    Chicago First Mayoral Debate

    in Politics

"While the center of the city has flourished tremendously, we need to see the same vitality in Chicago neighborhoods and  promised to hire 1,000 new police officers. There really is a contrast between the central business district and the neighborhoods, the editorial board. "Over the past few years in particular the contrast has sharpened. ... The neighborhoods have been left behind."said Cook County Commissioner Jesus "Chuy" Garcia.

As the mayor sat in the middle, his four challengers sat feet away, repeating a theme that Emanuel was more focused on downtown, and not so much on Chicago neighborhoods.
"Emanuel  closed 50 schools, he has closed the mental health clinics in Chicago," said William "Dock" Walls.
Ald. Bob Fioretti, 2nd, had a chance to make headlines. He promised me before the debate that he wouldn't "back down" from his allegations earlier in the week that the mayor all but killed an investigation into a strong-arm robbery of Rahm's teenage son.

A new poll released Monday by Ogden & Fry, conducting weekly polls for the mayoral race, it appeared Garcia could force a run-off election. The poll showed Emanuel with a clear lead and 39.5 percent of the vote, Garcia with 18 percent, Wilson with 11.1 percent and Fioretti with 7.5 percent.
The Victory Research poll of 806 “likely Chicago voters,” showed Emanuel leading with 36.4 percent of the vote. Fioretti was in second with 18.2 percent of the vote and Garcia in third at 12 percent. Wilson and William “Dock” Walls followed in fourth and fifth place with 8.6 percent and 0.9 percent, here was a margin of error of 3.45 percent.

    Boston's Ubiquitous Redhead

    in Politics Progressive

From fellow pols to constituents, everyone in Boston seems to love Matt O'Malley. The City Councilor for the West Roxbury and Jamaica Plain neighborhoods (and smidgens of two others) will be on again with us.

He is indefatigable and seems to0 appear everywhere. We'll likely touch on many subjects. He has strong opinions on the city's 2024 Olympics bid and in other sports is likely to talk underinflated footballs. We've had big shifts in the Mayor's office and the police force. He can tell us what he sees there. For some folk, the topics might but mundane, but he heads the city's Environment and Parks Committee and co-chairs the Education one. He has driven the likes of recycling and composting to make Boston cleaner and greener. We'll ask about those and what he sees with the search for a new schools super.

In short, if you want to know that is happening, will happen or should happen in Boston, start with Matt.

DA Harris Admits To Jury Tampering.

    in News

Coming up on The Back Story at 11:30 am, the admission of district attorney Dave Harris to jury tampering.

The admission is memorialized in the transcripts from the AJ Pontillo hearing on January 8th.

Mr. Pontillo was exonerated of all charges by unanimous jury decision.

Fladager , Harris and Jacobson are all accountable for tampering with the jury in a failed attempt to poison their minds.

DA Harris stated tampering with the jury didn't matter because Mr. Pontillo had been acquitted.

    No Harm, no foul.

An attempted bank robbery is not a crime because it was only an attempt.

Defense attorney Frank Carson stated he was obligated to bring the jury  tampering to the judges attention and the judge reveled the jury commissioner dumped it back into his lap.

Judge Scott Steffen said he was seeking legal counsel in regards to this matter.
