AC Hosts James C. 'Pep' Washburn - Touching Spirit: The Letters of Minominike

    in Books

In the pristine environment of the northern boreal forest, Tulugaq Kagagi muses over a series of letters, written in the vernacular of his grandfather, he recalls his life experiences and the spiritual teachings these events have brought him: transforming his life and worldview.

As he reads the words of this old man’s life his heart is returned to a time of embrace and spiritual oneness that he has not known in decades. Feeling the wind of the Spirit and sensing the inner whisper of a still small voice, meaning and love are again awakened in his heart. We travel with him on a path of revelation opening his heart to the unity and benevolence surrounding us all. This is a novel that pierces the core of humanity’s longing for inner peace and opens for us the simple joy of being. The letters of Minominike bring insight and encouragement to live in the reality of transcendent love.

“Called by many names in the world’s wisdom traditions, Touching Spirit: The Letters of Minominike, is a powerful reminder that the Spirit within guides each of us in language unique to our individual heart and soul. James “Pep” Washburn is a conduit for the realization of our shared humanity and our shared desire to journey home and discover our Original Face. This book is accompanied with a warning: Your beliefs may shape shift in such a way that causes your life to never again be the same.”  Michael Bernard Beckwith, author of Life Visioning.

Join Pep and host, Lily Gianna to learn the backstory.

He Said, on Next Steps Radio

    in Books

February and April are He Said/She Said months on Next Steps Radio!

Does gender count when it comes to writing thrillers? Are there differences between the two sets of authors and the books they write? And the biggie: is one gender more likely to be successful than the other?

First up, the men. Please join host and award-winning suspense novelist Jenny Milchman as she talks to three male authors about whether sex matters.

Matthew FitzSimmons was born in Illinois and grew up in London, England. He now lives in Washington, DC, where he taught English literature and theater at a private high school for over a decade. THE SHORT DROP, a political kidnapping conspiracy thriller, is his first novel.

Barry Lancet’s third book in his award-winning international thriller series featuring Jim Brodie is PACIFIC BURN. Previous books are JAPANTOWN (Barry Award Winner) and TOKYO KILL (Shamus Award Finalist). Lancet divides his time between Japan and California.

After graduating with a Journalism degree from the University of Oklahoma, Tim Washburn spent several years working in the television business both in Oklahoma City and Little Rock, Arkansas. His first book, POWERLESS, deals with a geomagnetic solar storm that destroys every power grid in the northern hemisphere, flinging the human race back to the Dark Ages.

Talk to literary agent, Jeanie L oiacono, and author, James Washburn

    in Spirituality

A facilitator of dreams, Jeanie Loiacono represents over sixty authors. Her forte is mystery, romance, thrillers, historical/military/southern fiction, and all quality fiction/nonfiction. Her passion is to see her authors succeed.”I am a facilitator of dreams.”

“There is nothing more rewarding than to hold one of my author’s books and know I helped bring it to fruition. I am so blessed and privileged to be able to work with some of the most talented writers in the world.

James Washburn was born and raised in rural Wisconsin, initiating an intimate rapport with the natural environment and life in the North Country. Drawing from his connections to native North American Indian and Inuit people, as well as a deep personal spiritual history in traditional Christianity, he weaves a story that transcends ethnicity and culture. He speaks to the universal desires of the human heart with simplicity and passion.

“Life is too important to spend it making a living” – has been Washburn’s mantra since youth. Choosing a three-decade career in education gave him time for extensive travel and experience within many of the most remote corners of North America. His appreciation for solitude and a self-reliant nature, however, belie his enthusiasm to promote an understanding of humanity’s interdependence and the unity of all people. Washburn’s education includes degrees in geography, health, and learning resources along with extensive scholarly study in historical theology and psychology. He is also an able photographer and experienced speaker. His current communion with Mother Earth has been a complete hike of the approximate 1,200 mile long Ice Age trail.

  • DST: Recap of Indiana/MSU, CMU/BSU, Vikes/Lions; Wings' D, 2015 Pistons preview

    in Sports

Monday night at midnight for 30 minutes! Call in live at (646) 478-4837!

Ed Smith and I recap Indiana Hoosiers/Michigan State Spartans, Central Michigan Chippewas/Ball State Cardinals, and Minnesota Vikings/Detroit Lions, while the Michigan Wolverines are finished having their bye week before moving on to Minnesota for the little brown jug.

Breaking news: The Lions fire offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi, offensive line coach Jeremiah Washburn, and assistant offensive line coach Terry Heffernan. Jim Bob Cooter will take over, which won't bode well for the franchise.

We also rant together on why and how this awful Red Wings' defense is still paper-thin-skinned after blowing one in overtime to the Calgary Flames, and it starts from the top with a washed-up shill defenseman in Kyle Quincey. Oh, and they played the Canucks in Vancouver the night after as well. But I'll bet you all already know that, too.

Finally, we preview the Pistons' 2015-2016 NBA regular season and predict how they'll finish.
