MACtion is back (well, almost)! In honor of the 69th season of MAC football, which begins Thursday, Alex and Bryan hoped on the mics real quick to take a final look at what the season holds before it actually gets underway.
Monday saw the announcement of several starting quarterbacks, including those at Toledo, Ohio, and Eastern Michigan—which was a shocker—and we dive deep into that for the first 15 or so minutes, breaking down the battles and look at the winners of all three of those, as well as some discussion on what's going on with NIU's still unfinished QB battle. We also break down the MAC coaches poll, give you our picks for who will win each division, then close it all out with a look at the slate of Week 1 MACtion and our picks for each game.
A new week begins on BangTheBook Radio. Host Adam Burke will be joined by college football analyst Brian Fremeau of FootballOutsiders.com to talk about the chaos going on in the College Football Playoff and also to take a look ahead at Notre Dame's game against Stanford this week. Cole Ryan's Betting the Buckets NBA segment will be part of today's show, as well as some college football analysis from Kyle Hunter. The guys will talk a little MACtion and some of the important games coming up on Saturday.

Adam Burke and Kyle Hunter are back on the air with another edition of the BangTheBook College Football Betting Podcast. After a crazy Week 10 that saw unbeaten TCU get upset and Alabama dominate LSU, the guys will recap the news and notes that you need to know from what happened and then they will look ahead to Week 11. This week's slate begins with some MACtion, and the guys will discuss Toledo vs. Central Michigan and Western Michigan vs. Bowling Green prior to looking ahead to Saturday's slate. Among the games discussed in depth will be Alabama vs. Mississippi State, Temple vs. South Florida, Memphis vs. Houston, Oklahoma vs. Baylor, and Washington State vs. UCLA. The Pick Six segment will end the show with six free picks on Week 11 college football betting action.
EDITOR'S NOTE: First, some apologies. 1) Sorry it has been so long since we have recorded one of these. 2) Sorry for the poor audio quality and Bryan's typing in the background. He apparently forgot how microphones work.
On Episode 36, Dan Kadar from SB Nation’s Mocking The Draft site joins Alex and Bryan to preview the MAC’s 2015 NFL Draft class. Will any MAC players go on the first day? Is this a down year for the conference’s draft hopefuls? Will Akron ever be good a football? Dan answers those questions and more on Mid-American Hustle.
*This episode has been condensed and edited.
**We're aware that out iTunes feed doesn't appear to be working anymore. We're working on figuring out a fix for that.
This week on Mid-American Hustle Alex and Bryan are joined by Hustle Belt contributor Chris Manning to recap the week that was, look to the future, and answer some MACtion fan questions.
This episode starts off with a lengthy discussion of this week's biggest MAC news: The Central Michigan player legal issues. CMU announced Monday that Thomas Rawls is suspended indefinitely, and we've now found out that he's facing three felony theft charges from an incident that happened in April. Also Monday, CMU dismissed Andrew Flory from the team. Flory was one of two CMU players arrested over the summer for shoplifting from a Walmart. Taking in the previous arrests of players from Dan Enos' team, the three discuss what this means for Enos' tenure at CMU and ask the question: does Enos have control of his team?
At the 17 minute mark (yes, this is a LONG episode) the three recap what happened in Week 3, including the biggest surprises and best performances of the week. At the 28 minute mark they begin looking ahead at Week 4. At the 37 minute mark they answer some questions from the Hustle Bag, and finally, at the 45 minute mark Bryan and Chris answer the question, "Is Ohio's offense too conservative?".
Today on Mid-American Hustle, Bryan and Alex react to the news of Toledo starting quarterback Phillip Ely's ACL tear, and how they think it'll impact the Rockets' chances going forward. They bounce around a bit, looking ahead at Week 3, reacting to the surprise return of Cameron Stingily in Week 2, comparing the situations at BGSU and Toledo, and talking a look at the quarterback options UT has at its disposal. It's a MACtion packed episode, sure to be less corny than this description.
In episode 33 of the Mid-American Hustle, Alex flies solo. Good thing he wore a helmet.
Daniel Malone from MassLive.com comes aboard to talk about UMass football woes and more.
After a bye week, Alex and Bryan are back to talk all things MAC football, and even some big news surronding the Belt.
Week 5 brought on widespread MAC play, and while a few teams had byes, the majority of the league took the field for games that actually matter. We broke down all of the madness from week 5, looked ahead at what week 6 should hold for us, and made our picks.
We also answered some reader questions from our Hustle Bag. It's a long one, so crack open a Lunchable and settle in.
With Week 1 in the books, Bryan and Alex hopped on the Mics the other day to digest what happened. The two discussed their most surprising games of the week, talked about Jarvion Franklin's breakout game at Purdue, and Phillip Ely's debut as Toledo's starting quarterback. Also up for discussion: BGSU's blowout (keep in mind this was recorded before we knew about Matt Johnson's injury), coaching debuts, Miami's surprising effort against Marshall, and looked ahead at Week 2's plethora of potential upsets.
Yesterday Bowling Green fans got some rather terrible unexpected news when head coach dino Babers announced that starting quarterback Matt Johnson was likely done for the season following a hip injury. Obviously losing a quarterback is never good, especially not when he may just be the best player in the conference and a key player in your team's hopes of winning a conference title.
To get some perspective on what the loss of Johnson means to the team, I spoke with Thurman Dieter, one of our Bowling Green experts here at The Belt. Dieter and I talk about the injury to Johnson, the loss at WKU, what BGSU fans should expect out of their new starting quarterback, Jason Knapke, and took a look ahead at what the rest of the season has in store for the Falcons in this 30 minute episode (the 30th episode, too) of Mid-American Hustle.
We talk Wisconsin football tonight!
How will the Darius Hillary, Konrad Zagzebski and the Wisconsin Badgers' defense do against the Bowling Green Falcons' dynamic, high-octane offense? We'll break down what Marcus Trotter, Michael Caputo, and company need to do to hold true freshman wide receiver Roger Lewis and sophomore quarterback James Knapke Saturday morning. Plus, audio from Trotter, sophomore cornerback Sojourn Shelton, and defensive coordinator Dave Aranda from Wednesday, as well as head coach Gary Andersen's audio from Thursday night
Plus, our bold predictions for the game!
Our good friend, Wes Hodkiewicz of the Green Bay Press Gazette, stops by to help us preview the Green Bay Packers' first NFC North match-up against the Detroit Lions. Can the Packers' offensive line, lead by Josh Sitton and T.J. Lang, hold up the vaunted Lions' pass rush of Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley? Will Aaron Rodgers stay upright during the game, and will another wide receiver step up besides Jordy Nelson? Can Clay Matthews, Julius Peppers, and the Packers' defense gain momentum from their second half performance against the New York Jets?
