC which enacted similar ordinances as Plano, and Houston, Texas which challenge religious freedom and expression. Later in the show, a caller, Juan Martinez, a former police officer in the Dallas Ft. Worth area called to ask about 287g, a federal program that enables local law enforcement to question person incarcerated to determine if they should be evaluated by immigration enforcement. Martinez wanted to know if that program is still in effect. I reported that as I know it is but in reference to SB 1070 which was largely found to be unconstitutional but also still authorized in vague terms state and local law enforcement to be "assist" immigration and customs authorities. Previously, this was not true as the Supremacy Clause prevented state and local LEO from investigating such matters without 287g authorization. However, since the SB1070 case, states have new authorization and in places like Arizona, they uses it indiscriminately and over zealously. I am very worried about the laws Dan Patrick will pass here in Texas and use it to violate the rights of Latinos here in Texas simply because we may look "foreign." Clearly a violation of the 4th Amendment.

LatinoTalk Texas 2014, 0042 Texas & Latino Values

    in Politics

LatinoTalk Texas is America's only daily independent political analysis from the Latino perspective.  On today's show I discussed a number of timely issues important Latinos and Latinos in Texas. First, I read an article from Latina.com that pointed out Latino celebrities that are not afraid to comment on political issues especially those important to other Latinos like Immigration Reform which this show favors greatly. Next, I discuss the insulting prospect that a conservative "news" outlet joked the murderess of Selena Quintanilla Perez would be released from prison. This is not true but remains personally insulting. I read an article from "Latinos Ready to Vote" outlining the religiosity of Mexicanos and Mexican Americans in America. No surprise the vast majority, like this show, are Catholic. Later, I mention that Texas Values is working on a number of morality issues in Texas and among them is the effort to defend Christmas and other religious expression which this show also supports. Another issue in the sights of Texas Values is the City of Plano, Texas that has passed a controversial "equal rights" ordinance. Opponents say it violates the First Amendment Freedom of Religion. I enter into a reminding discussion of my perception of the two major political forces in America. They are the Culture of Life and the Culture of Anti-Life or the Culture of Death. Because this show and the vast majority of Latinos are Catholic, we are among the Culture of Life and work to expose the Culture of Death and its means of undermining the Culture of Life. Lastly, I read two articles about Immigration Reform. One article from CNN and by an economist reports on the financial benefits of Immigration Reform which confirms what we have said for years. Lastly, another article articulates the political pitfalls the Republicans have now they have failed to act on Immigration Reform.

LatinoTalk Texas 2014, 0039 Thanksgiving, Christmas & Catholic news

    in Politics

On today's show, I discuss first the importance and significance of both the Thanksgiving holiday and the beginning of the Christmas season which began yesterday with Advent. I also point out the importance of praying for those less fortunate who suffer in poverty and oppression. I urge you to give to poor during the Christmas season as well. On the line of religion which is so important to Latinos, I read two important news articles related to that. Bishop Chaput of Philadelphia gives an interview regarding Pope Francis' visit there coming next year and comments on the nature of biased news reporting concerning the Pontiff's commentary. In another article concerning Pope Francis, the Pontiff met with Patriarch Bartholomew I in Istanbul, Turkey over the weekend and the Pontiff received the blessing of the Patriarch in the form of a kiss upon his head. This is a continuing of the efforts of reapproachment by Saint Pope John Paul, The Great, who sought to engage in diplomatic and religious amity with the Orthodox and Protestant Churches. Pope Benedict XVI also continued the effort and made great strides in connecting with members of the Episcopal Churches. Pope Francis continues this effort and this event marks another great stride forward as it is recognized that the two churches are co-equal and parallel in their direction. I then read an article about a Rasmussen poll that reportedly shows that 62% of "LIKELY' voters opposed Obama's executive action regarding immigration. Though I read the article I also criticize it as being biased and the poll as also being biased and aimed at propaganda possibly. I also read an article concerning the slight slowing of "Black Friday" sales this year. Lastly, I read briefly the news about the upcoming test launch of the new NASA space exploration capsule, Orion. I am very excited about this new spacecraft.

LatinoTalk Texas 2014, 0034 Ben Carson announces for President and more

    in Politics

On today's show I read more news concerning the past election, the results, news that Dr. Ben Carson will run for President, some news concerning the Culture of Life and finally news that Obama will finally take the Islamic State Army seriously. Regarding Dr. Ben Carson announces that he is running for President.  He is an accomplished man saving lives, and being a very devoted Christian.  I compare Carson with Jeb Bush and report that I like and respect them both but that unlike Bush, Carson does not annoy the Tea parties which actually worries me.  In the news that Republicans made inroads with Latinos this election cycle.  I have my doubts.   I talked about this on my show, Latino Talk Texas, today. I believe that rather than assuming these numbers in percentages mean more Republican support they actually mean that because of very low voter turn out that there was great apathy toward Obama and the Democrats and that the few voters that actually did turn out were energized Republican voters. Thus, you get weird results in low voter elections.  Then, we discuss the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals has Upheld a same sex marriage ban and that opens the door to a Supreme Court hearing on the matter and I add my perceptions on the issues as a Christian and my understanding of the law.  Finally, I discuss the nature of the problem with the Islamic State Army and am glad that Obama will seek specific congressional authority to address the problems but I submit that, again, it is too damned little, too damned late.  I also mentioned earlier in the show that Secy of State John Kerry announced in talks with China that the USA would not take any position with regard to Chines movements in the South China Sea which should be a headline but was lost in the election drama.  This is a major departure for US foreign policy and will strongly affect the situation with Japan, Indonesia, Phillippines, and Viet Nam.

LatinoTalk Texas 2014, 0031 All Hallows Eve and Independent Voting

    in Politics

LatinoTalk Texas is America's only daily independent political analysis from the Latino perspective.  On today's show, I discuss the nature of Halloween or "All Hallows Eve" or "All Souls Day" which is a Catholic Holiday.  Later, I discuss the importance of voting and voting independently.  Do not vote a party line but vote for each candidate on their own merits and if you find no candidate you can trust, then vote for yourself as a write In candidate.  The Latino vote is in the news because it is important and will soon control many elections.  But for now, the Democrats don't care or respect you and the Republicans, controlled by the nativists at the Tea parties, simply hate and fear you.  Don't trust either of them!  Please see the terrific and humorous video by Al Madrigal seen on the Jon Stewart show.  Read about the backlash against Obama, Hillary Clinton and other Democrats by Latino activists regarding inaction on Immigration Reform.  I later read an essay by Ruben Navarette regarding Latino voting and he confirms we should vote independently!  I also read a piece by Newt Gingrich regarding the wildly radical movements by Houston Mayor Annise Parker who is quietly pushing the Homosexual agenda in Houston and facing a backlash, responded with a lawsuit against pastors.  Lastly, Pope Francis made remarks recently that were misinterpreted or flatly misrepresented by media types about science and the nature of creation which I discussed on my shows recently.  I finish by commenting that Catholics are not "literalists" who believe, for example, the universe is only 6 thousand years old.  Have a good weekend.
