Out of Ontario, Canada comes the MacKenzie Blues Band. Consisting of classically trained vocalist, Tara MacKenzie, guitarist Trevor MacKenzie, bassist Joel Dawson & drummer Mike Weir, they have just released their sophomore album Slam! Bam!, containing 12 originals. The band has traveled to Memphis for the IBC twice and we will discuss their careers and their music.
Generation Blues Experience is the joining of 14-year old Ray Goren, who has played guitar at the Chicago Blues Festival and with Buddy Guy and more. he was introduced to 80-year old bluesman, Jamie Bluesboy Powell and septuangenerian harpist Sammy Lee. The three were introduced a few years agao and their musical talents meshed, and Generation Blues Band was formed. We'll talk about how their music bridges the generational gap and where they hope to go in the near future.
Bob Corritore needs no introduction. Maybe an explanation as to why it has taken so long to bring Bob on the show; well I interviewed him for American Blues News a number of years ago, he has visited during my IBC shows and somehow,my brain turned that into him having appeared on a Monday show! When I realized my mistake, I reached out and Bob accepted. We'll look at how it all began some 40 years ago and then also chat with Bob about his take on the Blues World today as compared to when he was sharing the stage with the many legends who are no longer with us. We'll share some of the mus from Bob's latest, Taboo.
Finally, Sena Ehrhardt returns for COUCH KID NEW MUSIC for her new album, Live My Life. Sena originally sat on The Couch back in May 2013, so we will find out what the last year has brought to this wonderful artist.

Oct 1st-7th is National Trichotillomania Awareness week.
As most of you already know I've had this disorder for the last 16 years of my life. For many who have Trich it's a source of shame, embarrassment, and self loathing. It's something so many of us should be able to understand yet the victims are terrified to come clean, proclaiming themselves as freaks...We need this to stop.
Beauty doesn't come from eyelashes, hair, your weight, or what clothes you wear. Beauty comes from your struggles, your passions, yourself.
I'd like to challenge everyone to open up and share your deepest secret with just one person. We are never going to stop judging people if we can't learn to stop judging ourselves. Peace. ~MacKenzie Joy
What is Trich?
How to handled it at school? Is it something I should hide?
When to tell someone?
How do others react?
Is there treatment?
How will this affect my future?

Today on Voices of Global Freedom we are interviewing Ian Mackenzie a well known film maker! We must love our own aliveness so deeply, that we reject any further participation in a system that does not honour the gifts with which we have been bestowed. We must love the world so deeply that we have no choice but to bow in service to the beauty that is waiting for us, patiently, to re-member. My short film, in collaboration with Charles Eisenstein and his book of the same name, was recently featured in the massively popular site Upworthy. Part of their appeal is the enticing titles they use to refurbish great videos/articles they find on the web. Here's what they wrote about my film: Thank you for joining me on this journey. Known for their emblematic uniforms, signature kick line and cowboy boots, the DCCs are, unquestionably, “America’s Sweethearts”. With the tagline “often imitated, never equaled”, the DCCs must adhere to what Director Kelli Finglass calls “almost unattainable standards”. So how do the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders live up to these nearly impossible expectations? We’ll find out as I interview DCC Veteran Mackenzie Lee and DCC Rookie Emily Claire!
