Lynne Hinkey is a marine scientist who spent "donkey years" in the Caribbean, hanging around marinas and boaters. She currently lives in Charleston, South Carolina, with her husband, two dogs, and a cat. She is the author of a number of short stories, essays, and travel articles, and is a reviewer for The Internet Review of Books and the Underground Book Review. When not writing, Lynne is an adjunct professor of biology at Trident Technical College and the University of Maryland -- University College.
Now, in her own words, "For as long as I can remember, I've been a writer, mostly of fiction (even when keeping a journal -- my own adolescence just wasn't exciting enough to document without embellishment.)
I wrote my first book at age 8: a self-illustrated guide to "School Rules." My parents locked themselves in the bathroom to read it so their laughter wouldn't hurt my feelings. They didn't discourage me, and I finished my first two (unpublished) novels while still in high school.
Life took me down another career path--one that ultimately gave me the stories I'd write, and let me find my voice. I decided to pursue this road seriously in 2005, and in 2008, my first short story found its way into print.
Since then, a number of my other stories, essays, travel articles, and book reviews have been published in print and online. The release of my debut novel, Marina Melee, (Casperian Books, 2011) was only the beginning of this journey. My second novel, Ye Gods! A Tale of Dogs and Demons, was released by Casperian Books on April 1, 2014 and I still have more stories to tell."

The reverberations from the Richmond County Grand Jury’s decision not to indict Daniel Pantaleo, of the NYPD, continue to be felt.
While protests on behalf of Eric Garner and Michael Brown, have been largely peaceful, if not very inconveniencing for New Yorkers, there have been sporadic instances of violence,
During a protest on the Brooklyn Bridge last Saturday, two men, both white, one a college professor, allegedly triggered a melee and assaulted police.
In the meantime, the events and reactions from that fateful day has caused tension between Mayor DiBlasio and the head of the Patrolman’s Benevolent Association, Patrick Lynch, who has accused the mayor of making remarks that are disrespectful of the police.
In fact, some of the NYPD have supported a pledge to disinvite the Mayor to their funerals.
On the international front, Barack Obama has decided to establish diplomatic and economic relations with Cuba, citing that the embargo, in place since 1961, has “not worked”.
Again, as expected, the reactions vary, with intense criticism from Sens. Marco Rubio Robert Menendez, both of whom are of Cuban heritage.
On the other hand, Jimmy Carter praised Obama’s “political courage”. Perhaps he sees this as a sort of redemption from the Mariel Boatlift?
I wonder out loud, what this means for black people economically, with an anticipated influx of Cubans to this country, just 90 miles away.
For those old enough to remember, this conjures memories of the Bay of Pigs (1961) and Cuban Missile Crisis (1962).
By the WAY, Obama says that black people are “better off” (HE said it, NOT me!)

Elizabeth Emily Hicks and William Raymond Hicks are a husband and wife team who met in 1996 through a transformational workshop. During much personal growth together, Elizabeth, a.k.a. Elise, and William were inspired to write "Wings: The Journey Home" because they wanted to impart the wisdom that they have gained from their life experiences, in a fun and inspiring way. Elise and William are both students of history, psychology, self-empowerment, metaphysics and quantum physics. ‘Wings', an inspiring coming of age tale about an eagle who forgets, is their first published book. They have written several other fictional and non-fictional e-books together and separately, which they have published on Smashwords. They live in a rare and beautiful urban sanctuary, called Mariners Village in Marina del Rey, California, where Great Blue Herons and other wildlife live, but developers and politicians have renovation plans that would remove all of the trees, well over 1,000, as well as the last nesting grounds for the Great Blue Heron. They have banded together with their neighbors and local organizations to create the Friends of Mariners Village and the Lorax Project, in order to save the trees and even more importantly the vision that Mariners Village represents, namely, that man and nature can live together in harmony. By the end of 2009 Blaize had already begun working on a more adult audience for her books. She began with a book she originally titled ‘Fire’ on her computer. She eventually self published it under the title ‘District One Stand By: The Captain’s Last year’ in which was published in 2010. By April of that same year, her book had been picked up by a publishing house and she was no longer a self published author. The name changed to ‘Firefighter Down, District One’. By September the book hit the top 100,000 chart on both Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble. By then she was getting interviews with people such as Jo Lindell, The Mudge Report, Benjamin Wallace, The Sasha Marina Show, Morgen Bailey , Clancy Tucker, as well as the ‘Mirror Report’ in the Sun Journal from Lewiston, Maine as well as many others..
“District One Stand By:’ series is based upon my hometown, Standish, Maine. ‘The Captain’s Last Year, One Year to Live: Fighting the Flame and Cancer’ is based in Maine as well. There is something special about Maine that brings out my inspiration to write.” She admitted.Blaize Nolynne books are available everywhere books are sold and including large distributors such as Ingram, Baker and Taylor, ect.
Proceeds of her book : ‘The Captain's Last Year: One Year to Live, Fighting the Flame and Cancer ‘ she is donating not just to cancer research, but to also help a local Maine Fire Chief, Jeff Douglass of Baldwin, Maine who is struggling with terminal cancer. “Soul To Soul,” a passionate new song cycle from vocalist, songwriter, producer and musician Carmen Lundy, is set for release September 23rd, 2014 via Afrasia Productions. “Soul To Soul”, Lundy’s 14th album, is the next chapter in her critically-acclaimed career as both a musical artist and a visual artist; a return to her roots but also an exploration of these roots — and the journey that those roots can take you on. The release of “Soul To Soul” will be accompanied by tour dates both in the U.S. and overseas.
Carmen Lundy began working on “Soul To Soul” well over a year ago in a very hands-on manner — literally composing, co-composing and arranging eleven of the thirteen tracks and then playing and recording all the instruments - including bass, drums, piano, guitar and percussion — in her home studio to get a working “feel” for how the music might sound. She then “sweetened” the songs by adding string sounds and other software instruments to elaborate and experiment with the aural mood of each track, interpreting and identifying with each track’s sound individually as well as part of the overall song sequence. On the final CD, Lundy plays guitar on all tracks, piano and Rhodes on many tracks, and drums on two.
